Wes, I can't even begin to tell you how valuable your channel is to me. I own a technical training school and am struggling with getting the right message out there starting with the website. Super, Super video. In this short presentation you practiced everything you preached - a very professional job. It is so easy to forget the "benefits, not just features" rule and I would not have even considered a summary on the front page or hero section. Thank you for all your hard work Mr. McDowell! I have a QQ - is bad to have a home page that is much shorter than the average? For example what if you just had the 1st section (hero section) and the Testimonials on your homepage - and included the rest in other parts of your website (benefits/features in Pricing for example). My assumption was always that shorter is better, and several of my small business friends were operating under the same assumption.
Should we be thinking about this differently?

The "happy customer" picture is such a game changes. It's been such a big question of mine as to what visuals to use for the hero section, and this is a significant improvement!

Hey Wes, I have been trying to get my website up and running for over 18 months and each time I finish one I think it is not good, would scratch it and start all over again because I didn't trust my gut and use my own experience as a consumer and that is flexibility and options to get exactly what they want and not just settle for a product because that is all that was available. (My business is Custom Handmade Press On False Nails). There are many press on nail businesses out there but do not offer the options that I will be. After watching your playlist I realised that the websites I created before were exactly what you have been saying here - keeping it simple and why they should buy my product. Thank you for giving me the boost of confidence I needed to know that I was on the right track in the first place and with your help I can build a website that catches people's attention immediately. You're the best.

If there's a call to action button that doesn't offer more information, I will never click on it. I go to websites to get information. If the only buttons are "buy now" or "book an appointment", I'll leave the site because it's obvious they want a sale, not a customer. I only make informed purchases and you cannot make an informed buying decision based on the tiny bit of highlight reel that a hero section offers. If there's a "Learn More" button, I'm 100x more inclined to stay and possibly purchase. The happy medium is putting both buttons there.
I don’t keep the call to action at the top due to exactly this. I give value added information first and only have a CTA at a reasonable place down the page where I can feel like people got enough information to justify asking for the click at that point.

Hi Wes, we have 3 core products *garage doors, patio awnings and carports). Are they omitted from the homepage too?
Yeah, this template is actualy an adaptation after ClearBrand template and it is about a landing page.
So, as you can see, you could apply this template to each page of your products.
Now, your home page should emphasize the advantages and benefits of all your product range, finding the common points of your products. Now, this is usualy done by a "marketing" person, or by yourself if you have a little knowledge in this area.
In your case I would find the common points of your product range,
- they are all products for home (houses)
so you could talk about the general outcome of using your products, like home comfort, improvement.
something like "Make your home the place of your dreams!"
WIth our home improvement product range, we can help make your home the place you enjoy every day, bla bla
Hope you understand what I mean.
Then use the same template for the rest of page, outlining the common benefits and outcomes of using your products.
Offcourse, I would also list the products as soon as possible in the page, maybe right in the subtitle and then in the first section after the hero section.
The user needs to know that you do and what you sell, right from the start.

Although Shopify is limited it would be interesting to see how you would apply this homepage information there maybe etsy as well? keep up the clear easy to follow videos
Shopify is it not worth, monthly 30-300$ fee + plugins each 50$ and then they take your 3$ from sale + 0.30...

Wes, my biggest question about the home page is the H1 and H2 Headings. SEO experts seem to say that I should clearly describe my services ("Expert Cleaning Services for your Home and Office") for SEO/ crawler purposes. Other marketing experts suggest selling the result here ("A clean, stress-free home is possible"). How do I balance the two?
If you are trying to bring organic traffic to the page. GO with the SEO experts. IF you are trying to increase conversions because you already have traffic coming, go with the marketing experts.

Hey Neko, first of all, make getting your first testimonials a priority, even if you have to do some work for free or at a deep discount to get them. But until you have them, social proof comes in many forms. How would you approach the homepage of a services company that has very different categories of services in the same industry? Example: IT Services, IT Training, Software sales
Have multiple pages for each service and a drop down menu on the header for Services with each one listed underneath.
