You’re so right about the recommendations, but asking for them is not my fave thing to do!

Just think about how glad you would be to help someone else with a recommendation. They surely will be just as happy to help you :)

The trick to getting recommendations is to write a draft (2-5 sentences) for them so they just have to copy, paste, & revise it.
Include the link to your profile so they don’t have to hunt you down.
The easier you make it for them, the more likely they are to do it.

Don’t forget to reciprocate! If you leave a recommendation for them first, then they are way more likely to respond in kind.

Given that resumes need to be customized for each job being applied for, optimizing keywords, is the LinkedIn profile supposed to be updated as well for each role?????

Great question! I would just utilize the fact that LinkedIn allows you to add up to 50 skills whereas that would be overkill on the resume :)

I disagree with the recommendations; nobody cares about that anymore. This is so 15 years ago when people had recommendations. Nobody cares anymore and when I look a people that have the best jobs they barely have any. I can get at least 100 recommendations but my skills and experience speak for themselves and I don't need them.
