Similar operation I perform on my 2019 Colorado except I change the oil every 3K. I'm an old school guy. Also, when starting the engine after the oil change, I press the accelerator pedal to the floor and crank the engine for 10 seconds. The engine will not start ( called flood control) which will build oil pressure. Then release accelerator pedal and start the engine. Good job. I enjoy your videos.
Thank you thank you I used to work in a garage doing brakes and suspension, oil changes were nothing back then but lately with the prices of everything I'm afraid to even wash it in fear of wrecking something. Confidence restored thank you !!
Do you always use 5w20? Did you ever use 5w30? I bought a 21 and I know the manual calls for 0w20 but i don't know. Seems to thin to me. I was just wondering what is your experience on the oil viscosity or types of oil? Thanks 👍
My 2018 colorado takes 5 quarts with filter...it is about an 1/8 of a quart low using 5...according to the dip stick anyway...so i add another 1/8 or so to get it on the full mark.
It's fine unless you live in an area where it's frequently below 10 degrees. Even then it would be years before any damage would ever occur, which most likely would never happen

Getting ready to do mine always cool to see it done first 😊
Use old filter to rub some oil on new ones gasket, so it doesn't stick and you won't need pliers to remove it next time. Or rub on with finger.

Mine calls for 5w20. Always used 5w20
My 2019 Chevy Colorado owners manual says the 2.5l only needs 5qts even with a new oil filter. I don’t really understand the difference!

Same
Great job , thank you
Should try changing the oil filter first and then drain the oil....never need an filter wrench....
What happen if by mistake I used oil 5w30 instead of 5w-20 . I used full synthetic oil.
I doubt it’s going to be an issue but refer to your manual and or dealer

do you service your transmission as well?
I do! Every 25k I change the oil. It’s a manual though which is kinda rare
Do youjust use the dexron 6 auto trans fluid in the manual or do you add anything with it?(like half a quart of lucas synthetic lube)@@DoingDaveStuff
Just straight auto fluid. I’ll be doing a video this weekend on it
depends is you are manual or auto transmission. if its newish and an auto do not
Why are you using 5w-20?
My ‘21 Colorado says to use 0w-20
Manual says to use it as well on the cap
Got it. Thanks for the reply
