I wouldn't worry too much about that check engine light. I saw you opened the bonnet earlier and you definitely checked that the engine was still there.
@@stavrosteve Well it was the early to mid 90's, airbags were coming in and people didnt know how to hide or style them well, and they had to be functional and meet the standard so alot of manufactuers borrowed other car parts, so I would wadger your statement could actually be true for all I know, as the research to go into a steering wheel, a new airbagged steering wheel I read somewhere once is 22 million as you have to put it in a car, crash test it do it again and you have to have the clockwork switches the sensors and all of that and it has to consistantly work many times over its why no matter how many times they change the body, the wheels stay the same.

May not be anything really bad with the Bentley, when I was detailing cars there were a few that when cleaning out the engine bay, the check Engine light would come on with a misfire code. It had something to do with one of the electronics getting wet (distributor or coil packs usually), and when it dried out would go away.
Years ago I worked for an auto recycler (junkyard). The ILL state police had three auto carriers full of seized Lincolns, Lamborghini's and Rolls Royces, and many other expensive cars. Also, add in one truck of guns. It was an awesome day crushing and shredding them to tin can size chunks to every one of them.
Ha! The Bentley being high maintenance showing a check engine after a bunch of work like it should. Hilarious. I love that Hoovie does all the crazy car things that most of us would like to do, but were warned not to. Everyone loves a too-good-to-be-true deal, and here we get to see if those cautionary tales were accurate. Priceless entertainment and learning.

That is worth thousands of dollars from other suppliers who are doing the same thing to Jaguar wood panels.
I had a moan like that in one of my vehicles that turned out to be in the Air injection system non return valves. That was quickly and easily fixed by some strategic ball bearing placement.

The original problem could have been solved with a 3/16 drill bit, a pitot tube, a TIG welder, and someone who understands fluid flow characteristics. All total, you probably cou ld have gotten a resolution for less than 2500.00. For future reference #Hooviesgarage, it's typically called "exhaust drool". It is a pretty common thing with custom exhaust made by people who don't understand the characteristics of exhaust dynamics .

What you can do with the cracking clear coat on the wood: give it a sand with 180 or 220 gr sandpaper to remove the scratches and cracks. You don't want to go right down to the wood underneath because that would mean re-staining and then go to Lowe's and buy Krylon gloss clear. Put it on after wiping with a tack cloth. After 2 coats, sand again with 320 or 400, add a coat. Sand again and do a final. Comes out like a baby's bottom.
Check the code. When I get a check engine light on my mercedes it is always the gas cap. Just take it off and put it back on. Three clicks. The code will be a vapor recovery system. Beautiful Bentley. 😍

@@MrCumstein I mean, the guy said, "some scratches in the chrome, so we tried to get those out." They would have to replate it to make it perfect.

I had a 300zx that made a gurgling noise behind the front passenger wheel at idle, it was also from the air injection system.
My favorite car of all time. Nothing looks better than a Diablo.
