❤ I am so glad I discovered your Sjogren's videos. I was told that I had this disease several years ago but none of my doctor's ever gave me guidelines to help me manage my symptoms. I have access to very high quality medical care at UAMS in Arkansas but my doctor's left me feeling that Sjogren's was nothing I could do anything about. I wonder how many people are like me and need the kind of help that your videos provide. Thank you so much for using your time and knowledge to educate us.

they lie avoid food triggers delay reaction too even your toothpaste things like corn and fruitose fruit spict foods it can take days to get back where you were 3 days for me what also really leped me is vitamin d have you ever tried high dose vitamin d get your level checked if your level is on the low range and if the doctor will agree try 50,000 iu once a week and see how you feel in a month and half it's when you start notice it helps i call it the miracle vitamin it not getting your level in range what helps it works like medicine as d is a hormone a steroid and only helps when taking it

I am 75 and have Sjogren's. It is my belief that a gluten-free kidney friendly diet is the best diet for me and would help other people who have Sjogren's. I also consume a small serving of active yogurt every morning to provide the needed bacteria my stomach may lack. These changes in my diet has help to alleviate the digestive symptoms l have caused by the Sjogren's Syndrome.

There is no need of eliminating grains, such as rye, amaranth, buckwheat, farro and long grain rice, even though a few of them contain gluten. They contain very important vitaminB group (3,6, 12) that are absolutely needed for our mental health. Only those, who were tested and proven to be gluten sensitive, have to eliminate the grains.

My Chinese doctor, suggested that eating potato salad (cold) is better, than hot potato, due to its transformed enzymatic structure. Also, cooked tomatoes don’t have Histamins, but have more nutrients, than in the raw form.

Thank you to the wonderful educated compassionate Rheumatologist making these videos. I needed up here doing so much research on google. This year I am diagnosed with GERDS/LPR, SJÖGRENS and LUPUS. I have every symptom of lupus and Sjogrens all of them. Yesterday I took one bite of eggplant ( it only had a Celtic salt , organic extra virgin olive oil and a tiny bit organic tomato paste). My lips and on the outside of my mouth started burning , my mouth had a very uncomfortable tingling burning spicy sensation, then the breathing got bad right away my heart or whatever surrounds my heart was pumping fast , I felt so uneasy I couldn’t lay down , struggling to breathe and my chest felt so much pressure. Then cuts started forming in the inside of my left hand and right hand and arms. The white mold looking bruises I got flared up. It’s like as if herds wasn’t bad enough the lupus and sjoigrens all are teaming up on me. I’m scared to like eat , so it’s not just acidic and spicey foods I gotta watch out for it’s now random attacks. Like yes you ate this yesterday and it was great but today it’ll put you in damn near anaphylactic state. 😢any advice for me ? Soon I’ll be seeing my rheumatologist, I’ll be getting the motility and manometry test with the gastroenterology, I’ll be seeing a cardiologist, pulmonologist and orthopedic. I’m always struggling to breathe, I’m always congested, i feel like I got bronchitis all the time , I got all kinds of rashes. My joints and everything hurt. I feel so fatigued like I thank God , cause I know that’s where my strength comes from. I’m always distracted and clumsy , forgetful. That’s not me that’s not normal. I’m loosing hair , my mouth tongue gets all nasty and yeasty very white , my nose always dry Ang dry blood, so much more it’s exhausting

I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this at such a young age not to mention all the other things that adolescents endure now. The most important thing that I’ve learned in having issues with my own health is that you and you alone are the best at understanding how you are feeling. If you aren’t satisfied with the level of treatment that you are receiving go and seek treatment with someone else. I suggest that you go and lookup Sjogrens Foundation that not only will give you credible information on this disease but will also enable you to join in conversations with others that share the same ailments via a Forum. You are already on the right track by seeking out more information. Please remember that you are not alone and you are clearly a fighter and you can manage this. Take care and may God Bless You. 😊🤗

I’m vegetarian. I’ve had every tooth break from lack of saliva. I went to a clinic dentist years ago, when I still had some whole teeth left. He told me to “just leave it that way”. That was it.
I have lactose-free milk. I do try to get fiber mindfully. I have tried some gluten-free foods & they seem fine. I eat yogurt with dark cherries. I must repeat that I have never heard anything about Sjögren’s syndrome until I found your videos. I can’t thank you enough.

It's so frustrating that our health care system is so fragmented and hangs on insurance approval, that there is no good link between family doctors and specialists. I had a blood test that showed elevated white blood cell count right before a surgery, which it almost interfered with. I just thought I might have been a little sinusy. Now I know it may have been because of sjogrens - very few health care professionals know enough to connect the dots.

The do not eat list has been my menu. I also eat the good food but will try to eat better. Thank you for doing these videos.
I have a problem with cantaloupe. Watermelon used to give me a sore throat but after menopause not a problem as much any longer. I will need to wean myself from tomatoes. (the agony). Yes, drink a lot of smoothies and a soup. Having to give up milk products have been hard but managed. Lots of water. Lots of berries. Potatoes...no more french fries..sigh... Love sea foods. Hummm... lactose sensitive stop with yogurt. Lots of salads but going to say goodbye to...oranges, tomatoes.. strawberries are not hard to find but do not keep well.
I didn't hear about apples? I gained too much weight during Covid. Fried chicken and French fries, too easy to obtain at the time. Probably why I gained weight too easily. Sugar? Still in moderation but not giving up completely.🤨 I've always thought diet is important but sadly, doctors who should be steering us toward the right foods? I guess still do not see it as important or just feel more comfortable in the one lane? Yet, fail to reccomend patients to nutritionist.
I've gone up and down in weight through the years. It will be harder to lose weight this time but I am going to focus on not eating the wrong foods to see how it goes.😁

Thank you for your videos. I have had Sjogrens for many years. An anti-inflammatory diet helps me.
One thing I'd like to say: Doctors kept asking me if I was experiencing dry eyes and mouth for years, and I always said no! The problem was that I had had Sjogren's for so long that I no longer remembered what normal felt like. Looking back, I had all the symptoms but didn't know how to pay attention to them. Especially runny eyes! I had no idea that dry eye causes people's eyes to tear, and I thought if my eyes were producing tears, I must be fine. Wrong!
Also, many people show false negatives in the initial blood testing. I did. It wasn't until I had a lip biopsy that I learned I had Sjogren's.

In the UK especially in Scotland our healthcare system is just about finished. GP practices are being taken over by the NHS because other doctors don't want to buy them out. There is also a shortage of consultants so we are lucky if we get seen once a year. In Scotland Consultants don't know much about Sjogrens or drugs which will help either, so we certainly wouldn't get help from a dietician.

I won’t follow many of her diet suggestions because they’re just not generally healthy. If I die of obesity following her suggestions it won’t matter that I have S syndrome! Of course death will be the final cure so maybe she’s thinking about a cure…?

Sorry, Dr Girnita, on this matter, we disagree. There is no way plant matter helps me. I am symptom free eating saturated fats, full fat dairy and staying off plant matter. I appreciate your efforts, however, not everything will work the same for everyone. Each person has to find what works for them and not rely wholesale on a generic list.

    • @rheumatologistoncall
      @rheumatologistoncall  ปีที่แล้ว +7

I understand that you have found a dietary approach that works for you, and that you feel that plant matter is not necessary for your health. It's true that everyone's body and health needs are unique, and what works for one person may not work for another.
However, I would like to point out that there is a significant body of scientific evidence that suggests that a diet high in plant-based foods is associated with numerous health benefits, including reduced risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and autoimmune disease. While there may be some people who can thrive on a diet that is low in plant-based foods, the evidence suggests that for most people, a diet rich in whole plant foods is optimal for health and wellbeing.
Ultimately, the decision of what to eat is up to you. However, I encourage you to consider incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet, as they may provide health benefits that are not available from a diet high in saturated fats and full-fat dairy products alone.

@@kateaye3506 Interesting. I can say my father passed on at 59 years old. Both of his parents reached 90. I attribute his early demise in part due to his diet. He died in surgery, being treated for a piece of lamb lodged in his throat. His intestines ruptured in his late 40's. He resisted all vegetables. Drank carbonated sodas and drank too much at times. A social drinker thankfully not alcoholic but all of this I can see validates what this doctor is sharing. He was diagnosed with Raynauds Syndrome around 30. Finally, Fibromyalgia, a year before his death. Too late to reverse so much of the damage that had already been done.
The doctor didn't say never, but treating foods that are not good for us as treats I imagine is a healthier choice.
