Emmanuel Segun-Lean i don't think it's "weakened" it's just become vulnerable to our mindfulness and we can build it in a way that it needs to be reconstructed. So weakened isn't the best word for that but it makes some sense

not to be a sad guy but religion is God. Religion is the reconnection of humans and God. Religion is important. Relationship with Jesus is our religion basically

    • @matthewpalm2483
      @matthewpalm2483 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Definitions are important. There are quite a few in this discussion which are important to wrestle with which will help to guide our discussions.
      Oxford Definition for Religion:
1)The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
2)A particular system of faith and worship.
3)A pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.
Religion isn't bad. There are people who unfortunately use it in ways not with God or glorifying God.

It aligns with a book I recently read as well as a conversation with Mi Mom. I’ve always been the open honest freedom of speech type. For Mi family members they have so many health issues from not addressing anything for whatever reason, keeping the peace, ashamed, too Godly, etc. They don’t hear Mi when I explain how they’re not free to be themselves, behind the facade. So, 1 the book, 2 the conversation and 3/4 Pastor/Scientist the only way to weaken a thing is to address that thing. To God be the glory.

With anxiety depression and panic attacks. I know exactly what she’s talking about. I have to retrain my mind. Thank you pastor for doing this amazing series. My therapist told me to find a safe spot in my mind. I tried one on my own. But that wasn’t it. But I heard your sermon about Jesus calming the storm. Just by getting in the boat with the disciples. So now my safe place is in the boat with Jesus. I always said. I got out of the boat when I did something on my own which didn’t cause panic attacks. But now I’m in the boat with Jesus who is calming my fears. Thank you.

Kelly Rowland I have to visually imagine my safe place. I sit down quiet 🤫 my mind. If I have a hard time. I picture Jesus Stan one time to me. Then I see myself in a boat. Jesus standing I. The boat while I sit. We are on the shore. Ocean 🌊 barely touching the boat. Like when you stand at the edge of the ocean and the water barely hits your toes. I just see that over and over again. In therapy I learned tapping. TH-cam it. EFT tapping. I do things that use both my brains. So I color draw or craft. Moving the body helps to. Walk around your yard. Or take a walk. No headphones. Just walk. You’ll realize you are moving. Which is better than sitting. And your mind can’t wonder because it’s moving.

wow, I totally agree with you sister! Having grown up in church, I am coming to a point of frustration where it seems like nobody can help me. I'm given all the 'right words' but it's not enough or helping. Like, who am I meant to be? Judgement has been passed by many, even and especially those closest to me - not that I let anyone truly get that close due to 'internal wounds' (that they say don't exist and that I just have to get over/overcome[but they fail to deal with in their own lives...})L.O.L. #Inception #squirrel...
They seem to be unable to draw me out - in love bring about my hearts confession of that which God created me to be and do (be first). They want me to say the right things... read the Bible over the Honda Manuel that God spoke to me deeply and personally though regarding identity and the thoughts/plans He has for me. He made all and can use a donkey to speak to us - where we are at. Thank you for sharing that. "You need counseling?" "You go to a recovery group?" "You have issues?" yeah, and you don't? ;P #DENIAL! Thank you all for reading and letting me share. =)

My goodness, can not believe people would treat you as such, mainly "Christians". Know that a person who truly has God in their heart would never make fun of someone's condition (regardless of what it is) I'm so happy you decided to give yourself to God! Congrats! You are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) You CAN go to Church. Don't let anything or anyone stop you. Look at the thirst you have for the word of God! Sadly now days we stop going to church because people gossip and they are Hippocrates, I myself have been in the situation but I understand that I'm there to worship God, to be closer to him and can't let people affect my relationship with God. Also know that church is not a building. Church is the people. God says where 2 or three are gathered in my name I will be there. Matthew 18: 19-20. And not only that God says " I am with you always, to the end of the age" Matthew 28:20. He will never forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6) even if you are at home or anywhere and are watching a sermon or reading his word, praying to him or worshipping him, know that he is there for you and with you!! Even if you don't attend a physical church. And you can't love what you don't know. So the more you get to know him (by reading/listening to his word) the more your love will grow, also peace and faith! May God bless you greatly!! 🙏

Unfortunately something is required in order to prevent it becoming a social club. Paul was operating in a different environment than we are today and consequently different conditions for trust. There is still the human impetus toward love, and we'd like to bring righteousness along with it. How much is holiness in our thoughts? With god all things are possible.

I understand you, i had a run in with a Christian cult and almost lost faith.. But.. Don't remember people go to church not because they are good people, but because they are sinners, and want to be saved, want to be closer to God and Jesus and truth... I guess we shouldn't look at the weakest link in the church but look and focus on the best Christian example in the Church and focus on the Bible and your own growth through the Bible ...

@@mariadelacruz2646 the Bible cannot contradict itself... Hebrews 10:25 reads "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;... " anything that states any different is NOT the truth... God's Word is truth. I have had to go to a different church, but I have NOT stopped going to church. In my personal experience, the enemy wants me to separate myself from others... divide and conquer, it has been the enemy's tactic since the beginning... May the Lord heal you and bring you to a God Spirit filled church! Be blessed, do not let any human keep you away from the house of God! 🙏

I understand her completely. A lot of christians take words from the bible and throw it at a situation or throw it at the enemy instead of living in it , walking in it, and working through it. The concept the Holy Spirit is using her to speak to is John 1:1 : In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. If we are commanded to be like Christ, then it is also commanded that we must be with the word and BE the word, meaning live by the underlining lessons and act in it's underlining practices to see change.

MalayaM. It is no secret that Christians dismiss real problems. Most of them overlook the power of empathy scripture instructs us to have towards others, especially towards those who are in need. However, prayer is the most effective solution anyone can advise someone to do in crisis. Who are mere people to resolve ANY situation that not only did God foreknow, but also allowed? Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours (Mark 11:24. ). "Just Pray" is the wisest advice anyone can give.

Growing up with the curse of addiction in my family, early abuse and all out chaos in my late teens and early 20's, I surrendered myself to rehab for 6 months and put what pieces of my life I had left on hold. The MOST important thing I did was sit down in those chairs in the meetings and shut my mouth. And sat with my pain, anguish and self destructive choices. A buddy showed me some stuff with Pastor Steven. Fast forward after the program a pastor from a church I went to in Colorado told me about Dr. Leaf, and this resonates so loud with me. It's seriously one thought, one choice, one day at a time ❤️

Did a 4 yr psych degree a few years ago and had to laugh whenever I heard students or professors make distinctions between science and God, when in truth God IS science, God IS math, God IS art, metaphysics etc . . the universe, our galaxy, our bodies and our minds all work on the intricate, balanced and logical, though miraculous systems GOD has created them to. I swear, the more I understand, the more I love Him and am in absolute awe of (lets say) Him ~ Blessings

Wow man of God,stay true and you'll grow strong in Christ. Not many pastor's can go out in public with their weaknesses. God bless you enrich you to help others. I'm inspired. This is a struggle for Christians, the mind is the battlefield. We are called in Romans 12:2 to renew our minds. Thanks and blessing. Dr Leaf you are God send to help the body of Christ. Blessing to you too

I appreciate how he can be vulnerable and honest about his experiences.
Funny how I had the love zone freak out today and I struggled to make the right decision just this afternoon and I have been reading over and over the scriptures but I still felt hurt and angry.
I have been on TH-cam all day listening to sermons on anger, unforgiveness and the mind generally.
    Thank you for this.

Pastor Steven Furtick offers the church the opportunity to live vulnerable. Although pastors have to choose their confidants carefully, from this interview it appears that being able to evaluate our own thinking is the answer to thriving spiritually. As a man thinkers in his heart, so is he; takes on a whole new meaning.

The Bible says when you search for me with all your heart you will find me. But this message is saying it’s through learning to think. I will always go with what the Bible says.

This is phenomenal and so freeing. Growing up in church my whole life, there has been a background guilt in working through issues because we're taught not to focus on those things.

I don't know where the Doc is from, but her accent sounds South African, like mine. I praise God for not being a "local" God, but a universal God, using people from all over the world, to bring me His message. I thank our Heavenly Father for letting my path cross with that of Pastor S. Furtick, even if it is over the internet. May your cup overflow Pastor. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

Ten years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to attend one of Dr Leaf’s three day seminars. I’m not a “smarty” by any stretch of the imagination, but how she explained and demonstrated complex neuroscience had a huge impact on me. What I learned helped me process extremely difficult life events a couple years later. Where normally someone would spend years in counseling, I was spared having used her methods, along with a lot of faith. I am living a very positive and healthy life. I recommend her book, “Who Switched Off My Brain.” And for couples, “Who Switched Off Your Brain.” Thank you, Pastor Furtick, for doing this special service with Dr. Leaf. You are both big blessings!

I have always gone to YAHWEH with my emotions: brokenness, fear, joy, whatever because that is the only thing I have known to do. Just as King David did. He poured out his heart to GOD. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter and HE reveals secrets and manifests solutions/truths to our issues. To me, this is a revelation of how it all works. I wasn't raised in Church so I don't know religion. I just know JESUS. I have one of Dr. Leaf's books: Switch On Your Brain. It is a bit technical, so I have gotten past chapter 3. It would be nice to have it translated to laymen's terms to it can be digested better for lay people. Still, I love these two for all the work GOD is doing through them. YAHWEH designed our brain. So thankful for Dr. Leaf's study to help us understand our gift from YAHWEH.🙏❤🙏❤🙏
