I think the real horror is realizing that considering that all of the events of the Alien franchise are part of the same canon timeline, Weyland-Yutani (or at least some of its employees) was aware that the creatures described by Ripley that they strongly rebuked during her inquest indeed existed.
It is hinted that some of them were aware But after the Nostromo went missing they scrapped everything to cover their asses That's why the Yutanicexecs at the meeting with Ripley not only had no idea but had never explored the alien ship that they didn't know was there It was Burke using Ripley's coordinates that sent the colonists to "check it out"
Hey. That is not the Nostromo. That ship blew up. Remember Ripley blew it up and Ash as well the Android. The android Ash was dismembered. They also burned him with a blow torch. In the beginning of this movie you will see a piece of the Nostromo floating in space. This android is Science officer Rook. He is the same design as Ash. But it isn't Ash.
Prometheus is important to every Alien franchise because the origins of how the Xenomorphs was made. The vials called Prometheus Fire is from Prometheus and also it's dna of the Xenomorphs. That pathogen makes abominations of all living things. Must see Prometheus of how it started the chaos of the Alien franchise and why the Androids are acting up too. It is Weyland and his own android who was like a son to him, David started all of this for bringing the chaos.
It made $350 million dollars against an $80 million dollar budget. Cailee Spaney turns into a badass character who is willing to do everything she can to help her friends survive the terrifying onslaught of the Xenomorph. They brought back Ian Holm with a mix of CGI and an animatronic puppet from Stan Winston's Legacy Effects. They were given permission to use his likeness from his estate for the movie. The Xenomorph at the beginning of the movie is the same one Ripley shot out of the airlock 20 years earlier.
Romulus is easily my top favorite of the franchise along with Alien and Aliens. I saw it twice in the theater and twice at home ( I saw Aliens 4 times in theater in 1986). The film is better each time as there is so many exceptional details in this work of art. I thought that the characters and their acting was fantastic. Cailee Spaney's range as Rain is magnificent as was David Johnsson's Andy. Rain was not only a badass she was smart every step of the way. The writing was so well done as there was character development creating people who we cared about and understood. I did not want any of them to die. The film truly deserves to be a commercial and critical hit. I personally think it should have made more domestically. However $350 million against an $80 million budget is a huge success. I went thru and calculated all of the films budgets and first theatrical profits as per adjusted inflation. Alien and Aliens were massive blockbuster hits. Romulus blew Covenant, 3, and Resurrection out of the water in less than a month. Bringing back "Ash" as "Rook" was brilliant. When I first saw him in the theater is took me back initially for a few seconds then I was on board. After seeing the film several times the addition of Ian Holm's character fits perfectly into the story. The use of practical effects and matching the technology of that time made the film far more believable in the series.
Cailee Spaney is an overnight Star. She has a very bright future as an actor. I guarantee you her agents phone hasn’t stopped ringing since the films release.
trivia time! - When Tyler, Bjorn, and Andy tour the reactivated Renaissance station, Wagner's "The Entry of the Gods into Valhalla" from "Das Rheingold" is heard over the introductory audio explaining the station being named after Romulus and Remus. This ties back to Alien: Covenant (2017), when Peter Weyland first activates David and asks him to play Wagner, choosing "The Entry of the Gods into Valhalla." - In the background of several shots, the emergency telephones that function as save stations from Alien: Isolation (2014) can be seen. Much like the game, they're typically a sign that something terrible is about to happen. Tyler also brings along a set of signal flares similar to the ones Amanda can find in Isolation, and even uses them to distract some facehuggers due to the heat of the flare like how Amanda can use them to distract the xenomorphs aboard Sevastopol. - In an interview on TH-cam, Fede Alvarez described his idea on the significance of the biomechanical aspect of the Xenomorph coming from it's adaptability as it evolves during its gestation phase, absorbing parts and energy of the environment around where it cocoons itself in order to be able to excel within those surroundings, and in a used, dark industrial future, it would naturally lean towards a mechanical appearance to thrive within it. (also why it shows to have electricity runing thru it's skull bc bjorn tried to kill it before it was fully born, show casing you can indeed give it additional traits) - One notable design element in the film is the pulse rifle, which merges features from the original Alien (1979) flamethrower and the Aliens (1986) pulse rifle. This hybrid design reflects the film's intent to blend elements from both movies, creating something familiar yet new to reflect that this film takes place between those two movies. The auto-aim feature is not a completely new addition to Alien lore: in the Special edition of Aliens, Pvt. Hudson already mentioned an "independently targeting particle beam", and the Smart Guns carried by Vasquez and Drake use infrared-assisted targeting systems that can automatically detect enemies. It can be assumed that Rain's auto-aim pulse rifle is an early precursor to those weapons. - Aileen Wu, Fede Alvarez and film promos confirm that Navarro is Bjorn's adopted sister. According to the cast preview I'm Radio Times, "She was taken in by Bjorn's family on Jackson's Star and now thinks of Bjorn as a brother." This means the film features a trio of sibling pairs, which ties into the underlying myth of Romulus and Remus, and the two halves of the Renaissance station (named for the myth). Álvarez has said sibling relationships are a key theme in the film. - The Offspring was portrayed by the former Romanian college basketball player Robert Bobroczkyi. Speaking with Collider, Fede Álvarez explained that he didn't want to create a CG creature and had to find the right person for the role. After learning about Bobroczkyi, the director sent an email to the 7'7 basketball player asking him if he would like to be in an Alien movie, which Robert was very excited about. The Offspring was mostly done using make-up, with the exception of the creature's tail which was CG. - The chestburster scene was done practically. - the movie poster literally spoils who the first victim is lmao
You guys had so many innuendos locked and loaded for this one lol ...but thats kindve the point of Gigers work isnt it? Beyond the bio mechanical fusion is the uncomfy macabre erotica. Such great creature design even 45+ years later.
So this film really managed to add to lore The Xenomorph And fsce huggers use a hieghtened sense of body heat and echo/sound location to see The reason they ignore androids and robots is because they have no body heat They can sense them, but they don't sense a host or food That was why the xeno morph ignored Kay after landing on-top of her Because the water spigots were dousing everything and she would have had lower body temp. They recognize guns because the future guns use pulse rounds which have heat and energy signatures. Etc.
Spoilers: The director and writers nailed it paying homage to the other films: Matching the set design of Alien was brilliant. Spoilers of a few observations among many details: Reminder: I said spoilers Alien: 1. The blue mist which is created by the Xenomorphs as a trigger alert for prey. In Alien, Kane is "pulled" down to the eggs by the mist. 2. Bringing back Ash as Rook who is still deceptive and at the end of the day only wanting to secure the specimen as anyone else is dispensable. 3. The round metal hatch closures. 4. Acid for blood as a deadly obstacle on a space ship 5. The remaining 3 before the very end was two women and one black man. 6. The "final girl" with the transmission log. 7. Self destruct countdown to escape in ship 8. A tall man was in the Alien suit 9. Ian Holm - Ash / Rook 10. On her own Ripley blasts the xenomorph out into space at the end before going into stasis. 11. Ripley quickly puts on space suit in shear terror. Aliens: 1. The combat pulse rifles, but with a great modification 2. The nest 3. The dead bodies of the people used as hosts hanging from above. 3. Bishop as the nice android aka I prefer the phrase "artificial person" 4. A spectacular third act 5. Andy brings cornbread to Rain. 6. Understandable hostility toward Andy as per past experiences with androids. 7. Andy is incapacitated to the point he needs to go into stasis and repaired later. 8. The similar side shot of one of the facehuggers trying to attach to Tyler is almost the same as Ripley. 9. Self destruct countdown to escape planet. 10. Rescuing someone in the nest who has not been implanted with an embryo (Newt / Kay) 11. Elevator sequences. 12. Ripley evolution and highly intelligent (Rain) 13. On her own, Ripley fights and forces the queen - xenomorph into space. Alien 3 (I truly hated this film and it was not David Fincher's fault) 1. Navarro having a shaved head like Ripley 2. The close up shot of the xenomporph's face to Rain as she turns her head in terror. 3. The bleak living conditions on the planets. Prisoners in both worlds? Alien Resurrection: 1. The swimming facehuggers like the swimming xenomorphs 2. The offspring in the third act (exceptionally executed and far more terrifying in Romulus) 3. Experimentation with DNA searching for the perfect organism. Prometheus: 1. Greek mythology 2. Cylinder vase and the black fluid 3. Peter Weyland presence by name 4. Experimentation highly based on information and discovery from Promethues film 5. Total a-hole male character being an abusive bully toward an android. 6. Alien creature coming from a woman via terrifying "birth" 7. Final Girl ( not for long ) 8. Characters that survive are a woman and a male android. 9. The engineer. Alien Covenant 1. Two androids: one sinister and one good. 2. Experimentation for the perfect organism. 3. Describing humans as flawed beings not perfect enough to "exist" 4. Looking for a better life. I LOVE this obviously - LOL

Sounds gross but when I was in labour and had just delivered my little girl, my other half cut the chord but the bit that was left attached to the inside of my belly button was still there. No one tells you how they remove it but it was just like this movie in all it's gory detail, my midwife did it while I was having skin to skin. With no warning at all just reached her hand up there and pulled it out hard, then she just left it on a tray table right next to my bed it as the grossest thing ive ever seen in my life, the pain was horrific il never forget that moment and this movie just put me right back in that moment

Thanks guys! ❤

The entire third act was just absolutely bonkers and I love it. Best alien movie outside of the first two, even if I found the fan service a little cringe at times.
The only line that I didn't like was the "get away from her you bitch" However, the "You both have my sympathies" line I liked It felt natural for the Rook Models to have that kind of snark as part of their personality
The actor who plays the human-xenomorph hybrid in the 2024 movie Alien: Romulus is Robert Bobroczkyi, an ethnic Hungarian former college basketball player from Romania. With 2.31 m (7 ft 7 in).

the prequels are actually very good the explore themes that have always been with the alien franchise. I think they’re very interesting movies but they’re not for everyone. People wouldn’t argue they’re bad movies though
Only 3 and 4 really are called bad, but they even have their fans (like me, i love them all). The prequels have gotten a resurgence of love after this movie came out.
@@emosam07 prequels personally are some of my fav alien movies! I think 3 is a lil boring but i think alien 4 is quite fun! Personally im glad alien is such a strong franchise it doesn’t dip in the same way nightmare on elm street or halloween dips
You guys should definitely watch Prometheus, it does give some insight into what is going on what the black goo is and such It ties pretty well into this movie
There is a Fan Cut for this filme. That edition has less references to the other films, less CGI face and less endings, its called "Alien Romulus [Edição-CSJ]".
You guys really need to watch Prometheus, and Alien Covenant. It will help explain some of the lore, and "black goo" origins and adaptations/mutations/functionality. This movie is awesome in that it basically references everytbing from previous Alien IP, mainly the movies, but even including the Alien: Isolation game.
Opinions on the prequels (Prometheus and Covenant) are definitely mixed. IMO Prometheus is a good movie but I don't personally feel it fits in the Alien franchise, answering questions that were better off left unanswered, Covenant is just bad. The general consensus towards the prequels I'd say is slightly negative, though with the release of Romulus they've sort of had a small resurgence with certain fans. I'm not a fan of the prequels, but opinions obviously vary, and if you like the prequels I'm glad you enjoy it, I just didn't :) Alien Romulus was absolutely wild though, and I hope Fede gets another story in the franchise. Just keep the goated atmosphere.

But after the Nostromo went missing they scrapped everything to cover their asses
That's why the Yutanicexecs at the meeting with Ripley not only had no idea but had never explored the alien ship that they didn't know was there
It was Burke using Ripley's coordinates that sent the colonists to "check it out"
While it is it also doesn’t make any sense at the same time
It made $350 million dollars against an $80 million dollar budget.
They also got a British actor to do tools voice and he does an amazing Ian Holmes impression.
You two need to see Prometheus to under the impact of the "black goo" and the Engineers' plan (the original beings)! That will help you understand.
I love that the human alien they got a really tall person to play it
The way most of the crew treat Andy is, i feel, like a representation of mistreatment of autsitic people
trivia time!
- When Tyler, Bjorn, and Andy tour the reactivated Renaissance station, Wagner's "The Entry of the Gods into Valhalla" from "Das Rheingold" is heard over the introductory audio explaining the station being named after Romulus and Remus. This ties back to Alien: Covenant (2017), when Peter Weyland first activates David and asks him to play Wagner, choosing "The Entry of the Gods into Valhalla."
- In the background of several shots, the emergency telephones that function as save stations from Alien: Isolation (2014) can be seen.
(also why it shows to have electricity runing thru it's skull bc bjorn tried to kill it before it was fully born, show casing you can indeed give it additional traits)
- One notable design element in the film is the pulse rifle, which merges features from the original Alien (1979) flamethrower and the Aliens (1986) pulse rifle.
Prometheus was a bit different compared to other Aliens but I still enjoyed it
60-40 is really really bad in that situation lol!!
You guys had so many innuendos locked and loaded for this one lol ...but thats kindve the point of Gigers work isnt it? Beyond the bio mechanical fusion is the uncomfy macabre erotica. Such great creature design even 45+ years later.
All I can think about with the fossil in the beginning is how in pokemon all you need is the fossil to bring them to life 😂
Ive watched 5-10 reactions already and instantly clicked on your guys😂 since dahmer in 2022 love ur channel yo
So this film really managed to add to lore
The Xenomorph And fsce huggers use a hieghtened sense of body heat and echo/sound location to see
The reason they ignore androids and robots is because they have no body heat
They can sense them, but they don't sense a host or food
That was why the xeno morph ignored Kay after landing on-top of her
Because the water spigots were dousing everything and she would have had lower body temp.
They recognize guns because the future guns use pulse rounds which have heat and energy signatures.
Etc.
Miners use canaries to detect toxic fume levels, age old practice
Yeah, the end of this ties heavily into Prometheus
This is the third best in the franchise. I really like this movie
Me Too I hope they would do a sequel between Aliens And Alien 3
@@brandonrobinson529hope it doesn’t end up like last Jed
Totally watch the other Alien films! Romulus paid great homage to the whole franchise.
Spoilers:
The director and writers nailed it paying homage to the other films: Matching the set design of Alien was brilliant.
Spoilers of a few observations among many details:
Reminder: I said spoilers
Alien:
4. Acid for blood as a deadly obstacle on a space ship
5. The remaining 3 before the very end was two women and one black man.
6. The "final girl" with the transmission log.
7. Self destruct countdown to escape in ship
8. A tall man was in the Alien suit
9. Ian Holm - Ash / Rook
10. On her own Ripley blasts the xenomorph out into space at the end before going into stasis.
11. Ripley quickly puts on space suit in shear terror.
Aliens:
1. The combat pulse rifles, but with a great modification
2. The nest
3. The dead bodies of the people used as hosts hanging from above.
3. Bishop as the nice android aka I prefer the phrase "artificial person"
4. A spectacular third act
10. Rescuing someone in the nest who has not been implanted with an embryo (Newt / Kay)
11. Elevator sequences.
12. Ripley evolution and highly intelligent (Rain)
13. On her own, Ripley fights and forces the queen - xenomorph into space.
Alien 3 (I truly hated this film and it was not David Fincher's fault)
1. Navarro having a shaved head like Ripley
2. The close up shot of the xenomporph's face to Rain as she turns her head in terror.
3. The bleak living conditions on the planets. Prisoners in both worlds?
Alien Resurrection:
1. The swimming facehuggers like the swimming xenomorphs
2. The offspring in the third act (exceptionally executed and far more terrifying in Romulus)
3. Experimentation with DNA searching for the perfect organism.
Prometheus:
1. Greek mythology
2. Cylinder vase and the black fluid
3. Peter Weyland presence by name
4. Experimentation highly based on information and discovery from Promethues film
5. Total a-hole male character being an abusive bully toward an android.
6. Alien creature coming from a woman via terrifying "birth"
7. Final Girl ( not for long )
8. Characters that survive are a woman and a male android.
9. The engineer.
Alien Covenant
1. Two androids: one sinister and one good.
2. Experimentation for the perfect organism.
3. Describing humans as flawed beings not perfect enough to "exist"
4. Looking for a better life.
I LOVE this obviously - LOL
The canary is for the mines, miners use them to alert them if there is toxic air down there. Have y’all never heard of a canary in a coal mine? It’s a pretty universally known thing
This movie was soooooo good along with you’re reactions!
NGL yall ain’t seen Prometheus or covenant but damn you gotta see cause of how good Andi” was you have to see “David”
I love how the android's name is Andy. Andy the Android.
The Star Trek nerd in me hears/sees the word Romulus and thinks about Romulans.
Thank you for taking the time to create your reaction post. You are one of the few "first time watching" channels that the reviews are actually viewing the film for the first time. I saw the film in the theaters twice and your review is like watching the film again. Bravo. Plus you have fantastic senses of humor. Brilliant. Watch Prometheus as it is the "beginning" of the story. Don't waste your time with Alien: Covenant, Alien 3, or Alien Resurrection.
Hell yesss. I feel like i wanted more sneaking around + alien in it, in the middle part before it went crazy near the end. That being said still a top 3 alien movie ever
The movie was too short and the casting is really good ! I would have liked 2 hours or more 🥹
@@nickkyie5820 hopefully we see the directors cut someday! Ridley Scott made Fede Alvarez to trim it down 😫 Idk how much they cut from it
@@ville1345 Hopefully ! Can't wait for it to happen !
Love all the practical effects
The practical effects are the best part of the film
Sounds gross but when I was in labour and had just delivered my little girl, my other half cut the chord but the bit that was left attached to the inside of my belly button was still there. No one tells you how they remove it but it was just like this movie in all it's gory detail, my midwife did it while I was having skin to skin. With no warning at all just reached her hand up there and pulled it out hard, then she just left it on a tray table right next to my bed it as the grossest thing ive ever seen in my life, the pain was horrific il never forget that moment and this movie just put me right back in that moment
This is the first time I have ever heard that the umbilical cord gets yanked out after birth - count me horrified because holyyyyyy I cannot believe people choose to have multiple kids 😳
@@georgia9183 same I stopped after that, maybe it's not the norm but it's certainly how my midwife did the job. Enough to put me off going back I felt the pain even through the epidural and my stomach has never been the same since
holyyyyy that's terrifying!
Great reaction! One of the better entries into the franchise, really entertaining, gross and everything youd expect from this kind of movie. Again, great reaction.
Btw regarding the bird, i assume someone on your patreon explained the whole canary in the coal mine? It would die if there wasnt enough oxygen or dangerous gases, carbon monoxide...etc, and theyd know to leave immediately
🛑 FACTOID 🛑 Countdown voice is Sigourney Weaver
whhaattttt?!?! That's so cool!!!
I liked the two lead actors playing Rain and Andy. The Ash part was weird.
ROOK is not Ash, but Rook is a common model used by the company
It makes sense that the company has more than one...
Rain should have upgraded Andy a long time ago back at the colony. It seemed super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Love the pitch meeting reference
Soo they were just going to give them an updated rom for Andy ? Lol
@@TranquilAshes umm yeah
1. Andy is technically stolen property
As rain's dad found him thrown into a trash dump, and rebuilt him from there
So they can't just take him in
2. Upgrades are probably very expensive and these miners don't seem to make much.
I love how stupld alien fans is,the same fanbase who hate prometheus and covenant when they didn't even know the story
NICE REACTION ....What does the dog sticker in the corner mean?
Saw this in theatres when it came out, personally i enjoyed this movie, you get a mix of story, character building, emotional attachment, anger, fear, disgust, the music is great, the shots are great, the acting is on point specially the Androids!
The balance between the two of you is hilarious, Cody talks while Bridgette is quite, Cody has a look of fear while Bridgette has a look of disgust, the subtle dirty jokes, makes for entertaining reactions! Thanks guys! ❤
This movie was MAGNIFICENT!! What an incredible addition to the Alien Series. I have it just behind Aliens and ahead of the original.
The third best in the franchise
@@Xenomorph.fan24 Your opinion, not mine.
@@tobindaily9961 no I agree with you. In my opinion it’s the third best
This was so good!! The atmospheric tension as the alien approaches so well done !! Although groaned at some of the plot points, sure bring the likely infected person on board what could go wrong?
the moment when the girl gives birth to the baby-alien is one of the best in the franchise
The entire third act was just absolutely bonkers and I love it. Best alien movie outside of the first two, even if I found the fan service a little cringe at times.
The only line that I didn't like was the "get away from her you bitch"
However, the "You both have my sympathies" line I liked
It felt natural for the Rook Models to have that kind of snark as part of their personality
Fede Álvarez saving another franchise, what a man
this one is on the same level as the original, wow
The actor who plays the human-xenomorph hybrid in the 2024 movie Alien: Romulus is Robert Bobroczkyi, an ethnic Hungarian former college basketball player from Romania. With 2.31 m (7 ft 7 in).
I love the full on freakyness of the Offspring. I hate it but I love it 😀 And this movie kicks butt!
this movie had blown me away on my first try watching it thank y’all for reacting to it
How does Cody aways know what's gonna happen ? That's kinda suspicious 🤣
I love feeling like I'm showing a movie i like to my buddies. :)
After Aliens, this is my 2nd fav Xenomorph movie. And from the first damn scene to when he died, I HATED Bjorn.
Can you guys react to the show “From” it’s amazing and I think you both will love it!
I just watched this film last night and have strong opinions about it. lol Excited to see your reactions and hear what you thought about the film, especially the characters.
The newborn looked like a deformed alien, it had an awesome design, the offspring looks like an abomination, something that shouldnt exis, its a walking nightmare
the prequels are actually very good the explore themes that have always been with the alien franchise.
The composed music for this was AMAZING!! on another note, please Watch Prometheus ones!!!
please watch the substance
You guys should definitely watch Prometheus, it does give some insight into what is going on what the black goo is and such
It ties pretty well into this movie
2:41- Remnants of the NOSTROMO,
thanks to Ellen Ripley!!!!!😊
There is a Fan Cut for this filme. That edition has less references to the other films, less CGI face and less endings, its called "Alien Romulus [Edição-CSJ]".
29:11 this aged like milk by the end
I'm not a fan of the prequels, but opinions obviously vary, and if you like the prequels I'm glad you enjoy it, I just didn't :)
Alien Romulus was absolutely wild though, and I hope Fede gets another story in the franchise. Just keep the goated atmosphere.
Rook was actually a well made isan holm puppet, with slight CGI used to make the scenes flow more
The vpoce was provided by a huann actpr, whocqas doing an imlressive Ian Holm impression
The abomination hybrid was also a real person, played by a 7"7' basketball player
Withcvery good make up and prosthetics
They went old school as much as possible with this film which is greatly reflected in how many people loved it as getting back to the roots of the Aliens franchise...
I also love andy becoming like rook, but then becomes our Bishop...
57:08 "You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like."
I loved your reaction!
Rook was the same model synthetic than Ash was in the first movie, his face was heavy CGI as Ian Holm died 2020 so they couldn't do it better I guess.
this was so awesome to see in theaters
37:46 i actually agree with Andy here. That xenomorph was clearly waiting for em to open the door. They open that door all dies.
In the early days of mining canaries were carried around in case there were any cases of poison gas.
When or if the canary dropped dead that was the miners warning to gtf out.
True story.
Prometheus and Alien covenant explain the black goo. I had to go back and watch them and it made more sense
Why do they have birds as coal miners? Companionship.
You should definitely check out Prometheus next. There are some similarities/parallels to Romulus but overall it's just a great prequel.
The cousin is the dad. Confirmed by Fede.
