One thing to note about claiming a workshop is that claiming will turn Pacifist mode off and other players can take you out to take over your workshop. If you're going to just claim and run off with the plans, remember to turn Pacifist Mode back on in your options menu. Fast travel to team members is free but there are other locations on the map you can free travel to. Your camp, the Rusty Pick, the Raider, Brotherhood of Steel and Settler main bases, the Whitespring, the Rose Room and Vault 76 can be fast travelled to without spending caps. You can use these free travel locations to cut down on the cap cost to travel to quest locations.
If you are new and want a huge boost to learning weapon and armor mod plans along with chems and all kinds of other loot, ask a high level player for their treasure maps or if they will dig them up with you. Most players dont use them but they are actually pretty useful at lower levels. Note: be prepared for a long overencumbered walk to a railway or camp to unload, sell, and scrap everything.
Great “how to get started “ video. Been playing since launch and these are some great tips. Just grind til you get to level 50. That’s when the game really starts.
It’s great to see FO76 thriving after all these years. I occasionally jump back into the game, but more recently I’ve been playing and seeing fresh newbies in the servers! I just want to say welcome and I hope you enjoy the game! I am on Xbox and I’d be happy to help the newbies with anything they need (I have a lot of stimpacks and ammo I hardly ever use).
I agree with doing a fresh dweller as well. Mostly because as you said you need to learn the game. But also, you'll more than likely will also gain more gear, resources, and plans. Because even at level 2 you'll be scrapping stuff and learning mods. On a side note. Old players like me always put stuff in that donation box. Above all other donation boxes. Especially if I hit my daily caps limit with shops. I'll dump all kinds of stuff in that box. As for where most players will end up selling, I would bet they go to the saw mill these days and you can sell stuff there. And I would personally tell new players to never buy from the medicine and ammo vending machines. That stuff is overpriced crap. More than likely new players with shops will sell stuff for cheaper. As for death you do technically have a negative when dying. You lose all your buffs and have to put those back on.
If you're not going to get fallout 1st I highly recommend bulking critical junk materials to save space in the stash box. Then bulk and sell unwanted junk to robot vendors to make some extra caps.
Bulking doesn't reduce weight except on lead and aluminum. The small reduction is only due to the plastic being used on bulking. Bulking is so you can sell junk in vendor.
Just wanna say this is a great tip video. I’ve tried three separate times to get into this game over the years and never had success. Finally felt like giving it another go after the fallout show came out and your video has really made this game fun. Thank you for all the tips!
@@Rusty2255-i6c Pick a SPECIAL it adds a point to it and allows you to select a perk card, if you already have 1* perk and select it again it makes it a 2* perk. Think of it as upgrading your perk.
I returned after a long break and made the mistake of starting lv 20. Lol it started off alright, but then I got steam rolled by the same death claw 3 times in a row while trying to help the crashed astronaut kill her robot.
You should start at lvl 20 IMO since you actually get 25 lvls of perks with an additional 5 not equipped (vs just 19 for the lvl 2 start). Even if its not min-maxxed you are just getting an insane value for your buck, along with the plans for the weapons you start with.

A general video for new players that i wish we had when i started ! Simple but very helpful . Great video Wiggle ! Any new players watching / reading this , Fallout is a game that's meant to fall off of the beaten path . The most fun i have is by just playing and exploring on my way to objectives . This is where Bethesda games really shine . The amount of content / side missions you can stumble upon will make this 150ish hour game into 500 ( it feels like ) . Hope we get some more Fallout fans 😁
This was an amazing beginners video! Thank you so much. Started installing the game before work and hopping in afterwards. This has been really helpful! One important tip I did read is you want to put all your junk in your stash box because if another player does kill you that is the only thing they can steal off your body.
Thanks for sharing, bud. Been playing for about 20 hours now and I'm having a blast. I picked the first aid card at the start because I didn't know sprinting used up AP. Had a funny first interaction with a level 1057. I was in a basement at night looking for stuff to scrap and hear this heavy stomping sound coming from upstairs so I hide in a room. He walks down the stairs and opens the door while wearing power armor and a laser minigun so I do the panic emote. He laughed and gave me a shielded vault suit and 100 stimpacks. So I gave him a nuka cherry cola. We gave each other a thumbs up and he went on his way. I'm having so much fun with this game and I thought joining groups meant you needed to be around them at all times. Pretty cool you can just do your own thing and teleport to them for free. I was avoiding that cause I thought we had to do quests together or some shit. Just joining a group for the benefits is nice.
as an early player join ALL events. Even level 50 and death from above. You’re not going to be able to do much damage but you’ll get so much xp for this.
@@barefacedyeti3895 it’s an event in game to kill the scorch beast queen. It’ll say completed when the bomb drops and you just fast travel to the event.
thank you for making this video! I'm a longtime fan of fallout, but I have slept on 76 and never bought it. The show combined with this video hitting my algorithm has convinced me to buy and install it.
As a new player, I highly encourage pacifist mode (in the settings). Although there are lots of friendly players in Fallout 76, you do NOT want to get into a firefight with those who are down for PvP at a low level. You will get guaranteed 1-2 shotted since experienced players often have a build set up while you're learning/chose a mid tier preset at level 20.
I am at level 30 now, and been donating value stuff at the box. Got gift from a high level player as a newbie, that made me feel very helpful and surprised. 😊😊
I would also suggest that you save your in game atoms from atom challenges if you do not plan on getting fallout 1st , you can earn enough in game atoms to purchase the season pass in very little time . Just save your atoms from the season after getting the season pass for the next season pass also.
wow, i got game on sale and i watched and read a few tip guides, most of which didn't really tell me much that i didn't know or what i was looking for. this video basically taught me so much and answered some of my questions. I also had no idea you could fast travel in this game, i've tried clicking icons on map and haven't seen the option like in the single player games and man, running is insanely long... i've spent most of my time running and running and running. but if i can fast travel to player camps and such, that would be huge. I also had no idea about player venders and wasted some caps using the other ones lol
I just started and this guide is great, especially learning about the fast travel option. I joined a random group last night and a level 800 gifted me a whole bunch of stuff. It was awesome.
The part where he was looting is to the right and down the hill slightly as you come out of the Vault. It's a car park and has a couple of enemies around it and several wrecked vehicles.
Well rested taking about 30 secs still drives me crazy. Sometimes its 45-50. Sometimes it woll not proc, and you have to get up and lie down again. Been playing since beginning, but some of the little bugs are the most annoying.
Great video perfect for myself and my gf to watch just as we get our bearing! We had the pleasure of meeting two seperate high levels and their teammates who gave us plenty of clothes, mats, and even built us little starter bases. I’m sure it’s just as exciting for the og players to see the influx of new players due to the show!
Thank you! been playing a month and learned heaps from this video. didn't realize the ammo is dependant on the weapon I'm holding. I do a lot of Melee and get random ammo. Didn't realize I could "scrap all junk" even though it's written there I guess I didn't read lol. been scrapping things by sifting through. I didn't play the guitar in the vault! but I did sleeeeeeep. I do a lot of cooking! learned the hard way that my collected plants, 'spoil" over time so now I cook any time I find a cooking area. Most random players that arent jerks and griefers can be very generous to new players. There were several that gifted me plenty of purified water and ammo
I’m a big time fallout 4 player and have really struggled with 76 and kind of gave up on it. This video changed my mind 100% I was doing a lot of shit wrong that is new to me. I will say with the exception of one guy who was like I’ve level 100 who killed me and stole my base everyone else I met was so nice and just started giving me all kinds of valuable stuff.
Hey thank you very much. I’m gonna start over as I’ve had a rough time trying to get thru this game . I’m at level 28 but I’m running around in my underwear with some various weak amour. There are still some basic questions that I don’t understand and other help videos just blow thru at lighting speed bc they themselves have probably put in a 1000 hours. I need to go thru and understand about camp and where is more storage box and does it show up other places. I’m always overencumbered even though I put my strength at 11 I can never fast travel even when I try to scrap all weapons except for the ones I feel I want to hang on to. I’ve seen that this is a very deep game and I think it’ll have great potential if I can walk thru and learn everything step by step. Thank you
I still remeber me and my friend left the vault and a guy named sschwiggidy wiggidy followed us for 4 hours waited till we came across a workshop and killed us for no reason
Yea noticed that too as I set my series x back up and installed it and got fallout 1st. Rolled a cowboy character and did level 20 as it was a new gamertag and I’m going for all achievements on this account
one tip i have is get every special to at least 3 before you make your build. i do this because most perk cards peak at level 3. this means that even if my build doesn't use a certain attribute, i can still slot in a maxed perk card for whatever i may need at the time it also ensures that you're well off on those fronts. having 1 str means you get weighed down a lot, and 1 int means you level up like a turtle
Just played the game for the first time last night and had a lot of fun. It seems like the community is mostly helpful and keep to themselves unless you party with them
Contextual ammo is actually a little more complex than simply matching the weapon you’re currently holding. When you attack an enemy, the contextual ammo will typically match the weapon that did the most damage. Take 1 shot at an enemy with a 10mm but then kill the enemy with a shotgun, then switch back to the 10mm before looting the corpse and you’ll more than likely get shotgun ammo, not 10mm ammo. However, there is also a chance that the enemy will drop other ammo types at the same time, including 10mm ammo. When you loot a box (ammo box, wooden box, tool box, etc), the ammo drops from that box are for whichever weapon you had equipped when you proximity discovered that box. For example, if you proximity discover a box while holding the 10mm pistol but you switch to a shotgun before you open the box, the box will more than likely still drop 10mm ammo, not shotgun ammo. That means that contextual ammo isn’t based 100% on the weapon you’re holding but instead it’s based on whichever weapon you were holding when you came within the discovery proximity of that box.
This video was a great refresher. I bought 76 at launch, and as we all know, it was... not great. I ended up dropping it. But it sounds like it actually may be playable now. Plus, with the show, i assume more ppl will be looking into picking it up.
If I had to pick one tip I really wish I had been given earlier, it's that you DO NOT sell guns early on, unless you're sure you won't use that type of gun (not that specific gun, but that type of gun, i.e. all laser pistols/rifles, or all hunting rifles, etc.) Instead of selling them, dismantle them. This is how you learn new weapon mods. Also, DO NOT remove a weapon mod unless you're totally done using it. You can only craft mods onto guns, you cannot remove them and put them on a different weapon. It's incredibly fucking stupid but removing a weapon mod completely deletes it. It's probably the same for armor, but I haven't had a reason to test that. Also, a related weapons tip- if you're not using a weapon because you haven't seen much ammo for it, just know that you're not seeing ammo because you're not using that weapon. Enemies drop ammo for the gun you're using as well as ammo for the gun they're using. Not always, but generally speaking you'll always find ammo for whatever you're actively using.
people say grind until 50 but i say take your time and utilize your perk cards, some will save your butt at low lvls. Also... Don't be afraid of dying, you don't lose much that you can't get back fast (except stable Flux)
I've built a PC to play Fallout London but due to the delay I've decided to give 76 a go on PC, I was Seriously OP in 76 on Xbox and stopped playing a couple of years ago, time to start my new adventure once its downloaded.
After watching the series I really got interested into the FO- Universe. Started with Fallout 4 at first, played through it (actually 1,5 times) because I‘ve got back to an old save to fuck the institute 😅 (First ending was me being the institutes Director and bloody destroy the BoS and Railroad). Today I‘ll join 76 the first time in a few hours ☺️
Fallout is something I’ve never touched. I feel like I’ve played every other big series but it. I’ve always liked the world of the game so after enjoying the show, I decided to play a fallout game so I got 4 and I’m totally hooked on it. I think I might try the rest after but I do want to check out 76 after years playing red dead online I kinda get the concept. These tips will really be helpful
I've played thousands of hours 3, NV & 4 but never played 76 until yesterday. It was on sale for $7.99 & I figured why not it's time. Sadly I didn't sleep lol I did pick level 20 lol but I didn't buy from the vending machines lol
I’m lvl 76 and basically can’t figure out how to get better stuff. It seems there are “material walls” on everything that would be useful for me. It’s kinda overwhelming really but I am slowly learning via YT.
Haven't played in a long time think I'm level 710 unarmed with my cherished bloodied max level powerfist with swing speed and +1 strength with some insanely rare unyeilding armor too and maxed out everything stats and legendary stats. I remember tanking the scorchbeast queen and was basically unkillable. Should probably play again and see how things are.
Usually you can't go wrong with shotguns or rifles in the beginning with no outside help. And modded pipe weapons can do you well for a long while too. Weight saving perks (Thru hiker, pack rat, travel pharmacy, sturdy frame, etc) you might want to prioritize. Action boy/girl, blocker, inspirational, scrapper, good with salt, green thumb: those are good all around choices for any build. One point wonders like concentrated fire and born survivor are great early, and don't necessarily need to be maxed to get good use out of. Adrenaline rush at 49 and Gun Fu at 50 are also good 1 point perks. Ultimately play what you like and try not to pigeon hole yourself too much as far as weapon perks in the beginning. You'll come across a lot of fun weapons to try and swap out.
One of my favourite things to do with my mmo brain is assemble suits of t-45 to give to new players. I don’t craft to save on mats so I just game the locations for hours at a time. Feels good to give a new player a suit of armour though
@@hankplays7606 Well once you reach level 25 you can do a quest to unlock the ability to craft excavator armour, and if you finish Rose’s (the raider robot) story line it awards you with a suit of raider power armour, those are both good early game options if you don’t have time to farm the the sets t-45 out in the wasteland. And the once you reach level 30 you can try and get yourself a set of t-51b, then level 40 you can try and collect a set of t-60, both of these you’ll just have to try and find out in the wasteland. Once you reach level 50 you can do the first brother hood of steel storylines at Fort Defiance to get a set of Ultracite armor, or you can do the new brother hood storyline to unlock a set of hellcat armour. Both really good end game armours. But I would till you hit level 50 before you do either of the brotherhood story lines so that the rewards it gives you are for max level. But also remember you can mix and match sets. You don’t need to have a the same set for the whole frame.
Tip for experienced players, leave some enemies for the lil guys to kill I events 😂😂 I joined a mirelutk kill event lvl 20, a couple high lvls showed up and nuked everything 😂 level 609 highest, crazy
Newest content i finished before coming back was inocuøating the raiders and becoming an initiate in the brotherhood. On Playstation 5, looking for people to actually explore with and such, seeing whitespring redid was crazy, i kind of miss the quiet classy look.
Nah. Being a former player coming back and selecting the Battle Ready I enjoyed it. Its nice to not have to grind to get a decent weapon from the start.
So this may be a dumb question, but how many weapons does everyone usually run around with? I was thinking of bringing a main weapon, a melee weapon for close target enemies. Should I bring another weapon in case I run out of ammo?
I tend to specialize my characters. For ranged characters, I carry 2-3 ranged weapons. For a melee character, I tend to carry 4-5 melee weapons and shotgun for crippling.
Jeez thank god i only started playing today, I can still reset and start fresh. I genuinely thought the perks you get for starting in 20 are good but now that I'm told they're not good I'm gonna start over and find which perks are good, wasted my time though smh
Don't kill the queen fast, tag enemies for the full length of the fight for massive xp. Don't start rad rum or encrypted right away, let people show up. If you didn't buy the encrypted fight keycard, just leave it alone, don't start it, someone paid for that. If a high level player gives a thumbs down, odds are you are doing something wrong.
A good tip for players who've surpassed level 50 SAVE THOSE LEGENDARIES and more importantly research what price you should sell em for I remember getting my first set of unyielding armor for super cheap because some poor bastard didn't know it could be valuable

I only notice the well rested buff going away,
If you're not going to get fallout 1st I highly recommend bulking critical junk materials to save space in the stash box. Then bulk and sell unwanted junk to robot vendors to make some extra caps.
I remember doing that before Fallout 1st was a thing.
Bulking doesn't reduce weight except on lead and aluminum. The small reduction is only due to the plastic being used on bulking. Bulking is so you can sell junk in vendor.
How do you bulk them?
@@lastflightofosiris Requires plastic and you use the tinkers workbench
Just wanna say this is a great tip video. I’ve tried three separate times to get into this game over the years and never had success. Finally felt like giving it another go after the fallout show came out and your video has really made this game fun. Thank you for all the tips!
Just started last night. Wish I watched this before I started. Great tips, thanks.
Yes! Start out of The Vault at L2 - learn how to manage your level ups (it's a VERY important thing to learn!) [>2000hr player here]
Level 15 now and I still don’t understand the new card system and all that
@@Rusty2255-i6c Pick a SPECIAL it adds a point to it and allows you to select a perk card, if you already have 1* perk and select it again it makes it a 2* perk.
Glad you said something my friend convinced me to do lvl 20 start with that logic I wasn't about to it ain't as bad as he makes it out!
@@boevahkinYou literally don't miss out on any content and can easily change your load out in a few levels if you don't like it, there's not a single downside to picking a premade load out being against them is just try hard shit
Don't you also get perk card packs at early levels? It evens out.
Damn I did level 1 for the "full experience"... Ive had to Google more fixes and methods than I did with NV and fallout 4 combined 💀
@@nickphaux nope, you get the same amount of the perks from the perk packs as level 20 start
What is death from above? I've had it popup out of nowhere saying quest complete and I haven't even done anything lol
@@barefacedyeti3895 it’s an event in game to kill the scorch beast queen. It’ll say completed when the bomb drops and you just fast travel to the event.
If you join a team, you can still explore by yourself.
thank you for making this video! I'm a longtime fan of fallout, but I have slept on 76 and never bought it. The show combined with this video hitting my algorithm has convinced me to buy and install it.
Same here bro , been playing it the last 2 days , waiting for it to grip me like new Vegas did
Just starting Fallout 76 but already learned more from that video than from game itself. Highly recommend for new players to watch :)
It’s been so nice seeing all the new players and helping them out. Reminds me of when waste landers first came out.
wow, i got game on sale and i watched and read a few tip guides, most of which didn't really tell me much that i didn't know or what i was looking for. this video basically taught me so much and answered some of my questions.
I've been playing this game since launch and that first tip blew my mind I never thought about sleeping before leaving the vault🤯🤯
Very excited to play this game in 2024 for the 1st time! Glad I waited.
Shaydeelady in Fallout 76
I'm glad it helped.
Jesus! I watched the whole thing and it was so good. This is a must watch.
No one told me how good this game is now! I’m having a blast. At work I’m just thinking about fallout now
This is one of the better videos trying to explain this game. Unless you have your own community of friends this game explains very little.
I’m so excited to see all the new players
Saw so many new players this morning! Made sure to put a few goodies in the donations box.
Yea noticed that too as I set my series x back up and installed it and got fallout 1st. Rolled a cowboy character and did level 20 as it was a new gamertag and I’m going for all achievements on this account
Haven't played the game in about 5 years but have heard good things
one tip i have is get every special to at least 3 before you make your build. i do this because most perk cards peak at level 3.
this means that even if my build doesn't use a certain attribute, i can still slot in a maxed perk card for whatever i may need at the time
it also ensures that you're well off on those fronts. having 1 str means you get weighed down a lot, and 1 int means you level up like a turtle
Just played the game for the first time last night and had a lot of fun. It seems like the community is mostly helpful and keep to themselves unless you party with them
Great video, this was really helpful! Got this game for a while now, but never really played it. Started playing yesterday.
I miss playing this with people. The community can be pretty helpful
Many thanks for the tips, I started playing last week and 6 years since its release this game looks good.
I still remember that one team I was in. I was pretty new, got lost against very strong enemies and 2 teammates show up to help me
Contextual ammo is actually a little more complex than simply matching the weapon you’re currently holding.
That means that contextual ammo isn’t based 100% on the weapon you’re holding but instead it’s based on whichever weapon you were holding when you came within the discovery proximity of that box.
lvl 70s here new to fallout and this was actually usefull i forgot some stuff here
This video was a great refresher. I bought 76 at launch, and as we all know, it was... not great. I ended up dropping it. But it sounds like it actually may be playable now. Plus, with the show, i assume more ppl will be looking into picking it up.
i agree about the starting loadout. i think battle ready loadout was made primarily for people making multiple characters
Starting out at level 20 was better for me. Strength is huge, maxed that first, then luck. So many options. You decide.
The show gave me that Fallout Fever
do you do radio? lol , seriously very well done video, probably one of the best articulated videos ive seen in a long time! subbed!
Great video. Just started today, and it’s a bit overwhelming. Thank you.
this is why i love having the auto axe or chainsaw all the ammo that drops is a good amount of all types specially in expeditions and daily ops
Agility+Luck+Perception can create a pretty unstoppable character. At least mine feels like it 😂
Fallout is something I’ve never touched.
I started playing yesterday. This video is helping so much already. Thx you so much!
I'm glad it's helping. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the tips, i bought the game on sale, and it was kinda confusing in the beginning, it's like Skyrim with zombies! XD
I am legend but with the dragonborn? I'd watch lol
Great video dude! I'm honestly pleasantly surprised at how much the game has improved since I bought it at launch, to my horror!
New character made after watching the series look forward to getting back out there. 🙌🏽
Ayy recently hit 150 didnt know you got plans from workshops! Gonna have to do some hopping.
The show is bringing me to fallout 76 because I want some of that jerky
Started playing today :) very nice 😊 could you go into beginner level up builds? For a first story playthrough?
Add me if you ever need help with anything or if you want anything I’ll get it for you :)
I just started and the level 20 shotgun class is excellent
i just started to day, thanks for this! what a great timing! ILY
Always wonder why the pipboy is kinda rusty and beat up when its never been used
One of my favourite things to do with my mmo brain is assemble suits of t-45 to give to new players. I don’t craft to save on mats so I just game the locations for hours at a time. Feels good to give a new player a suit of armour though
New player here! Really hope I run into you in game cause I currently have an arm and a leg for my power armor lmao
Best FAllout 76 tips would be how to get passed the login loading screen without crashing.
I just started two days ago, and all I want to do is join the cult of Mothman and gaze into the holy Lamp. All I care about is Lamp.
Newest content i finished before coming back was inocuøating the raiders and becoming an initiate in the brotherhood. On Playstation 5, looking for people to actually explore with and such, seeing whitespring redid was crazy, i kind of miss the quiet classy look.
First work shop I ran into was the racetrack by the carnival.
Nah. Being a former player coming back and selecting the Battle Ready I enjoyed it. Its nice to not have to grind to get a decent weapon from the start.
Very nice! I forget what it is, but from your first workshop you get something important... Is it the water purifier plan?
I don't remember either. I think a few things unlock.
ty dude! I just started playing and so far im having a great time!
Thanks for this video! The show has peaked my interest in this game
Great video! Wish I’d had something like this when I first started.
Jeez thank god i only started playing today, I can still reset and start fresh. I genuinely thought the perks you get for starting in 20 are good but now that I'm told they're not good I'm gonna start over and find which perks are good, wasted my time though smh
Just started this yesterday. Great video
Thank you.
