    Wow- that turn 4 was insane. No spoilers but I'm surprised at how efficiently Pyro's deck can protect itself, despite not having access to most of the best interaction in the format.

    This is one of my favorite recent games! Between Mike and Pyro’s interaction war, Ryan just saying “screw it” and dumping all of his dice on Ishai, and Cal FINALLY making his gameplay debut, I couldn’t stop smiling as I watched every play!

    The elking of ishai was definitely questionable when the Rashmi player was probably the least threatening person up to that point. Korvold can just win games from nothing just like this game showed.

    One is how you perfectly explain though a visual aid on why Ad nauseam is considered cedh. I never thought of the card for edh at all until I saw just how many cards it draws.
    Two is I am super glad only blue has a lab maniac win line that wants an empty library.

    Question for Cal (as someone who recently built Rashmi, myself): When I saw the opening hand, my expected sequencing was t1 Vault, t2 Rashmi, t3 Carpet and draw. Now that does allow for interaction on turns one or two, but the opening draw contained no interaction, anyway. Can you explain why you sequenced Carpet first, which does not allow for a t2 Rashmi, and still does not allow for t2 interaction?

    • @SenorCoupon
      @SenorCoupon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My thought here, though, is that the sequencing I had in mind nets you an extra card, and makes your tap out turn earlier, both of which seem like wins in my mind, but I have, like 2-3 total Rashmi games under my belt, so I am not assuming I am right and you are wrong, I just want to know why I am wrong.

    This is so cool. I’m a relatively new and pretty terrible commander player, and I never watch gameplay because it’s so hard for me to keep track of all that’s going on, what with creators just assuming you know what the cards do. Yet even at this level of gameplay, you took the time and effort to show triggers, the stack, and each play in a clear way. I’ve always been so intimidated by cEDH because it seems so intimidating to a newer player, but this was the only mtg gameplay video I’ve ever truly understood. Thank you so much. That korvold deck is sick and once i’ve got the piloting skills, I’ll assemble it myself :)

    • @PlayingWithPowerMTG
      @PlayingWithPowerMTG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I honestly think it's a pretty bad hand, but that's just because there's like... one too many mana sources. If there had even been a cantrip or some kind of interaction in there, I think its a very defensible keep, but its a bit of a rough one as is. - Cal

    Just a nitpick... "fizzle" isn't the correct term when "can't be countered" effects are taken into account: Force of Will still resolves, it just doesn't do anything.
    This would be relevant if, for example, instead of Force of Will, that was a Pact of Negation: the spell isn't countered, but the player will still have to pay for Pact in their next upkeep.

    • @TomGalonska
      @TomGalonska 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happened to me the last time we played. The feeling of paying for a pact that did absolutely nothing is not great, not gonna lie :D

    • @TheSpiritombsableye
      @TheSpiritombsableye 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spell doesn't fizzle but the spells effect does fizzle. The terminology is correct.

    • @TomGalonska
      @TomGalonska 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSpiritombsableye Fizzle isn't an official term since the 6th edition rule change, so technically you can use it however you want. But prior to said rule change it was the official term for a spell/abillity not resolving because the target was missing/illegal, and it's still used like that in the community today. So it's a bit confusing if you use it any other way (like in the video)

    • @TheSpiritombsableye

    • @TomGalonska
      @TomGalonska 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSpiritombsableye The point is, that "fizzling" has a very defined meaning for most players that differs from the use in this video. What happened in the video is NOT a spell "fizzling" under pre 6th edition rules. What was your point with "mill"?

    I play against a friend’s Rashmi deck a lot. We play High Power-cEDH level, and he literally has bore them all out as a win con. Basically just grinding value and countering others wincons. Depending on the table, no one has enough aggro to just kill them and we just FF once a game goes past an hour mark. He enjoys it and we accept it as it’ll basically win over time with a Nexus Loop anyways.
