    Opium, Poison, Terre d’Hermes, Mitsouko, Halston, Obsession, Fracas, CKOne, Molecular 01, Jovan White Musk, Axe, these all were hugely popular and caused a ripple effect in perfumery.

      I love that ripple effect! yes!

      Axe Africa all the way baby.
      Back at summer camp in 1995 I sprayed that sweet elixir running up and down the corridor whiles a girl screamed "stop spraying that shit, it gives me a fucking headache" whiles I laughed maniacally.
      Ah, the sweet memories of youth.

    The original Opium by Yves St. Laurent. Youth Dew by Estée Lauder. White Linen by Estée Lauder was so popular in the mid-80’s, that you couldn’t keep it in stock. Charlie by Revlon. One of my personal faves, Magie Noire by Lancome.

    To me an iconic classic fragrance that nobody ever talks about is Nina Ricci L'Air Du Temps. I used to wear it a lot and recently picked up another bottle. I love to wear this one on the spring.

    Angel, Eau D'hadrien, Double Vanille haven't tried, maybe Angel but I can't remember it, all the others are fantastic love them all! Iconic to me: Eau Sauvage, Acqua di Gio, L'eau D'Issey OG, Polo Green, Dior Homme, Fahrenheit, Habit Rouge, Terre D'Hermes, there are so many. Great list, can't wait for part two, thank you Sebastian!!!

    Great video thankyou! My "iconic" perfume is Samsara - it reminds me of my Mum getting dressed up, she wore Chanel No 5 too but it's Samsara that gives me that nostaligiac feeling.
    Love this series!

    I was obsessed with the original Bijan Men when it came out. There was nothing on the market like it at the time. A definite 80's power fragrance and my first "luxury" fragrance purchase.

    Sebastian, I have been a fan of yours and enjoy most of your videos even when I don’t know the perfumes. But mostly, even if I don’t know the brand, I like your video. Loved the list and the video, even if Baccarat Rouge, which I own, is not among my favorite, although it is a cult favorite. So, in that way , it is iconic. I have owned it for years, but it is not and never has been among my favorite perfumes. I do agree about Shalimar, which I put up there with Chanel No. 5, although among my favorite Guerlain’s are Vol de Nuit and Apres L’ondee. Sebastian, I truly loved this video! Thank you!

  • @a.d.723
    @a.d.723 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love Angel and Baccarat. I would also add Viktor&Rolf Flower Bomb. It’s like Angel and Baccarat in the sense that as soon as it came out, it was EVERYWHERE. You could smell it in every department store and on every person anywhere you went. Around the holidays, each store had like 52 different versions of gift sets for that fragrance alone. It still smells great and I still smell it on people. It was also featured in a song! Lol

  • @sibyl333
    @sibyl333 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I kinda love Angel. I love my more popular EDT but I also love my EDP and I have been meaning to give it a full day's wear.. I put it on my ankle one day and wow did I love it throughout that day..
    Chanel #5 was my only perfume for so many years- 25 years. The aldehydes fade after a 1/2 hour and the drydown is an abstract rosey gorgeous fragrance that I love.

  • @tsbehr
    @tsbehr ปีที่แล้ว +2

    After watching this vid, one that came to mind is Zino Davidoff. While perhaps not a mega super seller, the imprint that Michel Almairac developed seems to keep on going. Maybe it inspired Guerlain’s Heritage…? It definitely worked its magic on Tom Ford’s Beau De Jour. And the fact it’s been in production since 1986 helps with that iconic status. Still smells fantastic too! Looking forward to part II of this series.

    I was born in 86 and i wish they did not get rid of the old version of angel its such a shame can you pleas do a review on the elixir ? 😊

  • @blackchameleon4977
    @blackchameleon4977 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I absolutely love Angel. It will never get old to me. I pre-ordered the elixir and am impatiently waiting, lol. I know it's going to be nothing like the og, but I think it will be a powerhouse vanilla fragrance. As far as Chanel no 5 , I prefer the L'eau version. It still has the aldehydes but a more modern fresher version. Br540 extrait is a love for life. ❤️

I have all three of the Interlude fragrances ( Black Iris & Interlude 53), I would love to get my nose on GUERLAIN SPIRITUEUSE DOUBLE VANILLE & I hope MAITRE PARFUMEUR ET GANTIER AMBRE PRECIEUX might be in the next Scent Club Kit 😁🙏. Absolutely love No5 ! Will always have it in my collection, Angel along with original Poison were signatures for me, I worked for Dior for 6 years back in the 1980s /1990s and was obsessed with Poison ! And the original Miss Dior the most beautiful Chypre ever in my opinion….mitsouko, l’heure Bleue from Guerlain , femme by Roches also have a place in my heart, ….Charlie by Revlon, white musk from the body shop, brings me back to my teens, and how I spent my meagre pocket/babysitting money, along with Records love my music too……Polo Green for men …! ! I worked in store for the launch of Obsession by CK ….man it was an immediate love love for me absolutely stunning back then, unfortunately I purchased it recently and it is a shadow of its former self …opium by YSL
    Giorgio Beverly Hills still Available but just not popular anymore ..it was HUGE when is launched ! What about Anais Anais that was everywhere at one stage …Lou Lou was the first perfume my husband bought for me I was 19 years old and it started my love of Tuberose,, sorry for rambling but I could truly talk about Perfumes ad nauseam…thank you for this lovely trip down memory lane …PS I purchased POAL a few years ago because of one of your reviews absolutely adore it too ❤

    Hi Sebastian - Angel (EDP) back on the day was my signature scent. I received compliments when I would wear the EDT as well as the EDP version. Currently, thanks to you, my signature fragrance is Portrait of A Lady ❤ Also, I have worn MFK Baccarat 540 in the extrait version - love it. Can you suggest a “beast” mode summer signature unisex fragrance?

    Portrait of a Lady is on its way to being truly iconic, but it hasn’t been around long enough. Many of the perfumes that Sebastian mentioned are true classics and have already withstood the passage of time.

    I've always felt the same way about Angel edp. Still a head turner for me. And a smile bringer. 😁⭐ Also remember the first time I smelled Interlude Man. Luckily, I was prepared so it was an instant hit. 😎 Otherwise I think I might've went running in the other direction. 😄 Straight up, we need to make oregano a new thing.

    I like this kind of video. I've tried some of these, and I hope to try the ones I haven't tried yet. "Drakkar Noir" was the first fragrance I owned, and I truly like it. I bought my first bottle of it in about 1996. I discovered it from certain older brothers of some school peers.

    Some suggestions for the list:
    For oldies, Pino Silvestro (at least for this side of the globe), J'adore and Trésor may come to mind.
    For newer ones Black Afgano, Bleu de Chanel (not a fan of it), Creed Aventus...

    Superb list, Sebastian! I’ve worn a few of these back in the day, and own a few of them now. For Part 2 (and maybe Part 3) I’d definitely include Shalimar (my mother’s signature scent), and Polo Green. Maybe also Gris Dior and Herod. While I agree that Chanel No. 5 is iconic, I don’t wear it, but much prefer Coromandel from the Les Exclusives collection. So many great fragrances, it’s difficult to narrow down to a short iconic list, that’s for sure!

  • @Sumire_Shea
    @Sumire_Shea ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for this list! I've tried most but there are some I still need to check out~ Recently grown to love Chanel fragrances and learned that No5 was what my grandmother wore so I definitely want a bottle of that in my collection. For part 2, I think Delina by Parfums de Marley deserves a shout out because it's everywhere and there are so many dupes now!

  • @sinditia
    @sinditia ปีที่แล้ว

    i defo agree with guerlain shalimar. i see some people already commented with ck one, i agree with that too. idk if you'd consider this one, but body shop white musk is quite an iconic perfume in my teen years. felt like everyone had it and its such a recognizable scent

    Tom ford v angel... tricky
    For part two I would be thinking of Xerjoff (Laylati)
    Bal D'afrique
    And whilst it's not popular in the USA people still fall over themselves in the UK for Jo Malone
    I used to adore Cucumber and Earl Grey I've gone through bottles of that
    I also agree Shalimar 🌟

    Great video! I'd offer Alien by Mugler and Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle as alternates or additions. They sell like crazy, and are never going to stop selling, I'd bet.
    Also Santal 33 has been duped so many times, it should be included as well!

      Hmm I wore it in 1996/1997 or maybe 97 only i liked it then. It's just watered down too much right now but i can see it being an iconic fragrance for sure.

  • @boogiedaddy3434
    @boogiedaddy3434 ปีที่แล้ว

    Icons! So exciting! Loved me some Drakkar back in the early 90s but haven't smelled it in ages. By the mid-90s I had turned into a CK One fanatic. Believe it or not, I don't think I've ever tried Chanel No. 5...I'm sure I may have smelled it on someone in passing and didn't know what it was, but I'm completely unfamiliar with it. It's so iconic that I'm almost embarrassed that I don't know it.

    Curious what part 2 will include. They may not make a "best of" list, but in my lifetime (born 1970), a most iconic list must include the after shaves... Brut, Old Spice, Aqua Velva, English Leather. Every man had those in their medicine cabinet in the 70s. You should do an episode on those LOL.
    Then for me Polo, Halston Z-14, Pour Monsieur, Eau Sauvage.

    For me, I don't hate Baccarat, I just don't like it, simply because I smell it everyone and people use way too much of it.
    Issey Miyake's L'eau D'issey (both woman and man version) definitely needs a spot in your next video of iconic fragrances.
    Maybe Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb, tho, I think it's a copy of Angel.

    Old school.
    Ropion's Potrait is exceptional.
    I prefer Caron for older scents.

    To leave out Aqua di Gio and Chanel Bleu is almost offensive. I'm hurt

    Yeah...The first time I smelled Angel might have been the early 2000's - I found it interesting, unique and in that way I liked it...I've never hated it but it's still not a LOVE for me either...My mother though, adores it and it has been a signature scent for her for years...and I think that's cool! My grandmother is the Chanel No. 5...LOL! Seriously, I just got her a new bottle for Christmas! I'm Portrait of a Lady...So, there you go. There is a reason these fragrances are iconic and beloved by millions - And as far as the haters go...Eh, fragrance is subjective - for example - I don't really care for Baccarat Rouge...**Gasp**

    For me, 4711 or the nearly identical Roger et Gallet Jean Marie Farina are global classics and truly unisex.

    Great list... Any list of "most iconic/popular that doesn't rely on Creed's Aventus is a worthy list indeed. Not sure how long that will last though. LOL
