The fact that it sounds like early Darkthrone is EXACTLY why I like it so much! I can't find hardly anything that captures that sound. What Black Metal band captures that early, Transalvanian Hunger style sound, that you think is better?
Also, to answer your second question, try the band "Adversus Semita", their album "The Ecstacy of Sin"; one of the riffs in that album practically sounds like Transylvanian Hunger's main riff but inverted. It's also really lo-fi, maybe even moreso than DT.

entitled to opinions as everyone is to those who want to dispute being over rated or under rated Judas Iscariot as a project has had it's ups and downs like any other band. Black Metal being as stand offish as it is i always find it hilarious how fans get bent all out of shape when an artist doesn't pander to them. Im not speaking from a position of pretentious snobbery, i remember before the days of the internet in the good ol' "tape trading" days an American Black Metal scene was this next to non existent and the bands that were around were just as obscure, I remember PAXUXU,VON,Khisanth,Bloodstorm, Masochist (RIP) ABSU,Black Funeral, just off the top of my head (it's been a long time). When Judas Iscariot's demo came out iremember people having a mixed response to it, but the general consensus was that it was our (U.S.) version of a norwegian style black metal sound or in layman's terms the American Burzum or Darkthrone as stated in the video. U.S. Black Metal had a style of it's own which in myopinion was it's unique, and what i personally loved about it. In those days we supported bands because in most cases it was all we had access to and that was that. If bands were horrible enough they didn't last. I'm from New Jersey we had Krieg, Abazogorath, the rest was all thrash metal and death metal, it was a huge difference than what exists today. Judas Iscariot maybe over rated to people who are just discovering black metal now, or weren't around in the 90's but it is only because they have options to listen to something better and no nostalgia attached to it. These recordings stand as the foundation and a monument to the early days of American Black Metal.

It took me a while to get into Judas Iscariot honestly. I honestly feel the same throughout all your album reviews. I did not like much of his earlier albums. I adore "Damned Below Judas", and a few other tracks off The Cold Earth Slept Below, but aside that, I found it to be a relatively boring and low-effort album, with drumming that sounded fatigued. My favorite albums are definitely his last two for sure, though; they are powerful, way better in terms of effort and production, and some sick fucking riffs and atmospheres to be found amongst them. The band does sound like Darkthrone worship, but honestly, I don't mind that, because I always was looking for other bands with that similar sound. I do also like how he has a pretty heavy Graveland sound in his later work as well.
Sounds great!!! I saw a couple of your WM videos and I think you are doing a really great job, and if SW video is not gonna happen I think that Horna, Kampfar, Watain, Nocturnal Depression or Urgehal would be amazing too!!! DownFall NetWork I'm surprised you like Horna and Sargeist and not Satanic Warmaster. Especially given Werewolf/Nazguls role in early Horna. If your willing, give SW a another chance. He's put out alot of awesome material.
Akhenaten is a pharaoh, not an Egyptian god. His name translates to "the servant of the god Aton" and was a pharaoh that tried to establish monotheism in Egypt and outcast polytheism by worshipping Ra, the god of the sun. He was also the father of Tutankhamun. His attempts weren't successful, as the priesthood and the people of Egypt resisted against him.
