Excellent information thank you Luc. It's interesting, I did have a webpage header set, however this wasn't showing. Google still preferred to use another image. I updated and it and the new image was immediately displayed. Interesting to see if google decides if another image is more relevant over time.

Well I'm just seeing this video, and while I found it quite informative and helpful, it doesn't seem to be working. Perhaps I need to edit my cover photo and try again. I was following other guidelines for uploading the best Google website cover photo but it seems that may conflict with what you're saying to do; especially if getting this photo to show in the sidebar results is the goal (which it is). Like many, I'm growing tired of random photos that I know don't represent my business well (whether Google does or not) and want the photo I choose to be used. I really don't understand why this just isn't the case to begin with. Big tech always thinking they know better than us, perhaps? Either way, thanks for the info. Very informative video!
Hi Curtis. Sadly your google my business listing doesn't belong to you but to Google. The cover photo may change based on what Google think is most appropriate, it's even mentioned in their guidelines. This is why you can't always display what you want. This video is only a work around and unfortunately doesn't work for certain verticals. It sounds like it could be your case :-(

Your videos are extremely helpful! Thank you. One question, the business is 100% verified but pictures are still not getting approved. All within picture guidelines. My wife has a women’s clothing boutique so nothing offensive. Just models in clothes. Not sure what to do.
Hi Brent. It could be that the AI is wrongly identifying the images which would result for them to be flagged as being against the guidelines. Hard to tell without seeing the photos. I would suggest you either try getting in touch with google directly or ask someone at the support community. There are many similar cases to yours already raised. support.google.com/business

Question: I have a very good video that I already posted to "videos" on our profile, I have to trim it since it's like 2 minutes long so I have posted like 4 separate videos of it. Do you know any good tricks to upload videos to the "Cover" area? I have tried with a section of this video and even though this one is posted, I cannot upload it as a "cover"... I decided to upload the TH-cam URL of the video to the "Menu" link on the profile...just because I don't see anyplace where to include it. Were not a restaurant, but a dental office. log into the account associated with your listing. Search for "my business" on Google. In your main listing panel click on Photos. From there you should be able to delete any image

Hi, Really informative video. I've got a bit of a problem though. After I enter the Photo gallery & clicked on the photo that needs to be removed.. They do not have a Delete Button , instead they have a Flag sign & this is not helping us (as we have flagged the image a numerous no of times). It sounds like the image you are talking about was not posted by yourself (or the account holder) but instead by a random user. This would be why you can't remove it. It will be very difficult to get google to delete it so make sure you use the technique explained in the video to replace it with an image of your choice

Very frustrating trying to find things which were easily accessible before in the GMB dashboard since Google has decided to switch to search view and no option to revert it back !! Hi Eric. Love your suggestion about making such video. I will get on it today. In the meantime, If you want to edit your website, once you've logged into your account and brought up your profile Click on the edit profile icon. From the pop-up window click on the contact menu link. From there click on the pencil icon next to the website link. You should see an option that says" Your current website is created with Google" click on the button "manage" right under it. It will take you to the backend of your free website where you can make updates.

Sometimes this is from not having enough verifiable signals out there for the business. e.g FB biz page, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp listing, Trustpilot, website

For Google my Biz free website, why does the photo continue to delete? I can't get any photo to stay. Not even a picture of myself... Is there a Save button? I can't find one. It stays for a few minutes to 5 minutes then it's gone... Oh I see. They suspended my Profile because I was working on it. They did that to my last site so I deleted it... Hi Jamil. You are correct. The free google website was launched to help business owners with restricted budget have an online presence. You do not have to publish it to update your profile picture. It won't hurt your ranking if you do
I think Google has caught up with your hack. I just tried this...with a perfect image sized to spec, and it did not work. There is a point in your video, where after you uploaded, you say you hit save. Where is this save button? Also...really no need to hit 'publish'? I did not hit publish. Hi Venkata. If you have 3 separate branches in 3 different locations, you should create a listing for them individually. If it's for the same business, you should use the same business name.

Replacing the picture should be enough and you shouldn't have to do anything else. Unfortunately for some profiles changing the main image on the free google website won't change it on their business panel.
Or will it be that I activate the website of the google my business tool to activate the photograph that we want to put on the profile and then deactivate it and place the official website of my company?

I tried exactly to do it, like on the video, but I always shows the google street view instead of the title-image. Every time I want to upload the titleimage to the Google Website the uploaded image (JPG, 2121x1192px, but also smaller ones until 800px) disappear from the website after refreshing.

Hi Zane. It can take up to 24 hours for the images to show so give it a bit more time.

You can't use videos as a cover. Only images. I would also suggest you use a normal menu as opposed to a video. That's what people would want to see.

I don't know what adobe spark is. I can only assume Google is compressing the picture automatically which may result in quality loss

Trial and error but It's more the ratio than the dimensions you need to worry about so I'm sure 2121x1192 will also work

Help! I've added the photo a bunch of times and while it displays as 'cover photo' in the photos section, it's still displaying some other image.
Sometimes this hack doesn't work and you can't change the photo. Google decides for you instead

I think Google has caught up with your hack. I just tried this...with a perfect image sized to spec, and it did not work. There is a point in your video, where after you uploaded, you say you hit save. Where is this save button? Also...really no need to hit 'publish'? I did not hit publish. I tried and thanks...such a pain you know where.
Hi Harrison. I've just tried it and it still works. For some listing it just doesn't for some listings. Unfortunately yours might be one of them.

My company has 3 branches, I listed only main branch in GMB, Now I want to list remaining two also since users are searching for other branches address in google.
1. Is it OK to give same business name for remaining two branches also ?
2. I see some multi branch business listing like A B C, Shall I list my other two branches like that? Does it effect anything

Hi Venkata. If you have 3 separate branches in 3 different locations, you should create a listing for them individually. If it's for the same business, you should use the same business name.

Hi Luc, unfortunately changing the cover photo on google sites its not working. Any other recommendation how to control which cover photo is shown?
Sadly this hack doesn't work 100% of the time. Try using a different photo if the one you are trying to show doesn't get picked by google.

Replacing the picture should be enough and you shouldn't have to do anything else. Unfortunately for some profiles changing the main image on the free google website won't change it on their business panel.

Hi Ranking Academy, The hack for the image of the cover of the Google site worked for me the first time but I have a new picture in my Google My Business that I do not like and the hack is not working, Just to let you know that just to let you know that It does not work all the time.

Unfortunately Google decides what picture goes in there. You can only suggest what you want. This is just a hack and doesn't always work

Are you using the old Google Business Profile manager or the new one? (directly from search)
I tried exactly to do it, like on the video, but I always shows the google street view instead of the title-image. Every time I want to upload the titleimage to the Google Website the uploaded image (JPG, 2121x1192px, but also smaller ones until 800px) disappear from the website after refreshing.
Really. Sounds very strange to me that you can't even load the image on the free website. I have to admit I have never come across this scenario.
