I know nostalgia ignores many realities but I can't help feel a real sense of warmth and belonging when I look at these photos of times when I was a kid.

Used to go to the Rialto on Saturday morning 6d and the 'Jamie' ( St James picture house) on Saturday afternoon 9d. Lived in Ashwell St opposite St James church. I was glad when we moved to Childwall and had an indoor toilet and a bathroom and no cockroaches.

End of war celebrations photo makes me feel emotional. i’m 41 these are not my times, but despite the poverty I can’t help think they were better times with better people. I was born in the wrong era. God bless them all

I grew up in Cayrl Gardens. I remember going to the Caffe in Park place during the School holidays, they had a Pinball Machine in there, magic to us then. There was a Chippie just a couple of doors away, called the Blackpool, we used to get a portion of Crispy Potato Scallops, covered in Salt & Vinnegar, to us, it was a feast. Happy Days 👍😊

I love these nostalgic journeys, but I mainly hope, that I will see my mother's birth place, Portland St. off Vauxhall Road. or anywhere close to it---so far no see. If anyone knows of a vid, depicting that area, I would be most grateful for guidance. I view these shots often.

Great photos and stills sometimes convey much more than video so you use your imagination and i find them very emotional. People had pride and respect which is a far cry from modern society.

I was born in 1947 in THE HOLY LAND, LIVERPOOL 8. DAVID, JACOB, ISAAC & MOSES STREET. In that order going up PARK ROAD. I have been living On the West Coast of WALES for NEARLY 50 YEARS & I REALLY miss the SCOUSE SENSE of HUMOUR. There is NOTHING like it WORLDWIDE. I have OBVIOUSLY got a GREAT SENSE of HUMOUR as I STILL SUPPORT my WONDERFUL EVERTON & have been to sixty-nine different grounds in ENGLAND thanks to THE TOFFEES.

Im a south Livapoodlian brought up in Childwall Valley, but that estate was built in the early 60s, so no heritage there! But as a kid my mum and dad, nans and granddads spoke of the "cast iron shaw, The Ovie or Dockers Umbrella, and the building of Otters pool prom" How lovely to see most of them in working order.
