- First job on the list with the T5 build series is to upgrade the steering wheel as the one on it is super tired and worn out, I do need to make the inside a little more comfortable for the kids as we are having a day out in London to see the Christmas lights. Can I get it done in time?

Love your vids, I’ve been following for a while and thanks to your caddy vids Ive bought a ex British Gas caddy to do Touran seat conversion and all the other cool stuff that you have shown us how to do on your videos. Without your vids showing how to do mods in such detail I wouldn’t have had the confidence to even attempt half of it, so thanks for the effort you put in to teaching us, keep up the top work👌

Great vids bud, done loads of T5/6 etc and the best method I found for those stubborn trim clips is a wood screw in mole grips, push in and pull sharp, always gets them out 👍🏻

My method for the trim clips is to use a pair of circlip pliers. Wedge them in between the inner and outer and then start to unscrew. The taper part of the pliers wedges s the outer towards the board and jams it and also pulls the inner outwards. Advantage over a screwdriver is that is grips two sides of the clip not one.

Use a screw and a vice grip to just pull those trim clips out. No visible damage and makes easy work of removing them.
@dcgoride Agree easy as, wood screw, a couple of turns and pull...so easy.

Great idea to paint the plastics, got a T5 myself and door cards are horrible so think al get them painted 💪🏻
When you go back and spray glue in your insulation you best use high temperature spray glue because summer temps because the standard spray glue to melt off and your insulation falls. Before you final board and insulate you should run some wiring and add rear touch on/off ceiling lights and wall mounted reading lights on stalks with built in USB sockets for the kids.

My advice with the trim clips on VAG vehicles is a Stanley blade to lift it up, then slide a fork in and pop it up 👌🏽

i just use a trim removal tool to remove those clips, justt slot between head of fastener and base and the pretty much fall out. ive been sound deadening /insulating/ ply lining my caddy this week,. Enjoy your London trip with the wife n kids mate, great channel this, i love it.
Dodo deadn will transform the noise levels. Do the door cards too and it’ll sound a whole lot more solid inside. Worth the money if you spend time in your van.

They do a deep side step with a light that goes over your wood floor if needed pal. Can have a light in there too.

Wood screw is definitely the way to go, I’ve welded a wood screw on the end of an old screw driver to remove those trim clips, just twist in and pull.

I did have like 5 different steering wheels in mine and I am not done yet. Maybe I am a sucker for these different wheels, who knows. Additionally I have removed the steering wheel multiple times when I added the cruise control. At the moment I have a B7 passat steering wheel with all the multifunction buttons (I have a facelift T5 which came from the factory a similar wheel but with plastic version without the multifunction stuff). I am looking for an actual golf 6 Gti or scirocco perforated wheel that is compatible with the van in terms of the mfsw buttons and looks absolutely the best in my book.
BTW the bag is not going to blow in your face luckily however when you leave the battery on and do this like that it'll give an airbag error later on you need to clear with a scantool. Also when you do the passenger side side panel with the airbag off switch it will do the same, so whatever you do related to airbags it is recommended to disconnect the battery to save some hassle.
So glad you changed that steering wheel. I noticed it in the previous video and thought ‘thats absolutely hanging’ 😂 hope you have a nice safe trip to London 👍🏾

Good job Nathan . I put that mark five steering in mine bud had to switch wiring loom round too . We have the same is issues bud . Keep up the great work mate . Things like to try us but we love finding the solutions . Best car ive ever had peugeot 505 GTI Estate 7 seater Candy apple green ,those windows look so mint realy kool .there were some BMW Bonnet and boot badges chinese on ebay ,they said BNW ,I SWEAR ,£2,99 a packet off 2 .

You can pick up panels the same as stock for about a tenner each from a van fitter. Much easier and nor expensive than doing it yourself.

There is nothing wrong with using house insulation to do your van at £44 for 12ft you can’t go wrong with it. At the end of the day insulation is insulation. It made me chuckle when you got the hammer and chisels out to take the last clip out cos I would have done that to all of them😂😂. This van is coming a long very quickly

Great vid but you can get a one big piece of ply for the roof, I did with mine and it looks loads better. Try a local wood merchants. Keep them coming and enjoy your Christmas trip. 👍🏻

Trim clips use a wood screw. Push and unscew.

Coming along nicely. If you can get hold of a genuine VW rubber floor for the back it makes a hell of a difference to the sound deadening I found. Pricey if you buy new but converter’s usually sell them on when their converting the vans onto campers. Easy to clean with dogs and kids too

Vans looking great 👍 did you try the wiring loom under the passenger seat? Common fault in the transporter.. the fuel garage wire snaps. Happened to me when I took the seats out! 🙄
Vans coming on well pal. Could you not adapt the top centre seatbelt cap/cover thing from your original double front seats to work on your back seat? Might soften the blow slightly

Have you ever seen the guy online with the bmw E38 he wants to change the badge in his steering wheel so he goes at it with a screw driver while he is sat in drivers seat he starts prizing the bmw badge out off the centre and boom screw driver through cheek teeth gone glasses gone .its funny but sad .
