Mixed driving can deviate a lot from highway driving. When is it about fuel consumption. by mixed driving I mean city driving with traffic lights and so on and highway driving
Thanks for watching Edward, one thing we have found on these more modern diesels is that touches, flywheels, injectors et cetera don’t seem to be as troublesome as they used to be back around 2010 up until around 2013, but For a lot of people petrol is definitely sensible!
Diesels are a better work horse, thats a FACT. So plenty of small journeys, get the petrol. I have never had a petrol car since 1995, and I have never regretted it, mainly because I travel at least 30 miles a day on 60 mph roads (mostly)
A little off topic, but do you have any thoughts on HVO? I have read some recent PR stuff from Certa and Circle K about being able to simply put HVO into a diesel engine, no modifications needed??? This seems totally mind blowing to me. If this is true, does it apply to any diesel engine, specifically an i40 diesel engine of 2016? Thanks for any insights you might have. Great videos, straight to the point and always informative
I appreciate you watching! At the moment, I don’t have any insights besides the simple Google information, but the suppliers are adamant that vehicles require no modification so we can only assume that the HVO provides the same level of lubrication and the same combustion parameters as regular diesel.. unfortunately it will be one of those things that the proof is in the pudding so when people have started using it for two and three years and vehicles are not suffering any related issues, then we can be more certain, but at the moment the producers seem confident.🙂👍
Good video We are looking for a family car, max 20k budget, max 20,000 km a year. The petrol civics are more expensive at the moment. Which is a better option/buy? The 1.6 diesel or 1.5 petrol Any suggestions Thanks
What should i get with a budget of around 20k? Should i buy a civic 2018 1.6 dtec or 1.5 vtec? Also any other car recomandations other than honda? What about a toyota corolla sedan hybrid? What should i get? You can tell me anything, but what would you buy in this situation, any car brand.
I would go for the 1.5 Civic petrol. More power, decent fuel economy. The Toyota is also a good vehicle, best thing to do is probably test drive both ??
Now you were driving much slower than the average person driving on the road. here in Sweden there are many who drive from 120 km / h to 130 km / h. Even though the maximum speed limit on Swedish motorways is 110km / h. The average person also tends to accelerate. ie they do not run so smoothly
Fuel economy is much the same, the automatic feels a little bit faster, but only because it has more gears to go through, in reality, it’s much of a muchness
Very economical, even older versions. But personally I'd buy for reliability firstly. Then styling, then overall run cost..Honda has it all thank God!
Very Elaborate. Watching from Kenya.
Thanks for watching George !!

Excellent comparison done really well and broke down very easy to understand.
👍
Gavin thanks for watching !!
Good way of explaining it all Brian, many thanks
John Goodyear thanks for watching 🙂🙂
Diesel maintenance is a bit more troublesome too, DPF’s, dual mass flywheels, turbos, I would lean towards petrol more these days.

Brian Doolan at Fitzpatricks Garage Kildare Thanks, good to know.
I’d have the petrol all day - lighter and more responsive. The diesel would only make sense if you were doing 100km+ motorway every day.
Daniel Moore agreed !!

I agree with what you are saying

@@MythicWr something Japanese for reliability at that money , petrol Corolla or civic are good 👍

Hi Brian, is there much of a difference in the Diesel Civic between the Manual and Auto gearbox?
Fuel economy is much the same, the automatic feels a little bit faster, but only because it has more gears to go through, in reality, it’s much of a muchness
@@doolanbrian Thanks Brian
Which would you recommend considering I do lots of long trips at least once every month, about 600km.
I currently own a 2018 Honda fit (petrol)
Diesel is less expensive to run at the moment I think so for me diesel will be cheaper option!
Does not an average petrol car consume about 0.8 liters per 10 km? . Then the proportion of ethanol in the fuel can also affect
Most of the petrol cars that we sell consume probably around .6 L per 10 km, but driver style definitely has a big impact!
Happy new year Brian have a good one
Many Happy Returns - Thanks for watching Graham
Diesel is for tractors, you simply cannot buy a Honda with a diesel engine for the simple fact that Honda mastered small displacement petrol engines!
They have now finished with diesel for Europe so going forward everything will be hybrid or electric only in Europe!
@@doolanbrian Good riddance!
You went slowe on the way back with the diesel....
I stayed with speed limits .. maybe the clips I took on diesel were in slower areas ?
Are selling anything under 4k?
Hey 👍 we don’t unfortunately, sorry !
