That's a nice set up. I had an old mattress that filled the bed and an aluminum topper on my 1985 F-150 Pickup. I loved sleeping in it when we camped out on the local lake, and when it rained the raindrops hitting the topper's roof you slept like a baby. Such a beautiful, simple and clean build. So smart of you to utilize already installed screws with your build. The cabinets in the corner look fantastic! Lighting and curtain hookups look really impressive too.
I suggest using green or red lights to reduce the loss of your vision when it's dark outside. White lights will diminish the ability to see in the dark for some time after you use them.

Probably one of the best looking setups I’ve seen but to be honest the bags in the “junk” drawer is seriously the best idea I’ve seen in a long time. Not only am I going to use that when I do my build but I’m probably going to use that idea at my house lol!

Looks nice and comfortable. Respectfully, a couple of suggestions. Improve the chain on the S-hook for securing from the inside. Fire extinguishers, I would suggest two minimum for a vehicle that size running electronics or for any emergency. Given the times we live in I would suggest some trauma pieces to your first aid care. Get tourniquets, blood clotting products, some small tampons for holes (do your research on that one) needle to relieve a collapsed lung, etc. Have limo/blacked out tint for your camper windows. You can get someone to apply it, they’ll do it without writing you a receipt. I’ve sported limo tent on all of my vehicles because of my former uniformed profession. It’s smart. Road flares? Exterior lighting for security, emergencies, etc. Where’s a handgun, AR, or at least a quality shotgun and ammunition. Bear spray is good to have but it will not save your life. Some things, in my opinion, to consider. It’s yours and your family’s lives at stake once you leave the castle. Take a midland radio and a $20 ham radio and/or a radio with emergency channels. Remember, you may be in that vehicle when something bad may happen and no one’s coming to help. Think in those terms and you’ll make the proper additions.

My parents did this to two pickups back in the 80s. Built shelving, seats, carpeted the whole thing. It was always fun to go on road trips in the back, flip up the camper door, side windows...get the air in and fall asleep under the sun, while driving somewhere.
I've got an inverter inside my truck, with protected wiring going to the inside of the bed of the truck, and installed a regular 120v outlet inside the corner, and maybe someday I may install a switchover to hook up to shore power. You have to be careful what you hook into the outlet because it is not a true sine wave inverter. Love your setup, real fancy.
Bob is right that some devices do not like inverters because of the imperfect waveform, but that's not what you have installed. Thats a simple "regulator" or "power supply" converting AC to DC. An inverter would take DC in (from the battery) and give you AC out (typically 120V here in US). I was particularly impressed with your clean, safe, and frankly impressive wiring job.
Me too. With the way this is built I just slide the bed and cabinet out and I virtually have full access again. That was one of the main design thoughts for this. I buy and use a lot of plywood, so I still need to use my truck as a truck.
Awesome job. In case you missed it the carpet on floor and sides are made by Bed Rug and I like the pocket screw joinery. I have a Bed Rug too in my factory carpeted Snug Top topper but thats all. I’d love to have this setup but with a wife we like our 19 ft high clearance trailer. Hmmm 🤔 this would make a great winter shop project! Thanks.
Very nice setup. I had a topper on my truck and back in the 1970-80's, nothing as nice as what you have since it was also a work truck for my side business. My wife and I would go primitive camping in it and as newly weds we spent many a good weekend in the state parks of Florida and Georgia.
To eliminate excessive weight I would use pvc tubing for the frame and an air bed. A note… high density foam absorbs odors and weighs a lot. TY 4 the brainstorming ideas!
That sir is one awesome little set up for the back of your truck. Neat, tidy and clean and has everything you would need for a little camping, fishing or hunting trip. All you need now is a little propane stove and maybe a couple of lawn chairs foroutside and you will have it made..I love it. I now know what i will be doing with my next truck but have to figure out away to be able to remove it so i can use my truck for a truck..Thanks for sharing Brian.
Wow, just. Wow. I'm amazed at how clean and organized your setup is. Your power station is so efficient looking, I'm gonna definetly steal the grid pattern for my rig. I never thought about using Cafe rods as curtain rods but that's what's used in conversion vans. Thanks for the awesome video, I really got some great idea for my setup.
I had a bed rug in my 2002 dodge pickup with a cap. Loved it, made moving furniture much easier. logs, tool, camping gear, no problem. Cleaned up easily.
That is NICE! This makes so much more sense to me to than a camper van or trailer. Especially if you're just out in nature, this is all a man needs. Bed looks super cozy.
Brian, your video has been the top video suggesting my truck camper build video so I thought I’d pop on over and check your build out. Great job, man! I built my bed about 11” high and sometimes wish for the extra head room, but it’s such a balance between function and comfort in such a small space. Keep up the great content…going to see how your first night went!
Nice job! It's got all the basics covered very well. Obviously, there is no upper limit to how fancy one could go with any sort of camper build but this one should do a decent job of providing short term shelter that requires minimal effort to use. Hope you enjoy it!
You put together a super well designed and organized truck camper shell. Pretty incredible the amount of powdered options you put in and yet you don't have wires running loose everywhere, that's great work 👍. I love truck camping. I have a Chevy Classic Conversion Van with the full-on EXPLOYER Co package. Great for quick weekends and fishing trip camping.
Watching videos like this make me want to something like this so bad with my old Tundra... except I need the bed haha. So ill just enjoy this vicariously through these videos.
What an awesome job you did on your truck camper. That is what I’ve wanted to do to mine but my camper shell has some major issues which I can’t seem to get fixed. Nice job on the electrical as well! I’m a new subscriber. Looking forward to your first outing.
Thank you Sherry! I appreciate it. I’ve got 3 or 4 trips planned in the next four weeks. Some are truck camping, and some will be with my DIY camper RV I built this year! Check out the build below👍🏻 th-cam.com/play/PL0nCuCrPaFDs0DiettnjCiTN9ZLnbPSn4.html
Love the build, very clean. I’d also think it would be a good idea to build “modules” that you could put in depending on what and where you’d be camping. Maybe a bigger “module” w more drawers that could be pulled out, or maybe build the entire unit on one of those slide out bed shelves, would be cool to slide the entire build out and sleep under the stars if it was temp and weather sufficient! Just an idea…..
This is surgical and i love it! People take too many short cuts and under build these days so this is a refreshing project you are accomplishing, I hope you get to enjoy it!
It was very well done. Only thing I would do Is put a drawer at the foot of the bed for cooking supplies, easy access. But it definitely looks better than anything I can do lol.
one change I'd make is with that power strip... you can get the power strip with usb plugs...something that will save you time ... charge up that phone, tablet etc. Nice setup too!
One of the best builds I have seen! Frankenstein wiring! I've built two of the ammo box power boxes...when done you look at the rat's nest and think "Holy Shit!" But as you wire it; it all makes sense....
Gosh you're a much better man than I am! I'm too lazy to do all this build and that's why I usually just buy a slide in camper or something, where other people build it for me. This is a super nice setup man! Great work! Wish I was 1/2 as talented as you are.
I think everything is great. However and respectfully consider the idea of fold up doors on the side of the camper. You mentioned the curtains and that’s good for privacy however if you are trying to keep the heat out, The most effective way is to keep the sunlight out. That being said, on these small doors that you could attach fairly easily, you could also install small solar panels and gas struts that would hold them up. They would also provide additional security and shelter if needed. I do not agree with putting gas bottles into a cabinet. You could have a gas leak and it could fill the entire cabin creating a bad situation.
Love the build! I'm looking to do something similar with my truck! Was wondering where you got all of your pouches at, what you use to hold you toothbrush and all the upper drawer ones?
It's super sweet. But I highly recommend doing it with a sprinter van rather than an f150. There's just a tremendous amount of room. We're talking enough for a tiny sink, stand up room, actual storage room, tiny desk and even a upward work space. This would be low key awesome for the weekend but beyond that, you realistically would prefer more space on the road. But this is totally awesome. Not knocking.
Very clean install. I really like what you've done. I've wondered about doing something similar to my Chevy Silverado, so you've given me some great ideas.
I just got my g2 license in Canada (I can drive by myself just not on the highway yet till the full g) and I'm so excited for my full g to get a pick up and deck out the back like you. You made it so smooth and not busy. I don't at all have the expertise for that so that end part with the wiring will help. Thanks for making this short little video, it's inspiring💙
Incredible job!!! Have u considered doing a set up on the the new f-150 lighting? There’s a ton of new features that would be super helpful for this kind of adventuring!!

Me too. With the way this is built I just slide the bed and cabinet out and I virtually have full access again. That was one of the main design thoughts for this. I buy and use a lot of plywood, so I still need to use my truck as a truck.
no doubt this is the best truck bed camper ive ever seen, the detail and covering the interior with material is amazing
👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome job. In case you missed it the carpet on floor and sides are made by Bed Rug and I like the pocket screw joinery.
I have a Bed Rug too in my factory carpeted Snug Top topper but thats all. I’d love to have this setup but with a wife we like our 19 ft high clearance trailer. Hmmm 🤔 this would make a great winter shop project! Thanks.
Thanks!
Dude, great set up. Not wanting to do full size campers anymore, this inspires me to get back into camping. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
Very nice setup. I had a topper on my truck and back in the 1970-80's, nothing as nice as what you have since it was also a work truck for my side business. My wife and I would go primitive camping in it and as newly weds we spent many a good weekend in the state parks of Florida and Georgia.
Thank you👍🏻
You did an amazing job. It looks clean, comfortable and functional. I like that you left enough room to move or to put a cooler or backpack.
Thanks👍🏻
What a set up. Cleanest and most organized I’ve ever seen! Awesome job man!
Thanks👍🏻
Dude. This is the best truck camper I've ever seen. Super nice, super clean, organized, spacious, very nicely done!
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
To eliminate excessive weight I would use pvc tubing for the frame and an air bed. A note… high density foam absorbs odors and weighs a lot. TY 4 the brainstorming ideas!
👍🏻
Very clean build, sensible and well thought out!
Thanks Chuck!
Thanks Paul👍🏻
Fantastic build! Well-thought out, organized, clean and lots of special touches. Really nice job!
Thank you👍🏻
Wow, just.
Cheers 🍻🍻 thanks for the kind words👍🏻
Nice dude. I started doing this in 1994 with a 1982 toyota pickup. Currently is set up in my 1988 GMC Sierra 4x4.
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic! Simple, stylish, looks comfy and safe…well done, very well done, love it.
Thank you Linda👍🏻
Best truck camping setup I’ve ever seen! Very organized!
Thank you Nikki😃👍🏻
I had a bed rug in my 2002 dodge pickup with a cap. Loved it, made moving furniture much easier. logs, tool, camping gear, no problem. Cleaned up easily.
👍🏻👍🏻
That is NICE! This makes so much more sense to me to than a camper van or trailer. Especially if you're just out in nature, this is all a man needs. Bed looks super cozy.
Thank you👍🏻
Brian, your video has been the top video suggesting my truck camper build video so I thought I’d pop on over and check your build out. Great job, man! I built my bed about 11” high and sometimes wish for the extra head room, but it’s such a balance between function and comfort in such a small space. Keep up the great content…going to see how your first night went!
Thanks so much👍🏻👍🏻
this is hands down the best build ive seen. everything has a purpose and its not over complicated
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
its kinda like Mav's setup as well, awesome!
The only thing that’s like mavs setup is there is a bed and a battery in it.
Yeah mavs setup is sick way better then this
That's the coolest simplicity for one person camper/survival set up I have seen make a beautiful hunting set up
👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job! It's got all the basics covered very well. Obviously, there is no upper limit to how fancy one could go with any sort of camper build but this one should do a decent job of providing short term shelter that requires minimal effort to use. Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
You put together a super well designed and organized truck camper shell. Pretty incredible the amount of powdered options you put in and yet you don't have wires running loose everywhere, that's great work 👍. I love truck camping. I have a Chevy Classic Conversion Van with the full-on EXPLOYER Co package. Great for quick weekends and fishing trip camping.
Thank you👍🏻👍🏻
Watching videos like this make me want to something like this so bad with my old Tundra... except I need the bed haha.
Check out the build below👍🏻

Thanks👍🏻
Fold down bed that when flipped up, has 2 chairs that fold out from its bottom if you have a friend visit for a game of cards.😂
This is surgical and i love it! People take too many short cuts and under build these days so this is a refreshing project you are accomplishing, I hope you get to enjoy it!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Looks fantastic. I'm in the process of planning out additional accessory wiring for my truck, and I really like your solution; very clean.
Thanks bud!
A real simple setup and would certainly suit my needs. Good job! 😎👍
Thank you👍🏻
It was very well done. Only thing I would do Is put a drawer at the foot of the bed for cooking supplies, easy access. But it definitely looks better than anything I can do lol.
Thank you👍🏻
Great setup, you are really good at explaining what you have done with the camper, thank you!
Thank you!
I'm impressed. Simple, logical and not anymore or any less than what's needed. Nice job
Thank you sir!
one change I'd make is with that power strip... you can get the power strip with usb plugs...something that will save you time ... charge up that phone, tablet etc. Nice setup too!
Good point. I’ll be making a new camper and will look at that👍🏻
Great setup! It’s so clean and tidy. Wish I could have a setup like this in the back of my Jeep Compass but not enough space haha
Thank you👊🏻
“I got my bear spray holder” yeah okay we’ll go with that
👍🏻
One of the best builds I have seen!
Frankenstein wiring!
I've built two of the ammo box power boxes...when done you look at the rat's nest and think "Holy Shit!"
But as you wire it; it all makes sense....
Lol. Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing build bro. This is exactly what’s been in my head for years. Perfect. Going to carbon copy this plan💯. Love it🔥Thanks for posting.
Thanks David👍🏻👍🏻
Very clean setup, Brian! Simple and looks aesthetically pleasing! :D
Thank you MiMi👍🏻👍🏻
Gosh you're a much better man than I am! I'm too lazy to do all this build and that's why I usually just buy a slide in camper or something, where other people build it for me.
This is a super nice setup man! Great work! Wish I was 1/2 as talented as you are.
Thank you👍🏻
I think everything is great.
Thank you👍🏻
I’m 1 minute into this video and can already tell you watch CrazyQuady lol
Yessir, he was some inspiration on this. I tried to give him props when I thought if it.
Very interesting. I’m not sure why I like videos of guys setting up their trucks for camping, but it’s actually interesting! Looks great!
Thanks Melanie👍🏻
Love the build! I'm looking to do something similar with my truck! Was wondering where you got all of your pouches at, what you use to hold you toothbrush and all the upper drawer ones?
Thanks bud. Most of the pouches are Maxpedition pouches. Some of them are just generic “edc” pouches I found on Amazon.
Awesome build! I probably missed this, but how do you charge that battery?
I can either charge with shore power, my trucks dc outlet or a solar panel I keep in the truck.
👍🏻👍🏻
Very clean install. I really like what you've done. I've wondered about doing something similar to my Chevy Silverado, so you've given me some great ideas.
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
I just got my g2 license in Canada (I can drive by myself just not on the highway yet till the full g) and I'm so excited for my full g to get a pick up and deck out the back like you. You made it so smooth and not busy. I don't at all have the expertise for that so that end part with the wiring will help. Thanks for making this short little video, it's inspiring💙
Congrats bud👍🏻 good luck on your build👊🏻
This guy is respectful and intelligent, the set up is great simple and neat very well organized and put together
Thank you👍🏻
Incredible job!!! Have u considered doing a set up on the the new f-150 lighting? There’s a ton of new features that would be super helpful for this kind of adventuring!!
Lol. I wish!
I was highly impressed by the electrical work. Much Respect.
Thanks Cory👍🏻
Pretty cool. A big bus or even a UHauler is out of the question, just too big. This is perfect !
👍🏻
CrazyQuady replica haha very nice build sir
He did absolutely give me some ideas!
