Even like the caravan, as grindy as it is atm.
Ahhh, time to go back and actually complete this on... well, any of my characters, lol. Even the one still around since beta. Thank you for helping make this not so painfully slow! (The photos one was what got me... some weren't counting and I never went back after the 2nd try lol) Also, props to KATAPAN for repping the positive FO76 community. You don't see that kind of interaction/behaviour in other games, and it's a nice thing to know some gamers are still considerate, caring people, rather than just toxic nightmares online. 🙂
Glad that helped you! Yeah, you normally get the goals as you play but when you want the backpack it just get tedious. And yes, well done to Katapan :D
You forgot mutations. The first thing I did after creating my mule character (which is what you need the big backpack for) was to get speed demon, bird bones, eagle eyes, marsupial, etc… It makes everything so much easier. Also intelligence boost helps you level up quickly to get all the various perk cards you need quickly. I maxed out my strength and intelligence ASAP. That along with some cranberry relish, brain bombs and Berry Mentats allowed me to level up about 50 levels a day. By the end of day 5 I was already at level 250 with basically everything I needed. Then it was to become an Enclave General, launch a nuke, finish the main quest line and get Secret Service Armor with jetpack and deep pockets mods to hold everything. Total time from start to finish was 5 days of playtime. The biggest pain in the behind was the syringing the Yao Guai, because I kept killing them by accident prior to syringing them. It took me maybe 8 server hops and bear encounters before I was able to kill it with the syringer. That was a pain! 😂
DONT CHASE +120 backpack. Get this basic +60 from main scout missions and then buy CHEM plan from Minerva. Its 260 bullion and you will get -90% weight on all chems. That is worth a lot more than additional +60 carry + you will save 3 strenght perk points to use on something else.
If you get the backpack plus the right 3 star legendary mods on your armor pieces, you can be walking out with tooons of food and aid items and still have plenty of carry weight left for rando stuff
i have done these quests 13 times now, in my experience if you have a single friend in the game or just find a nice high level player who understands what you're trying to get just doing stings and things, operation tidy, swimmer, athlete and archer are in my experience the fastest, my best time to date on getting the big backpack is like 150 minutes.
@@troublemakerbros4267it’s +10 per back pack level. So if you have a lvl 60 back pack then it’s +60 carry weight. IMO so worth it but grinding for badges sucks ass. Just server hop and find someone selling the mods at their camp. You’ll get them much sooner that way then trying earn them yourself lol
I did stings and things and operation tidy daily for a week and got 5 possum badges in that 1 week. If you just start doing those 2 dailies i guarantee you'll have the backpack mod in 2 weeks or less. They have a "small" chance at giving a possum badge on completion and i swear it feels like a good 25% chance or so.
I'm level 175, most of the quests done, but I've completely ignored the scout quests, I find it annoying, so I still have a small backpack. But I'm using the Excavator armor to carry stuff, so I'll probably ignore these quests going forward.
"Sprinting past enemies" the ghouls catch up to me while I have speed demon/squad maneuvers. It's mentally stunted on Bethesda's part to allow every single ghoul to be a cross country LEGEND
made a new acct, came back to this video after hitting lvl 50. probably couldve did it sooner while leveling up but graveyard shift doesnt help your quick thinking
I've done that Campfire Tales hundreds of time and don't recall ever getting a Possum badge for it, although I know you are supposed to have a chance at getting one.
Almost a week of doing the dailies and still 0 possum badges. Yes I have the Standard (+60) backpack. Not sure if just really unlucky or I'm missing something else.
It definitely isn't a 25% drop rate as everyone seems to report. I've done both of the two dailies on eight days over the course of the last month since I started playing, and I haven't gotten a single badge from either. I also do Campfire Tales each time it pops up, and I've gotten nothing from it either. If it were a 25% drop rate, then I should have gotten four from the dailies alone, or at least one by now lol
@thelastlostcause4148 so funny enough, I just got my first badge off the goo clean up daily Makes it like 1 outta 15 ish if I count the camp events. 😅
Fun fact with the crossbow and getting kills. Throw a grenade at a group of enemies than vats your grenade than shoot with your crossbow…grenade does more damage than your crossbow and any kills you get should count as crossbow kills. This worked for me and made the slog of crossbow kills much easier.
For me the easiest I think is archer - athlete - mammalogist. I did codebreaker instead of archer before but it requires to have access to nukes which is annoying for mule characters.
Yeah, if you can't afford the perk points then that's the break even point. If you carry more than 60 food or chems then the gold mods start to be better than high capacity.
@@capelech9032 Basically, use the chem bp mod so you can drop chem weight redux perk in strength and use those 3 perk points on damage mod for heavy weapon or shotgun, something like that. Yeah, there are some ways to shift things around that a lot of players aren't aware of.
Yeah, you do have to think about them a bit more. They're not super-difficult, but you do have to plan and look up things to find where you can find things what the challenges require. That's why I recommend doing the events and daily quests to get pioneer badges.
I permanently roleplay as a pioneer scout. Clean the toxic waste has 4 locations you can get. The town right beside the npc. The other town south of the lake. Hemlock holes golf course and finally the lake itself. Tadpole badges. There are only 9 badges required to buy all the tadpole items. Hat and suit and the plans for tadpole stuff. There are 10 tadpole challenges so dont be wasting too much time as a tadpole. The challenges for badges can seem tough but they arent so bad. So maybe only stay as a tadpole until you collect just a few extra badges so you dont have to complete all the challenges. Once you are possum scout you will need to grind for badges if you want all the possum stuff. Do all the challenges doesnt get you far for possum stuff. Maybe run high luck build to get badges easier from the dailies and event if that even works. The challenges overall are fun and will kind of take you everywhere. Do these alongside the other camera challenges like taking pics in zones or the tourist camera quest to double up on getting things done. Im 700 hours in and still dont have all the possum stuff unlocked so be ready to grind. Ever Upwards campers!
Only change I made was to do codebreaking instead of hunter, but that is because I started it at like level 50, so I had lockpicking and hacking maxed.
6:27 That's a reference to Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, a children's show from the mid to late 20th century. Also you didn't say which daily quest "Helpfulness" is. I have 15 active ones currently. UPDATE: I did them all and none of them had anything to do with gathering any sort of refuse. (well, all except that broken Miss Nanny one). Had to google "toxic mutagenic waste daily" and found the daily is called Operation Tidy.
6/8 for that big backpack just from doing dailies. I've been kinda putting off really focusing on actually doing any of the actual challenges to get any. Gotten the rare campfire tale reward one as well too.
Cheers, glad that helped you! Just FYI, I'm noting that people are saying that they're not getting as many as they might expect so it could be that the devs silently reduced the drop rate. It still happens though.
Scout quests are acutally a good way for new players to learn a lot about the game. I would recommend doing them. Also going the easy way will just end up in those quests sitting there uncompleted and bugging you while you have done everything else and you will do them anyways for completion.
Yeah, I have no problem with scout quests per se. It's more the fact that they gatekeep the backpack, which is one of the most important QoL upgrades you can get. I would love more scout challenges, apparently there's uncompleted squirrel items in the game that never got released.
@@SequentialGamerFallout Gatekeep? It´s the same for everyone. And they aren´t that hard to do. At least that way not everything is just shoot a lot to get it.
So regarding that roach in the locked closet? No roof. So if you, say, have a power armor with jetpack, which you can get reasonably easy, just check the boxes and suitcases around watoga after queen fights, and someone who's gotten a hundred of the things will drop a plan. Or just get someone to make you one. Also, you should be able to jump right over with marsupial.
You too can obtain a big backpack using these 347 simple steps! I’m just kidding, it’s a very clear and well made guide but I see why people might be tempted to pay for storage space
Really great guide 👍 I recently went thru these challenge's again on a alt and the only difference was I got lucky and found the camera early on and did the Mammalogist photo taking one instead of the Athlete/obstacle course. Joining public teams is a awesome tip to get around the map!!
@SequentialGamerFallout you can place a terminal in your camp, and u can search for it. I forgot the option, but it will place the yellow circle for you where the person holding the camera is. Sorry for not remembering the option, but that's a easy sure way of finding the camera earlier.
With perks and stuff it's really not a safe bet speaking on someone else's experience, i mean do you find that ghouls take 15 headshots with a fkn shotgun before droppin.. cuz at level 115 that's what its become for someone like myself that hasn't focused much beyond carry reduction. and it's kinda shit.
They're very common, scorched typically drop them. But you can check Sam Blackwell's bunker, there should be one there. Re the syringer, there's only one type of syringer. It sounds like you've either run into a bug or something else killed them.
I completed 3 tadpole and 8 possum challenges and actually had fun. You explore a lot of stuff in the game while doing so. It felt like I was getting 100% achievements in some openworld exploration game after completed story. But I can see that a lot of people will see it as a slog
Yeah, they're not bad in themselves. It's more of a question of having the backpack and the high capacity mod behind them. I wish there were more with the scout theme in the new update, just not gatekeeping essential items.
already finding the "repair crossbow" is quite obnoxious since I cant craft one without it spawning 200% durability and wont let you repair without it being under 100%. Yeah this takes forever.....
I know I'm generally pretty unlucky, but I call bullshit on the 25% chance to get a badge from those two Dailies. My rate was probably closer to 10%. I ended up doing a combination of Possum challenges and picking up badges from the Dailies, and maybe one or two from Campfire Tales (always seems to pop up when I'm in the middle of something else) to get the High Capacity mod. Now I'm slowly working my way through all of the Possum and Tadpole badges just for my own sick completionist satisfaction.
im bloodie commando and kinda like to carry lot things in my back, 120 isnt enough..lol, i only have trick to get possum badge who really pain in ass for their badge, do daily boy scout everywhere dan do event mirelurk switor...in one week i got the mod for backpack
I'm stuck on 5 possum badges, I can't seem to get more. I've done about 10 days worth of those quests and the event and haven't gotten 1 Possum Badge since.
I was in the same boat and gave up. Server hopped until I found someone selling them at their camp. I got the high capacity mod and refrigerated mod both for 8000 caps each. The high capacity is all I use, it’s awesome.
I really enjoyed getting the backpack! I'm almosy lvl 100 finally and it'd already a MASSIVE boon, now I just need to get the carry weight mod from the scout vending machine to make it +120 carry weight instead of the base 60 😅🙏💛
I followed another guide originally but they didn't continue at the end like you do!!!! Thank you for showing how to get badges and the other mods from the factions!!!! 💛💛💛💛💛
25% to get a possum badge.... dose that activate after you finish the tadpole quest ? I've never looted a badge from the event, but I just did the quest 2 days ago ?
And yes, before you become a possum only Operation Tidy (the nuclear clean up quest) gives you badges .. but only tadpole badges. After you become a possum you'll start to get possum badges from the dailies and events I talked about.

@@MrStoqn4o It might still be faster to drop that 35k on the plan. Stupid Question: I do events all the time with lots of players, but I have tried daily ops about a dozen times, there is never anyone that joins. why not? ps: even with a pretty great plasma caster and good perks, being quite effective at killing, making the highest level in these daily ops seems pretty much impossible by yourself? So far, I have barely managed the 2nd highest level a couple of times..
I'm guessing a lot of people have all the rewards from Daily Ops so they might not bother. It is possible to do them solo if you get the mission to hunt down enemies and get a good map, but you'd have to go in guns blazing.

But after JUST getting back since Nuka World it's insane the amount of things i need to catch up on lol. Game went from boring been there, and done that to overwhelmingly awesome. Just pissed off they changed the seasons and ditched the scoreboard. Whoever came up with that should be terminated immediately just... wtf!? But yeah the rest is solid so far. Even like the caravan, as grindy as it is atm.
"F*ck Scout Badges"
2 minutes later
"You need 3 scout badges or this doesn't work"
How are you supposed to f*ck scout badges if you haven't got any?? LOL
@@SequentialGamerFallout touche.
Ahhh, time to go back and actually complete this on... well, any of my characters, lol. Even the one still around since beta. Thank you for helping make this not so painfully slow! (The photos one was what got me... some weren't counting and I never went back after the 2nd try lol)
Also, props to KATAPAN for repping the positive FO76 community.
I did not know that those dailies and events had a chance to drop badges good to know
You forgot mutations.
20:16 I use the quenched mod or whatever it’s called. It slowly reduces your thirst
This was broken down properly. Thank you
I always rush getting the standard backpack and mod it with chemist so I can free up space in strength for more heavy weapons perks.
If you get the backpack plus the right 3 star legendary mods on your armor pieces, you can be walking out with tooons of food and aid items and still have plenty of carry weight left for rando stuff
Yup, I usually have a capacity of 590+. But I'm still overencumbered after every event LOL.
@@SequentialGamerFallout weird how it piles on every time
i have done these quests 13 times now, in my experience if you have a single friend in the game or just find a nice high level player who understands what you're trying to get just doing stings and things, operation tidy, swimmer, athlete and archer are in my experience the fastest, my best time to date on getting the big backpack is like 150 minutes.
I'm level 178 and I still use the standard backpack.
I'm level 232 and still use the standard as well.😂😂😂
@JediZomB Those badge missions are just so unappealing to play.
@boswelldoddler5235 oh I'm not doing it, I've gone this far with what I have.
I use std backpack with grocers mod. Carry weight isn't everything
Wow...
10:06 you can also just go knock the skeleton off the target before the test to make it easier if you need to.
Hmm, never tried that, those are usually not moveable so I never bothered to try. Nice tip if it works.
This is perfect timing cause I just started yesterday but stopped cause it’s so long
Its only +10 on mod
@@troublemakerbros4267it’s +10 per back pack level. So if you have a lvl 60 back pack then it’s +60 carry weight. IMO so worth it but grinding for badges sucks ass. Just server hop and find someone selling the mods at their camp. You’ll get them much sooner that way then trying earn them yourself lol
Ran the quest a few days ago and now I'm trying to get the double capacity mod. I hadn't thought about Campfire Tales being part of that!
Good luck, may RNGsus be with ye!
Correct me if I’m wrong but I play solo and I’m 99% positive I did the player revives on myself using the mysterious savior card. Hope this helps.
That sounds like a nice little tip. I've never used the mysterious saviour but that could work.
That sounds bizzare. I wodder if they silently changed the chances?
Just a tip from someone who made the crossbow mistake😅, don't use an improved repair kit to fix😅😅 takes forever, i did out of habit..
I did this exact thing and it took so long to get it in need of repair I went and found a new crossbow 🤣🤣
there's also a radroach usually on the 2nd floor of the building by dolly sods
I'm a pioneer scout but for some reason i don't get the daily quest you were talking about they never pop up
You do have to speak to the robots to start them and you may have to manually click on them in the quest list to have them show up in the UI.
This worked for me and made the slog of crossbow kills much easier.
i went to a lot of places with radroaches since they are a 1 shot deal
For me the easiest I think is archer - athlete - mammalogist. I did codebreaker instead of archer before but it requires to have access to nukes which is annoying for mule characters.
Depending on have much chems u carry or collect to sell u end up getting more with chemist and the regular +60
Yeah, if you can't afford the perk points then that's the break even point. If you carry more than 60 food or chems then the gold mods start to be better than high capacity.
@@SequentialGamerFallout it's not about being able to afford the perk points, its so you open a spot for other perk cards.
@@capelech9032 Basically, use the chem bp mod so you can drop chem weight redux perk in strength and use those 3 perk points on damage mod for heavy weapon or shotgun, something like that. Yeah, there are some ways to shift things around that a lot of players aren't aware of.
@@Kevlin0069 ya then there's even armor that can effect all that haha
@@capelech9032 yep, i have a civ eng vest with reduction of food water and either junk or chems
I cant even figure out what im supposed to do to accomplish the pioneer tasks. Its not like it shows up maps or anything.
Yeah, you do have to think about them a bit more. They're not super-difficult, but you do have to plan and look up things to find where you can find things what the challenges require.
That's why I recommend doing the events and daily quests to get pioneer badges.
seeing this two days after doing the tadpole challenges and getting my big backpack.
Hey, the important thing is to get the your backpack and you've got that.
Ever upwards baby!
Only change I made was to do codebreaking instead of hunter, but that is because I started it at like level 50, so I had lockpicking and hacking maxed.
Yeah, that's pretty easy if you have the perks.
Little trick you can infinitely do the athletic challenge early on to get lots of purified water caps grenades and xp.
Never realized you got badges from those two events. Thanks for the info. Great content.
Cheers, glad that helped you!
Just FYI, I'm noting that people are saying that they're not getting as many as they might expect so it could be that the devs silently reduced the drop rate. It still happens though.
Saw the challenges; groaned. Went to YT, found this to bypass it and get the badges, we are so back.
Nice! Good luck with the backpack!
I got lucky and found someone selling the high capacity mod at their camp
After stalking multiple low levels i finally got it!
Congrats!
Yeah, marsupial or a jetpack should be good enough. I didn't have it when I was getting the backpack but I think that works.
@@SequentialGamerFallout went and pulled off my jetpack torso, no problem.
You too can obtain a big backpack using these 347 simple steps!
I’m just kidding, it’s a very clear and well made guide but I see why people might be tempted to pay for storage space
3:18 mark: should be 'counts toward (or for) the objective', not 'counts against the objective'.
for clarity
thanks for the vid!
thanks a lot.. I was getting crazy with those challengers
I've definitely got a possum badge from Tea Time before. It also has a 25% chance to give one as a reward.
Hmm, that's not supposed to be a scout activity so it shouldn't but if it does then so much the better!
@@SequentialGamerFallout I had three when I started the event. When it was finished I had four.
Really great guide 👍 I recently went thru these challenge's again on a alt and the only difference was I got lucky and found the camera early on and did the Mammalogist photo taking one instead of the Athlete/obstacle course. Joining public teams is a awesome tip to get around the map!!
Yeah, the photo challenges aren't difficult if it wasn't for the need to get a camera.
@SequentialGamerFallout you can place a terminal in your camp, and u can search for it. I forgot the option, but it will place the yellow circle for you where the person holding the camera is. Sorry for not remembering the option, but that's a easy sure way of finding the camera earlier.
Its alot easier than many think just time consuming, the main ones that will hold you up are ones that require an item to be crafted.
@@CyPhaSaRin I don't use vats with shotguns so yea it probably does, could be perks to buff damage outside of vats just imo
for the hunter badge you didn’t cover on where to get a hunting rifle and now i’m lost…
does the fixer count?
i doubt but won’t hurt to ask
also i got the syringer from the bridge and its not a pipe syringer i used one of these to kill the yao and it didnt count
They're very common, scorched typically drop them. But you can check Sam Blackwell's bunker, there should be one there.
Re the syringer, there's only one type of syringer. It sounds like you've either run into a bug or something else killed them.
@@SequentialGamerFallout yeah bug idk why when i spawned at the place the yao would just die after a few seconds! got it all down thanks !
I just got the scout badges I’ve had nothing but time over the years
If you have the Excavator Power Armor, you should be fine modding your backpack for chems or food instead of using up perk points.
@@SequentialGamerFallout I agree with that. 120 carry capacity is too good to be hidden behind such challenges
I love my Acheivos!!
already finding the "repair crossbow" is quite obnoxious since I cant craft one without it spawning 200% durability and wont let you repair without it being under 100%. Yeah this takes forever.....
The best solution to that is to buy one, pretty cheap, or pick up the one from the world. They usually come as less than 100% condition.

I'm stuck on 5 possum badges, I can't seem to get more. I've done about 10 days worth of those quests and the event and haven't gotten 1 Possum Badge since.
The badges from dailies and events are random, you'll get them eventually.

@@MrStoqn4o It might still be faster to drop that 35k on the plan. RNG is RNG, after all, and you can count on the 1400 daily cap limit on vendors as well as always being able to find things laying on the ground that you can sell. 35k is pretty steep for this, but I'm guessing the seller is counting on someone out there being very desperate to stop being encumbered all the time, while also thinking about how much of a PITA it was for them to get the 8 badges just to sell the plan.
@Kevlin0069 nah i have a lot of rare plans to sell so caps are never an issue but now that I know they drop from the daily quests and event there is no way I'm paying that much 😂 I already have 2 badges so 6 more .

I do the daily challenges since 3 weeks now, and only have 5 possum badges.
The game is so unfair....
Based on other comments like yours, I'm getting the feeling that they may have adjusted the drop rate without announcing it.
I wish this game had cross progression. I've played on Xbox since beta but my Xbox crapped out last year and I decided to buy a pc now I have to do everything all over again. I hated doing the scout challenges the first time and not looking forward to doing them again.
I have the uniform and no hat.. do you have to wear the hat to get the challenges to start?
Not as far as I recall. If there's any part that requires you to wear it, it'll say so.

Everyone seems to be under the impression you can magically do this without scout badges.
You can't.
Whether you do it as fast as possible, shown here or just by doing whichever one's you want the sentiment is always going to be the same: eff scout badges.
True, technically you can't do it without badges, but when you're going for the backpack and the mods it's best to minimize how many you need. Later on you can finish the rest at your leisure, which is actually much more fun without the pressure IMHO.
@@SequentialGamerFallout That's a good point. Optimum route. It's like the Caravan, you want to unlock the cattle upgrades first. That way the rest of the runs are less painful. If you're thinking "I just want this f'ing backpack so i can move on!" for days on end, it's going to drag.
State of mind is a VERY powerful thing. Also don't sweat the clickbaiting, people should learn by now to not hate the player, but the game. Hitting the algo is a pita!
