The question is not what the newly established Church gave or how much they gave, but to whom the giving was purposed for? Acts Chapter 2 tells us who all this giving was purposed for. Acts 2: 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and HAD ALL THINGS IN COMMON; 45 And SOLD THEIR POSSESSIONS AND GOODS, and PARTED THEM TO ALL MEM, AS EVERY MAN HAD NEED. That was the essence of new Church giving. Anything else is a lie.
Thanks. Tithe teachers don't use those verses at all that you cited. Nor do they give an example from the New Testament after the resurrection of Christ. It's either Abram or from Matt 23:23 to justify their ignorance of tithing or Malachi 3.
I believe tithing is taught and God gave the standard at 10%! For how can anyone trust their heart that is deceitful and desperately wicked?? And what is 10 cents from a dollar? But the 90 cents left is still God's! But I love to tithe 10% for the glory of God!
Just a follow up question, Tim referred to all of the passages dealing with "10%" and even showed the Bible taught a tithe larger than 10%, even something like 30% when you combine them all. How can you reconcile your idea with the Scriptures? Paul clearly emphasis the Lord wants our hearts and a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:6-7)-and on that note you say, "_how can anyone trust their heart that is deceitful_", well Jesus actually says in Luke 8:15 that the believer has a good and honest heart. The believer still has the flesh, but God has given them a new heart. @@illbehonest Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it! However, I believe God has set, the standard at 10% because of our wicked heart. Does He not get to keep the 90% which is still His? I was once homeless and losing everything, even while I worked. But one day, I chose to tithe 10% of my paycheck over paying my electric bill. I lost my electricity for 5 days and cried in a cold shower. The upcoming Friday I was lead to check my email. I checked it and won $750 dollars from a car I sold. From that moment on, I have never, been without. I believe with my heart God was teaching me not to rob from him anymore and to tithe. In which, I love to give 10%! Even if it costs me something else. For what is a penny, from a dollar? I do of course believe Jesus told the Jews to have tithed as well in Matthew 23:23. But, I truly believe God was teaching me to tithe 10%! For I was rewarded after that 10% sacrifice was made. Thank you for listening! God bless!
Give what you want but you can't biblically tithe money from your wages . If you want to go 10 percent then just call it your offering because there is no basis for a money income tithe
You said this a long time ago 😮. I am amazed at modern churches that they are still practicing😢.
Yeah as i thought, Those who give must give out of a cheerful heart that is driven by love not to be force by 10%
he is a great teacher
Paul was collecting SOLELY for the poor saints!

You didn't find this in scripture so why do you believe to do it

When and where did God do and say that
And tithing was never money.
