Can't believe someone took the time to film the area I was born and grew up in. Thought the first reel brought back memories but this reel had Steer street school on it. The first school I ever went to I was born and lived at 1 Garabaldi terrace in the shadow of the water tower, I climbed half way up that tower to see the lifeboat at the top, got stuck and was helped down by the fire engine crew. My mate told me the boat was there to save people incase the tower burst and the water flooded Liverpool, he was 3 years older than me so it must have been true. There used to be a cut through between the corporation yard and Maggie Street baths that I used to use to get to Steer Street school if I was running late and missed the bell. I also used Grants Gardens as a shortcut to get to my nans house, she and my grandad lived in Cobden street. So many childhood memories coming back Can't thank you enough for uploading these videos.

    Hi adman
It's great to hear from people who lived in the areas of the vid.....it somehow makes it a lot more personal and helps to bring it all to life again.
Glad you enjoyed it and Hughes St. ...you are correct in the assumptions of Churches in background and far distance shots.
Have a great time over xmas to you and all your family.
    Dave

Born in mill Rd. Lived on Kenny. Went to Margie baths many times. Recall summer days going there with me mum and sister with other family members and friends. Walking through grants gardens a mass of colour of flowers.
When I google it now it breaks my heart.

    Hi "tiny"
    I'm pleased you liked it.
I too was a user of baths and we did look smarter in those days especially on a Sunday.
Yep all had to "made to measure" and cost a bloody fortune....I think "Jacksons" was one of the most used by us.......5 woodies please or maybe a loosie.....lol

If it wasn't for the cars I'd say this was the 1860s not the 1960s. Are any of these places left?

    • @DaveWatson-davlin

.1945 to 1970. The council. destroyed liverpool...Should have modernised the houses.. ripped the heart out of liverpool. Sent the.people to Speke. Kirkby .Huyton . I loved living in Creswick st. Old times nice people. So sad .
