Critical reviews in this community are so refreshing because I know they aren’t bought and paid for. I disagree on the Initio opinion but having a moment of reckoning with my bottle of Jazz Club, which I will still always hold a place for as my gateway into more experimental and niche perfumery. It is quite linear now that you mention it!
@Bobby Bobby I wouldn't assume just to add a comment with your opinion. 4 of the 12 fragrances were gifted to me! So there you go. Not all 12 were purchased by me buddy! ;)
I wasn't as excited in jazz club ether for the longest but idk what's happened to my juice since I've gotten it (early 2021) maybe because I decant and sold some of the juice and air got into it to mascurate it better. But wearing it lately it's been working beautifully off my skin this winter. One of my most complimented scents this winter and fall.
I commend your choice in content to present. Your titles catch my eye as you always manage to offer an interesting and fresh angle on well-worn paths. Thanks for the info you share & also the honesty of your thoughts.
Sebastian! Jazz Club? I knew from prior videos you weren’t a huge fan of it, but with all the fragrances in your knowledge book, Jazz Club makes the list? Next you’re going to tell us the Easter Bunny doesn’t exist! Seriously, Jazz Club is my favorite of those with prominent tobacco notes. I wasn’t madly in love with it immediately, but after a week of trying Red Tobacco, I suddenly loved Jazz Club. I bought a bottle of Zara Warm, Rich, Addictive after your video on the fragrance, but couldn’t warm up it it. If we all liked the same fragrance, life would be boring, and we wouldn’t have the great selection. Waiting on samples of Tobacco by Franck Bocket and Cigar Rum. Love the channel!
Orpheon is quite good ! Not as beautiful as Fleur de Peau, but much more exciting ! I quite like to wear it to go out, it’s has something festive to it.
Enjoyed the video! I love YSL L'Homme and much prefer it over La Nuit. It's never had great performance but it's a light, versile young gentleman type scent. It's very safe and pragmatic but I enjoy it. I also think Jazz Club is great. For those who don't have 100's of fragrances, I think Jazz Club is a good approachable option for a single tobacco fragrance. Unpopular opinion but the most boring fragrance that comes to mind is Mancera's Cedrat Boise. Very interesting hearing your educated opinions. Thanks!
It is far superior in every level to every " blue fragrance" on the market. In terms of Performance, quality of ingredients and so on...it is justified the asked pricing, even on retail stores.
Ysl L'Homme may be boring now but it gets the job done and is still a complement getter. At the time of release it was fantastic and really laid the foundation for the blue wave.
3:01 I am new to TF and was surprised at how many Cherry options they had as I was sampling them at Nordstroms. I actually wondered if TF let their tongue in cheek names drive the brief because “Cherry” provides a lot of suggestive and crass opportunities. This was right on the heels of your interview with Thierry Wasser where he talked about each scent needing to play a role in the family and how we have to embrace funerals along with the new additions. That insight into how a classy perfume house “goals” itself really resonated with me as I tried making sense of the piles of options with ridiculous and unhelpful Tom Ford names/options in front of me.
Wow Jazz Club? It’s a delicious very sexy scent! I can actually smell the tobacco and I can smell the liquor as well. Nice powdery sweet tobacco scent. Also one of my most complimented this past fall/winter
Great list! I will say, as a female who RARELY reaches for designer, male targeted fragrances, I absolutely love L’Homme EDT by YSL. It smells fantastic on a woman. I wear it quite often, actually. It comes across as fresh and uplifting. Perfect for right out of the shower or before bed. Thanks for posting!
I LOVE Orphéon! So much juniper to me. It’s the bar I measure other fragrances against! I love the complex of notes in it even though it is pretty linear.
I couldn't agree with u more in regards to jazz club. It seems to be a favorite for a lot, but it's flat, linear and not a single note piques my interest. Everything u mentioned applies to me, but alternatively my wife actually really enjoys it
Completely agree with Jazz Club! It smells like a generic designer to me. I’m bored of Santal 33 as well, but mainly because everyone wore it 9-10 years ago - it’s still distinct. Strongly disagree about Orpheon… it’s surprisingly complex and progresses after first spray, and is heavenly at every turn!
Side Effect is very good. It’s the only fragrance I purchased from a group of 16 samples I recently tried. I just wore it a few nights ago. I think it’s great for the winter.
Great video Sebastian-- you didn't mention anything that made me angry lol... Agree with most-- you'd think fragrance companies would have more sense than to sell out to Estee Lauder after Jo Malone... Once Lauder gets ahold of you it is OVER... you could throw Chanel Allure Homme Sport in this lineup for sure...
Moonlight in Heaven is one of the most beautiful scents I've ever smelled, but it's definitely a scent far more for women. The milk/rice/mango notes are amazing together & it's a phenomenal snuggling scent.
Santal 33 is my favourite LeLabo and one of my favourite scents. Definitely in my top 3. It reminds me of my primary school classroom full of the smell of pencil shavings. I don't get the pickle juice at all.
Wow! I think our tastes are really similar, at least in what we find boring. That has always been my biggest gripe about Percival. My grandma got me YSL L'Homme for Christmas, even though La Nuit de L'Homme was the one I listed. She didn't care that I swapped it for the La Nuit 😅, said it smelled great.
Agree with ysl lomme, only wore it as a younger man never wanted to ever add it to my.collection again , i get similar with layton pdm but its a bit better
Great video ! I only have 2 fragrances from this list Jazz Club and Percival I will admit not my favorites in my collection but I like them . Would I repurchase them again ...no
hearing Side Effect on this list is crazy what should be on this list as well as an over hype list is Tuxedo by YSL I have never smelled something so over hype before
You are way too cute to be talking about hate! 🥰🤗 So I am new to the frag game and I bought a sample of Aaron Terence Hughes 'Forbidden", which is a cherry scent. Now I really hate cherry of any kind, but this one is so soft and subtle without the slightest hint of the artifice that I usually get that I actually don't mind it. Which means cherry lovers will really love it! ♥🍒 (and are you trying to piss off TF?? 🤣)
Haven't smelled Jazz Club but I can't help but notice you've used a quarter of the bottle even though it bores you? Don't you have like 4000 fragrances. Why wear that one so much? Or did you buy it from a group with some juice missing?
Love it! It's great to see videos that aren't just positive sometimes too, thanks for making this! There's a few I like on here but others I find super boring too. (Electric Cherry is such a dud!)
I'm very interested in what you said about Golden Moka; I also didn't particularly love the fragrance, but I did feel as if I could understand the creative vision behind it. I'm a coffee enthusiast and professionally trained as a barista and I feel that Xerjoff did attempt something interesting with the coffee line, for example Golden Dallah features the note of rose, which is very correct as coffee prepared in Saudi Arabia using a Dallah pot is often infused with rose water. With Golden Moka, I suspect they were trying to reference the Port of Mokha in Yemen, which was the first trading node of coffee in the world. The coffee they imported was from Ethiopia, which is today known for its extreme fruity characteristics, hence why they probably went so hard on the citruses, adding in the incense to lean into a more oriental style. I think they were trying to encompass the fact that merely saying "coffee smells like coffee" is reductive - here's an example of how coffee can smell so different from what we're used to. But unfortunately the fragrance itself isn't that exciting!
Locally, I don't think I've come across too many that are super boring. But I'm also doing a lot of testing and research on different ones to try. Since I'm pretty new to my journey.
100% agree about Jazz Club and Side Effect. I've sampled each 3+ times over the years, because I assume I'm missing something due to the long-standing hype. But, they underwhelm me in comparison to Tobacco Oud, Creation E, Tobacolor, Triumph of Bacchus and Baraonda. I find them to be fine, but forgettable
Damn you really HATE that electric cherry huh? 😂😂 You mentioned Side Effect and I just got it last week! I LOVE that one…I’ve been on an Initio kick so I also got Absolute aphrodisiac, addictive vibrations and atomic rose lol
I haven't smelled the current YSL L'Homme formulation but I have Alexandria's inspired version, L[Homme Classique, that is based off the original formulation and it's wonderful.
Huge fan of Dyptique, though I do find there are a few I don't like. I have a sample of Orpheon and I don't think it's "boring", but it's not my thing at all. Tempo is my no1.
Loved the video..personally I thought you were a bit harsh with Initio Side Effect but great video in general..There's nothing like a fragance video trashing underwhelming. Very refreshing in a world where so many "reviewers" are bought.
Totally agree on PDM Percival, very generic smelling. I'd have to say Guerlain L'homme ideal sport, Original penguin, and Sean John Unforgivable..wish i could trade them. Great content as usual.
I love Jazz Club because it's really safe. It's not bold, it's not sexy, it's just comforting and inviting, so I like to wear it day to day or even around the house.
Thank you! I actually think the topic of problems/ shortcomings with certain fragrances needs plenty of discussion. It’s very irksome to find linear fragrances with no complexity, no development and high price tags especially in the niche category where the sky is the limit when it comes to creativity.
For me it's more of a fragrance brand than a specific perfume that i find boring. That powdery quality to Chanel fragrances really bothers my nose. It can even come off pungent with some of their fragrances, as in Coco Mademoiselle Intense. I just can't get on board with the brand.
I just got my nose on Electric Cherry and it smells so synthetically sweet. It's quite disappointing considering how much they want to sell it for. Totally not worth it. I like the smell of Jazz Club but I don't think it's worth the price and I've never had the opportunity to sample it. On skin it may be great. I feel as though Side Effect is way overhyped, too. I got samples, tried it a couple of times and it's just boring. The others I've never smelled or sampled. I do love Percival, though. It's a great blue fragrance and beast mode from my skin. Two sprays and I'm filling up the room with the scent. It just works on my skin.
I love Orpheon so much. For me its the one for the days when I don’t know what to wear and what i want😂 like a second skin that i forget about. Totally love it! But i can agree that its quite boring👌
Whaaaaaaat? We usually have quite similar taste in fragrances, Orphéon is one of my most worn and my most complimented fragrances. People always sniff me when I wear it.
@The Perfume Guy I know, it just surprised me because I agree on all of the other fragrances 😄 Jazz Club is so mushy and bland, don't even get me started on Santal 33 🫣 and so on. But I must admit that I would add BR540 to the list... VERY UNPOPULAR OPINION 🤪
I like diptyque although their fragrances don't always last on me. Their nearest release is good but to me it's similar to Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc which I already have...
Lolol this video is funny. I haven’t got my nose on either , but I have been told that moonlight in heaven people suspect was reformulated. And supposedly the older formulation was theeeee most incredible scent. And the newer one is very meh. I haven’t smelled either but jsut adding that suspicion in 😂
Completely agree with Kilian Moonlight in Heaven! From some TH-camrs’ descriptions I was hoping for a luscious tropical vibe but it was just so light and bland and didn’t smell of anything in particular. Surprised about Side Effect, it’s definitely an in-your-face attention grabbing perfume for me which has got a few compliments at parties. Maybe it works better on women! Could see it being a bit boring on a man.

nothing wrong with linera sometimes. always good to have a mix of experimental, unique and bore
Finally a real review, not like half of the other reviewers that are getting paid! Respect!
I can take that Jazz Club. Send it my way 😊
Jazz club is one of my fave fragrances. Scent is really subjective. Clearly
Thanks for respectfully yet unapologetically stating your opinions. I think this is really important. I also almost fully agree!
WTF Jazz Club is one of my favourite fragrances. This got me into fragrances.
I wasn't as excited in jazz club ether for the longest but idk what's happened to my juice since I've gotten it (early 2021) maybe because I decant and sold some of the juice and air got into it to mascurate it better. I like L’Homme by YSL. I have the 2009 batch of the fragrance and it smells prominently of ginger with spices.
Side Effect is the sexiest fragrance in the world.
The funniest video topic you’ve ever done. You really don’t expect to scroll and see this title 😂 love it!

L'Homme is a safe fragrance and that jumbo-sized bottle looks really good!
I love Jazz Club, in fact I bought it before By the Fire Place.
Enjoyed the video!
I love YSL L'Homme and much prefer it over La Nuit. It's never had great performance but it's a light, versile young gentleman type scent. It's very safe and pragmatic but I enjoy it.

Very interesting hearing your educated opinions. Thanks!
Black Gold is A gem ….raw and uncut stuff…. (In my opinion) thanks great content as always
I agree regarding Percival , its a straight out designer scent . Its seems criminal to be sold at a niche price .
It is far superior in every level to every " blue fragrance" on the market. In terms of Performance, quality of ingredients and so on...it is justified the asked pricing, even on retail stores.
that's exactly how I feel about most PDM fragrances! way overhyped designer style stuff at niche prices
Ysl L'Homme may be boring now but it gets the job done and is still a complement getter. At the time of release it was fantastic and really laid the foundation for the blue wave.

How do you come up with these ideas Sebastian? Love it!
I love Jazz Club, Side Effect, Moonlight in Heaven and Santal 33 🥲😂 Scent really is subjective.
Moonlight in Heaven👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Jazz Club is ridiculously linear so I layer with Gri Charnel
@@sandrasmith1035 Yummy!!

Took me awhile to warm up to Jazz Club but can't deny the many compliments I garner from this scent.

I LOVE Orphéon! So much juniper to me. It’s the bar I measure other fragrances against! I love the complex of notes in it even though it is pretty linear.
Initio side effect is an amazing rum boozy vanilla fragrance one of the best ngl

😂😂😂 I nearly died laughing when you said Damn he should have kept it to himself. Talking about Uncut Gem 😂😂😂
I find Jazz Club to be cozy, but now that you mention it it is linear. I always enjoy your content!

I feel so validated by your jazz club opinion
YSL L’Homme is awesome. Percival is my most complimented fragrance at the office.
L‘homme is the safest and probably one of the most pleasant smelling frags i ever smelled.
Percival is also great…
Finally one I know! Jazz Club is not good to me. Luckily I just bought the travel size.
I like Jazz Club because they used it in the soaps, shampoos and lotions at the Four Seasons in NYC. Reminds me of the Four Seasons Hotel

For me it's more of a fragrance brand than a specific perfume that i find boring. That powdery quality to Chanel fragrances really bothers my nose. It can even come off pungent with some of their fragrances, as in Coco Mademoiselle Intense. I just can't get on board with the brand.
Recommand some smiliars of Kilian - Sacred Wood...some small prices.... thanks
