    As a nation you are richer than our country. You have so much stuff. But on the other hand I'm glad we aren't as rich as you are. Riches spoil you rotten. And it's a fact.

    It is written that GOD loves a cheerful giver. The more a preacher harps on money the less cheerful I get about giving. And with 98% of all preachers money seems to be the bottom line.

    Is giving time (volunteer) a fair substitution for money? Or donating food and clothing acceptable?

      I would not view it as either or but rather as both. As we give our time to serve others often it leads us to give of our money etc. On the reverse there are some who just throw out money at the poor but never give of their time and their giving can be very superficial.
