      I wish it was mine. I heard it in another video about how women look at themselves thanks to society.
      but it is so true that I remember about it.

    I went back to school at 47 and became a registered nurse at 52. I am now 63 and it was the best thing I ever did. It amazed me that some people would ask me "don't you think you are too old to go back to school?" No, you are never to old to follow your dreams. Should I have stayed in a job I hated making low wages? I started a you tube channel at 60 and I am having so much fun. I learned to film, edit and post my own videos. So age means nothing. You are never to old or to young to do the things that challenge you and make you happy. Don't ever let someone else define you. Great video btw! Your mom sounds awesome!

In my thirties I am learning new things (on sooo many subjects) every day! My biggest inspiration is my grandma, she never listened to what society think “old” people should be like. A lot of my friends (when I was a teenager) stopped by her house to chat with her, they all said she was “cool” and that they could not believe a grandma could be like that (=open minded, easy to talk to, funny, modern, ...).

    I'm almost 25 and always see men talking about how women's desirability begins to decline quickly at the age of 25. How cruel and sad is it to make such young people, whose brains have just fully developed into its prime, feel like their physicality is on a plummet. We've just grown up and are suddenly less valuable than we were when we were immature. So annoying.

They used it like a motivation "I have less years to live now. I should start moving and not lose any othet day". Also during my childhood I watched 80s and 70s movies and all the main actresses were in their 30s and 40s and were considered beauties. Then when I hit my mid 40's and both of my parents were gone it's like well
      I now have nobody I can turn to. I was going through a divorce on top of it and
      left the US Arrmy after 12 years of service. I entered at an older age I was 33.
      So with the problems I had with my wife and our kids were still young we had
      in our mid to late 30's so I had a mountain of responsibility, I could not transition into a decent job due to age discrimmination and a tough economy too.
      I did transfer into the Army Reserves a Sergeant in order to continue service (now 45 years old) - and have some kind of a career. And my son is autistic low functioning and so
      my wife had to deal with it, and also our take care of daughter who was normal thank God.
      So my wife had to do a lot while I was working at what was now gig jobs and a Reservist a weekend a month. Our relationship grew more and more distant and I had to
      recover from being stabbed in the right arm by her. I had to have surgery in the back of the bicep area when the median artery is, and the nerve had to be checked for damage. So one good thing was I got 90 days of work,
      on orders at the Reserves when I asked if I could.
      We were separated I did not press charges on her because I was worried about our kids.
      A few months later she went to court for an assault charge and was given probation by the court. I remained on my own always supporting them financially and compromising my own life.
      The Dept.of The VA awarded me VA Compensation at a decent amount and financially
      helping us out greatly. I got the divorce and also finished 20 years of military service through the Reserves, I was 54 when I retired from there in 2018. Today I am in a local rock band as a bassist, I just recently got the gig, chasing a dream I had in the early 1980's when I was still a teen.
      Believe in a higher power, I was saying prayers to Jesus all the time over these years
      maybe because my mother always believed in Him and told me that prayers can work.
      Somehow, try to enjoy the challenges in your life, and work as hard as you can to achieve your dreams.

    Actually my mom is huge inspiration for me. She was 35 when she had me, around 40 she started completely new career as a yoga instructor, before that she worked as a event manager...then..she divorced my abusive father and raised three children (I have two older brothers) on her own as a self employed person in country, where at that time was some kind of stigma surrounding yoga, selfdevelopment (anything not christian). She had to work hard. Her best years are now when she is in her 60s she is the most happiest, she is healthier than me. Her "life" started around 40.💜 Don't let anybody deceive you. Considering the average life expectancy here in Australia is 82.50, I find that 31 being considered old is ridiculous. As for me, I'm 41, just completed a Masters degree and just starting out in a brand new career, and also in the throws of starting my new business. I'm also not married, and child-free (both have never been my jam) OMG!!!! and well to anyone who gives me grief it's a decided F#$CK OFF. Also both sides of the family have lived well into their 90s - my paternal Grandma lived to 97, so going on that I haven't even reached middle age yet!!!!! How sad that we live in a society that you reach your peak in your 20s. I feel really sorry for anyone that believes that!

(her plan was to feed the cat on the other side) The only way we knew about it is because she insisted on wearing fancy clothes while doing it. Sometimes she got stuck and firefighters would come to get her from the fence.
    So this is how my plans for 80 are. Waiting for sexy firefiters in my fancy dress. When this is the plan for 80, You can just imagine how adventurous 40 or 59 or 71 will be.
    I encourage anyone reading. Take this plan. Join me on the fence!

  • @amandas6600
    @amandas6600 4 ปีที่แล้ว +55

    Okay, here is my super-long, 3 paragraph response, which I hope might benefit someone somewhere. I'm 38, and I have felt everything described in this video - both the good and the bad. A part of me feels 'embarrassed' by my age, which has led to behaviours that enable my own invisibility; I'm constantly around people who are younger than me and am acutely aware of the way women in their 30s are viewed. I look younger than my age, which makes life 'easier' for me - but the truth is I don't feel my age anyway. I feel wiser, NOT older, and I believe that's the most painful aspect of society's negative attitude towards aging: the older you get, you feel wiser, you feel more at ease within yourself and within the world, you feel calmer, you are less self-focused and therefore capable of greater generosity - AND YET YOU DON'T FEEL OLDER. In my mind, I'm perpetually 27, or 28 - for other women, this could be any age. But the point is that I forget my own age because I no longer think of myself in terms of how many years I've been alive but instead I think of myself in terms of the life I've lived - I feel like I am GROWING, not aging. It's only the mirror and society that say otherwise.
    Sometimes I start to feel panicked because I haven't "accomplished enough" for a 38yo. I never married, never had kids. I don't own my own home (yet). I'm not 'settled' in my life. What's more, I'm currently at university earning a Bachelor's degree, aiming for honors and a new career - effectively putting my financial security on hold. But I'm working towards a future filled with MORE financial stability and MORE fun. I used to feel so much pressure to accomplish all of this before I hit 40... that isn't going to happen, but I've realised it doesn't matter. I am growing and learning from this process. What would I be doing otherwise? Working a full-time job I hate? And then hitting 40 and looking back and regretting all that wasted time? I don't want that!
    I know I'm lucky to live in a country where I can afford to get an education, and that may not be feasible or desirable for everyone. But my advice to people of ALL AGES is to not second-guess your plans or dreams simply because of your age - you will REGRET any time wasted on doubt and insecurity. If you think you can't do something simply because of your age, you are just defeating yourself! And if you really do hit a wall - for example, if you want a new career, and you're 70, and employers aren't interested in hiring you because of your age - make your own opportunities! Be creative, volunteer, start a TH-cam channel, whatever. Don't just give up because society says x is only appropriate for x age. That's only an opinion, and you don't have to share it. And if you think you will be "too old" to benefit from your goals by the time you reach them, just remember that it doesn't matter how long it takes to achieve goals, because it's the journey towards them makes life more fulfilling and valuable - and "future you" will probably disagree anyway!

I enjoy life a lot more compared to my teens and twenties and I am excited about all the options that I have.
    Still, I can`t help but feel anxious about losing my youth and getting wrinkles. Don`t know how to let that go.

    • @aestaeticedits7998
      @aestaeticedits7998 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly!!! The way I see it, age is an arbitrary number and it’s like telling someone to “ACT LIKE A CERTAIN NUMBER!” Lmao when you look it like that you truly realize just how ridiculous it is 😂 I’m 21 and my favorite stores are Forever 21 and Hot Topic and hell yeah I’m gonna keep wearing cute graphic tees with sayings on them like “squad goals” or shirts with tacos all over them, or hell yeah I’m gonna by a shirt from Hot Topic with one of my favorite animes on it! I always, ALWAYS told myself that I would never ever let my age define me, yet because of society and the way other people get judged because of their age I still can’t help but question certain things about myself when I shouldn’t. I literally asked my mom if I’m “too old” for stores like Forever 21 and Hot Topic and my style (ulzzang style, Korean streetwear, baddie, y2k, a hint of egirl) and she literally said “OH GOD NO!” Like she literally said that. She even said when I’ll be 30 I still won’t be too old either. I’m lucky to have parents that are so laid back and open minded. They’re in their early 60s by the way and they certainly don’t act like “old people.” My mom doesn’t dress like an old lady and my dad doesn’t dress like an old man. And they call themselves old but even I don’t think they are. They’re only in their early 60s and my mom especially calls herself old all the time and I always tell her “mom you’re not old!” Usually it would be someone her age telling someone in their 20s or 30s or even 40s to stop calling themselves old, but here I am telling my mom to stop calling herself that! Age is just a number. Some people are already old by 25 and others are still young at 45. It depends on the person. It really does blow my mind that in this day and age, with people living longer and healthier than ever before and there’s more acceptance to be yourself at any age, there’s still judgemental shallow minded people that call anyone over 25-30 “old.” It’s 2020! Times have changed people! Just let people be!

With your young spirit and energy, you will always look beautiful and VIBRANT!!! Wow how much I relate to your words! I'm 25 I'll be 26 soon and I always have to prepare my mind on saying I'm year older as if to force myself to be confident and okay with it. But look at the bright side, there are people who died so young and didn't get the chance to come this far like we did so it's a true blessing. And like she said the older we get the wiser and more mature we get and that's very good.

    • @kimmiasnss
      @kimmiasnss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can relate . Few people guess my age ( 26). Usually people think I am in my 30s. Rarely do I get mistaken for being younger than 26. While all my friends didnt change since high school. It is painful to deal with but we gotta live and we gotta overcome this. Also my parents looked older at 20 and 30. But now they are in their 60s and people think they are still in their 40s. This gives me hope. That I will look younger than my peers at 60 hehehe.

    • @libertaria771
      @libertaria771 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really can relate to this too. I'm 26, soon turning 27 and a few years ago I started to be scared of aging. I was pretty careless before, but somehow - through all the social media and ads, I guess - I realized I had actually wrinkles and no skin routine to prevent them, I had no chosen a right profession yet, I could basically never imagine myself being 30 or more. As a woman raised in such a sexist culture, I used to see women in their 30s as old. Fortunately, maturing makes me look really better than in my early 20s and I honestly feel better about my body and conscious about my womanhood. Since I've always been quite a mature person who wouldn´t understand her peers, all my friends or partners have been waaay older than me, and I´ve been able to enjoy feeling "young" or even childish among them. However, because of that and my genetics, I appear older, and people usually think I am in my 30s, despite my particular hair and fashion style. But probably the worst thing I've experienced due to the fear of aging has been the fact that older I get, the less I know what I want. And I definitely expected something else from myself at this stage than what I am actually experiencing, since we all somehow expect to have certain things sorted out in the 30s - such as career or some basic life goals. Therapy helps me to overcome these feelings and understand that we are not defined by what we have achieved or by our age or what we look like, nor by any similar social standards. To be honest, sometimes the best way of dealing with it is don't giving a sh*t at all. But despite me being that kind of person who does not care much about others' opinions or social standards, I have to admit that the social media pressure has probably affected me too. The best thing you can do is to allow yourself look back and realize how much you have grown up and learned thanks to all your experiences and that feeling is definitely worth aging. I wouldn't exchange my current self for its younger version.

    This topic is something I'm dealing with a lot in last few years. I started college at 25, I'm 27 now and I'm the oldest in my year. Almost everyone is 7 years younger then me, but I look much younger so it was quite a shock for them when they found out 😂 Some people have told me: "No offense, but I can't imagine being so old like you, it's terrifying." It's offensive to me because I look better then most of them, I travel more, even party more, have ton of hobbies and I'm really happy. To most of them college is a burden, I enjoy every aspect of it - from studying to partying, and often I feel younger then them. Actually when I was 20 I felt older then now, I even dressed older. So it really saddens me to see such attitudes in people.
    And not just that, when I meet guys my age they call themselves old. It's absurd to me, you grow your whole life! I can't imagine myself being with someone with such narrow mindset.
