I just turned 30. I have been a govt job aspirants after graduation(SSC/UPSC) for 5 years. Unfortunately I couldn't crack it. So I thought about a plan B and started learning to code. I have spent last 1.5 years learning to code. I did spend time learning dsa, backend development using Java Spring boot. I have knowledge in C++, java and javascript. I started applying a month back. Started getting calls recently. Even though I havn't cracked a job yet, I'm improving day by day. Making changes to my resume when I learn new things.
For starters build applications or do some projects and don't fall into tutorial hell. Don't make clones. Build something, even if it's a clone you should know what you are doing, you should understand why you have written a particular line of code and you should be able to explain it in front of an interviewer. Learn some advanced concepts as well inorder to stand out among other candidates. If you can solve problems on a daily basis do that as well. It'll greatly improve your programming logic. I'll update if I get a job.

I joined the IT field after graduation in 2022 and worked as a backend developer for one and half years. Although I did well technically, I realized after 1.5 years that it wasn't for me mentally. I left and have since been preparing for competitive exams like UGC NET and PSC. Even though I did my MCA, it still took me 1.5 years of working in the actual field to realize it wasn't my cup of tea. So, make your decisions very carefully and ask yourself a million times before quitting your job.

@@deeh2525 The primary reason was the toxic work culture. I was dealing with two projects simultaneously: one was a CRM, and the other was for the Kerala Education Department. I was working for 13+ hours a day (yes, you heard me right). Once, they assigned me a ticket for importing old MySQL data(which was poorly managed) into a PostgreSQL staging server, . I had to manually make some tweaks here and there and even write DML manually by referring to the old SQL file, which took an entire day and night to complete (they said it was urgent and important). I managed to finish it by 10 o'clock in the morning. After finishing that, I asked for a half-day leave. Guess what? They rejected my request. That day, I lost it and decided to leave the company.
