I have lived in Woolton and nearby in the mid to late 70s. At the time there was a small Tesco store on Woolton Str. on the same side of the street as the Elephant pub, and another small supermarket of a different chain nearly opposite. Woolton vibes are so strong that they are still with me nearly 50 years on. Thanks for taking us back.
Hello John. My Grandma Mrs Ellen Burke lived at Rydal Mount. Corner Woolton St and Speke rd. Side entrance in WSt. had a pathway to individual back doors and yards. A shared communal garden. Which is now mostly car pk. On rhs of Woolton St towards the Cross there was a bakery/cake shop called Crow'(e)s. Old lady named Mrs Bond lived in next house to Grandma when I was very yng. My aunty Moll had that house from the 50s. Another Aunt retired, came back to Woolton from USA in mid 50s had another. The 4th house was aunty Josie MacDonald. They were my Dad, Philip's 3 sisters. There are steep steps upto front doors on Speke rd. Agd 84
Great update Jeff. I love Woolton not just because of the Beatles but also my gran when she was here used to live in Halewood I used to stay at hers in my teenage years in the 1990s early 2000s she used to take me to Woolton on the bus and show me where her gran lived in one of the streets there. I loved Woolton very historic to. When I watch your videos of Woolton it brings memories back of being there years ago and of course having family connections to helps as well. Remember sledging down camp hill in the snow to years ago during a cold winter.cheers Jeff. Also her sister lived right by John Lennon in Menlove Avenue.

Sledging down Camp Hill in the snow was brilliant. Also used home made go carts. Old bits of wood with pram wheels. Don't see that these days.
This is brilliant. I've never seen these Woolton old photos of the Southern shop and Browns before.
Great video, Jeff loves looking at the before and after photos 👍
Very Cool! I love how the discovery came together . Very enjoyable.

Nice one Jeff, keep up the good work.

Going up Woolton Street from the cross was there ever a bakery or a shop that sold bread on the left hand side in the early fifties ?
So tedious. If you watch more than 2 minutes of this you will be in a coma.
your 1 second reply is even more Tedious... Stay Stump .
