Hasn't releasing horror films in the summer been a thing for a while now? 28 Days Later, Day Of The Dead, Land of the Dead, Insidious: Chapter 3, Hereditary, Midsommar, Nope, Candyman (2017), Alien, Aliens, Predator, Prey, Prometheus...Heck, the horror film that arguably started the blockbuster summer movie craze was Jaws and released June 20, 1975.
Clearly this trailer understands your "People love Ripley" point to some extent - that final shot recreating a Sigourney Weaver scene from 3 (At least I think it was 3)
Much more hyped by the series, as it's helmed by the creator of Legion, one of the most underrated pieces of television. I wish you stuck with Interview with the Vampire or Doctor Who on the channel though, but I can imagine that's a lot of work for series that dont really make up for it in terms of views.
alien is big enough that it doesn’t need to rely on spooky season to sell well. it’s a summer blockbuster franchise and always has been since the beginning.
I was a big Alien fan back in the day. Sigorney Weaver was impressive. I think the problem has been the producers of more recent movies haven't been able to duplicate her performances. The alien blood is like acid. Btw. It's interesting they have made the face huggers so aggressive. Those things scuttling along the floor like a spider and jumping on peoples' faces.smile. I can see it would scare a lot of people.
Great. Now I'm craving an Alien/Star Trek crossover! Lots of other great Alien crossovers are starting to come to mind now, too. Thanks, Nerdy Nightly!
I had mixed feelings about Alien Romulus, but one thing I really liked was how it was an Alien film, but it didn't require you to do any homework beforehand to understand it or appreciate it. There weren't any wink-wink/nudge-nudge callbacks that only older generation audiences would get, and yet older audiences could still enjoy it. What kinda bugged me was how YOUNG or young-looking the whole cast was. The characters and story beats made it feel more like a Friday the 13th remake, but with an Alien instead of Jason.
I also don't understand why studios release horror films outside of spooky movie season from a business perspective, but I'm not complaining, because I'll definitely watch this when it comes out.
the respect for the 4 Alien movies is there, i saw a piece of each one in this trailer. just for that good job and take my money. (i don't count prometheus and covenant, for my reasons...) but i agree : august is not the best month for such a movie
Hi Nerdy and Clarus I Really enjoyed your reaction to aliens trailer too, So excited to see this movie soon it's actually a day before my birthday mines on the 17th and this movie coming on the 16th
Predators hunted Xenomorphs as early as 2,000 BC on Earth, so the Yautja-Xenomorph connection had existed long before Weyland-Yutani. Thus, every film in either franchise was in a universe where both species were connected. Who cares? I know :) I’m just helping Nerdy make the argument that Romulus is a Predator movie LOL
This looks really good hopefully it doesn’t disappoint the original 2 films where fantastic, alien 3 was 🗑, resurrection was bad but it was dumb enough to be really enjoyable, Prometheus and alien covenant really weird though the visuals where amazing
.....seems like he's never actually gone to the movies lol, horror movies in the summer has been a thing since the 70s with the first Jaws, hell, even a large chunk of the alien and predator franchises have been summer releases. It beats releasing another horror movie in Oct/Feb when those two months are already going to be crowded with horror movies. This way it stands out more, plus who says you can only enjoy horror movies in Oct/Feb anyways??
She's right "Prey" is in the "Alien" universe , so is "Blade Runner". All the synthetics in the "Alien" films are the same A.I. in "Blade Runner". It's basically what's happening on Earth while Ripley and Daniels, etc are fighting aliens in space that the gov keeps from the public. The. people of earth, like real life, are told Aliens aren real. If you watch "Blade Runner" you'll see their ships brand name is Weyland Yutani. Same brand that Ripley works for.
I liked Prometheus better than Covenant. 😁 Man.. people are so 50 / 50 % with Prometheus and Covenant 😄 (cuz I heard / read some opinions recently on John Campea's YT channel too. Some ppl likes Prometheus better and others Covenant.
One of the most absurd comments I have ever seen in my life. A horror movie made for a certain audience, where it is known that there will be jump scares and a lot of blood, it does not matter what date you put it on because the audience for whom it is directed does not pay attention to whether it is winter or summer. The only thing they want is to see the movie. Do not confuse movies for children or family with horror movies, please...
Actually I hate to say it most of these movies this summer will probably Bomb. The only 3 that will do well is "Inside Out 2, Dispicable Me 4" and "Deadpool And Wolverine". I have a feeling this is going to be rough summer in the box office.
Fede Alvarez didn’t direct Evil Dead Rise. He only directed the first installment of the reboot: Evil Dead.
These guys has no idea what they talking about. Fede has done only masterpieces.

Who ever did the cinematography/ color grading deserve a raise, because every frame of this movie looks like a painting
Fede Alvarez did the 2013 Evil Dead, he didn’t actually direct or write Evil Dead Rise.

I'll be seeing this in theaters multiple times.
I second that. But the first time HAS to be in IMAX. 😏😏

The original Alien movie was released June 1979 and that seemed to do pretty well…. 🤷🏾♀️ maybe digital release by Halloween
Also, how sick would it be to introduce ‘the King’

Perfect combo: guy gives opinions, girl gives visits
Fede direct the evil dead from 2013 😂
You gotta bribe her man! Get her there so you and have your horror and comedy at the same time lol
Fede directed the 2013 Evil Dead remake. Evil Dead Rise is it's own thing.
Great. Now I'm craving an Alien/Star Trek crossover! Lots of other great Alien crossovers are starting to come to mind now, too. Thanks, Nerdy Nightly!
Fun fact there is a xenomorph in The Thing(2011).
Only Guardians of the Galaxy 1 opened in August (August 1, 2014). The other two Guardians movies opened in May (05/05/17 & 05/05/23)

Looks like we will finally get another fantastic alien film. Haven’t had one since 1986
This is probably the first movie I'm going to watch in theater since the D&D movie.
Never get tired of David Harbour and Anya Taylor Joy's react✨

I see horror movies in the summer because im single for life we can't all have a Claroos 😢
I'm looking forward to this
Hope Clarus doesn't turn into Bill Maher, where everyone younger than her is a "kid". LoL 😁
She hasn't seen Aliens? That needs to be corrected, and she will love it.
It looks like the actors are not even old enough to drink.

This poor movie is also coming 4 weeks after Deadpool and Wolverine. Should absolutely be an October release.

Why would this movie bomb at the box office just sounds like to me that you’re hating cuz u gave no explanation 💀
This movie looks like a teenager slasher flick. I'm out on these Alien movies. I think Borderlands looks like a better movie one week before it!
Sorry but this is a horrible take. Borderlands looks like a jone
Your right Borderlands is probably going to Bomb too. But I'm more interested in that movie over Alien Romulus.
Wow, that is some insane taste in movies you got there friendo. Just wow, no wonder the actually good movies are bombing at the theaters.
