- The plaintiff moved in with the defendant when he had to temporarily move out of his apartment. He claims the defendant used his property without permission and broke some of his items, so he’s suing for damaged property, towing costs, and storage fees. The defendant argues the plaintiff took up four of the eight bedrooms with his belongings. He says the plaintiff stabbed him, so he’s countersuing for hospital bills and anxiety.

I was thinking the same. I’m a single mom and when I finally got approved for section 8 their requirements were so ridiculous I couldn’t find a place in the time given. They wanted me to find a 1 bedroom place for no more than $1450/month including utilities in CA. I couldn’t even get approved for a 2 bedroom for me and my son, how this man has an 8 bedroom home is beyond me.
The majority of people on public assistance, are working people lol and then single moms, the elderly and disabled.

Yep. He said that he left and went out with friends because just seeing the plaintiff would cause a huge anxiety attack. He lied.
I think he also lied about the knife to the throat because there was no medical report and no police report. Plaintiff may have brandished a knife but I don't think he actually got near the defendant with it.

It's not subsidized in the sense that any government money is going towards his rent. The landlord simply isn't allowed to increase it at a fast rate. I'm more interested in what this guy does to make that much as it can't be a difficult job.
You have to consider the fact that when he got the place, he may not have had the same job and made that kind of money. I think anyone who has an opportunity to get a rent controlled place, especially in New York, would take it.
@victorcarbino8736 If I remember correctly, rent control means the rent will never increase. It's locked in at whatever rate it began with.

I had to pay for storage for 3 years when I was in hardship. Now I'm in a big home and have ALL my stuff that I decided to keep. Didn't need to shop for a lot. So I get it

When you go to the hospital and/or doctor, you get a medical summary of your visit. That is what he needed to bring with his bill.

Getting $350 a day that's $1,750 a week give and take after taxes. Why can't he live alone,It's a bit weird this case.
Because in order to move into a NEW PLACE you need SEVERAL THINGS including 1st last and security, which is 2 or 3 months of rent UP FRONT as well as passing a background check which usually includes a credit check and a review of your criminal history, all of which many, not all but many, landlords require BEFORE you can rent a place. It’s A LOT, especially here in NYC, which is where they live and where I live so trust me, I know.

Trust meeeeee, I know what kind of “apartment” they’re talking about. It’s like a drug den stuffed with shiftless, dramatic people like this. You’re better off with section 8. They’re usually lofts (high ceilinged former warehouses) that “artists” carve little “rooms” into. At best, it was probably just a giant, open space and more than likely was completely illegal and a giant fire hazard.

PSS My dad was a WW2 Vet. He was trained in carpentry after the war. He developed his own beautiful northern New Mexican style of carpentry woodworking that's got a permanent and special place in the fine arts museums in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I've got a couple of pieces that he carved for me for my high school and university graduations, and a beautiful lamp for a marriage that went bust. I keep those. The rest I've given to my boys. They love the furniture and lamps, but I can't expect them to treat the pieces with loving care like I treated them. They know how I feel about my dad. They know I loved and respected him. He was an honorable man. He deserved respect. I miss my dad so much. I wish my boys had had the gift of more time with him. But such is life. I'm grateful for what I had, and immensely grateful and appreciative for what he left me - especially the life lessons. I miss you, Dad. 💐❤️... But, God is good, nevertheless. Love wins. ❤️
