as someone who was in high school and saw the first teasers for this show on some weird sci-fi movie show, I am applauding the brilliance of recreating some of the original trailer including the way the word Alien gets formed bit by bit. SO EVOCATIVE.
I loved how they used some of the original sounds from Alien like the metallic sound of the hatch opening and closing when Dallas was hunting the alien and the proximity ping from that scene and Aliens.
The creativity is very good in this one, from using the powerfull lamp to show what's up in her ribcage to the facehugger's anatomical details / action and special mention for 0 gravity acid blood floating in corridors forming deadly webs, someone passing through this would be wrapped into acidic blood and possibly cut into pieces if you can't control your movements in absence of gravity

Oh man, I'd LOVE to see them do a FIX IT! for Resurrection. I'm fond of that movie because I'm a huge Leland Orser fan and just a sucker for the franchise in general, and I appreciate was it was trying to do, but whew was it not perfect.
First, I LOVE Aliens. It's one of my all-time favorite movies. Alien 1-3 is a great Alien trilogy for me. After that, with the exception of AVP which I enjoy, I have not like a single other Alien movie. They were so disappointing. Like Jay said, cool idea for the philosophical side, but I did not care. This trailer made me SO HAPPY! I can't wait to see it. And also like, Jay, when I first saw the trailer, I literally said, "I could have gone all of my life without ever seeing the face hugger put it's thing down someone's throat." 🤣I didn't need that visual at all. 😬
Clearly Jays xenomorph would be the one from Spaceballs with a little hat and cane doing a little singing and dancing number. Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal.
I just watched it today and I can't remember the last film I saw that made me jump on my seat or hide in my sweater. so yeah don't want to spoil much but this movie is probably takes the name of ' best sci-fi horror ' and is one of my favorites that up there with Alien's 2. I rate this movie a 9/10.💛
I can’t even remember the last Alien movie I watched? I think I might have watched part 2 on vhs in, like, 1998? Wild. Just not a franchise that ever did anything for me, at all. The fact this movie is coming out in August is not a good sign, typically that’s one of the months that studios drop movies they aren’t confident about
Traditionally, yes. However we also need to remember that 20th Century is owned by Disney now and they are alot more strategic with their release schedule in order not to cannibalize their other releases by Disney, Marvel, and Pixar. They might see August as an opportunity to mop up competition without cutting into profits on their other projects.
The movie supposedly only had a 30-40 million $ budget. So even a decent run at the box office bodes well for it making money. And considering Fede Alvarez has said if it does well, he wants to continue this "offshoot" of the franchise and maybe tie it into Aliens at some point (other than the obvious things in common lol)
The good old days?! This franchise is fubar. Like the Evil Dead reboot, or all other horror movie franchises for that matter. I just hope that at the end of Alien Romulus, the diverse group of kids and the xenomorphs learn to accept each others and eventually, through the power of tolerance and friendship, end racism in the universe. I mean wtf is that? Big hallways to look like Alien Isolation, blue laser (in a hallway?!) to look like the first Alien, a cast that would better fit in a mediocre slasher, etc. Yes, there will be a lot of gore, Alvarez isn't stingy about it, but with nothing else of any significance, nothing to add to the lore, nothing to set it appart from any actual blockbuster bs.
