  • In this video we demonstrate the process necessary to upgrade the factory radio in your Acura MDX with the factory Bose system. If you don't have a subwoofer in the back of your MDX it does not have the Bose system. This upgrade allows you to retain your factory amplifier that powers all the speakers in the car along with the navigation. We also utilize the AXSWC to retain the steering wheel controls with the new aftermarket radio.

    I retained my steering wheel control without any extra kits. I just installed the “radio remote switch” wire on the oem side of the plug(A3/Green and Red wire) to one of the “Key” wires(key1 in my case). The radio had a key2 on it but I just cut and insulated that one cause I only needed the one Key, again, for my “Radio Remote Switch” A3 Red and Greem wire on my 2001 MDX. Radio Remote Switch to Key1.

    Hello TH-cam, If your MDX does not have a subwoofer you will not need the 70-1725. The harness with the RCAs is only necessary for the MDXs with the factory bose system.

      @AcuraAudioGarage I did this install just as in the video. 2003 Acura MDX with Bose system. Unit was Alpine ilx 650. But now I get a sub pop every time I shut off. I connected the remote wire and rca cables. I also tried giving remote wire power to accesory fuse. Nothing has worked. Any advice? Thanks!!

    When you’re connecting the steering whee control to the 70-1725 harness, do you connect the black ground to the black ground already coming out or do you have to unpin from the 1721 harness and attach it there?

    • @AcuraAudioGarage
      @AcuraAudioGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      out of the 1721 into the 70-1725 so it has two black grounds. They go together to the radio.

    Great video and I’m going to swoop up one of those custom made harnesses you made in the video if they are still available? But my stock stereo is locked and I have two different codes to unlock it that I got from the dealer with the vin and serial number method. The stereo worked fine before I got the high pressure steering pump hose replaced. My question to you is well maybe two questions haha is there anyway to factory reset the original stereo? If I buy a new unit will I run into the same problem, will the new unit also be locked? Sorry for the long message brotha. I just don’t want to waste time and money.

    Hey man, another question. I’m doing a very similar install and I set the wiring up essentially how you explained it. I have a base 2004 MDX without navigation and I don’t think it has the Bose audio. When I connect everything, I get power to the unit and the speakers work, but the volume is extremely low, I have to turn up the unit to full volume before I even hear anything. Do you know what the issue could be and how I would fix it?

    • @AcuraAudioGarage
      @AcuraAudioGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey we did not realize there was a version without the boss system in that case you will use the 70-1725. There are no RCAs needed. all speakers are wired straight to the radio.

    • @mforce1878
      @mforce1878 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AcuraAudioGarage Thank you!!! I ended up using the 70-1721 and connected it to the harness that came in my Sony XAV-AX1000. All the wires were color matched. I'm a car audio amateur & couldn't have done it without this video so I appreciate it! I think it's due to the fact the models without Bose don't have the extra Amp so the AV cables connected just resulted in super low audio.
      I just have to figure out how to set up this backup camera I got and Ill be good to go lmao

    How can I keep my CD player working after installing an aftermarket Radio like a Joying in my Acura 2006 MDX w/ Bose & Nav?

    • @AcuraAudioGarage
      @AcuraAudioGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      CD player? If you replace the factory radio the audio components from the factory (radio, navigation will not generate sound). So they may work but you will not have audio.

    I have a question...on my 4G TL 2011, it makes a very annoying statically sound every now and then and it only comes out of the dash speakers...after I turn the car off a view times, it then connects fine. I wonder if it'sy Bluetooth having issues? When I disconnect it from my cars Bluetooth, it goes away..

    • @AcuraAudioGarage
      @AcuraAudioGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, This is possibly a failing amp or a faulty HFL module both are common issues in Acuras. It's going to be a tough issue to troubleshoot. It might be easier to buy a replacement part and see if it takes care of it. If it doesn't then you can assume it's the other part. If you are good with electronics you can analyze the system and components individually but we wouldn't be able to explain how through a youtube comment.

    • @AcuraAudioGarage

      Yes internal grounding of that radio most likely. The Atoto radios are known to be very noisy on the RCA ports. We can swap the harness for you but we don't think that will solve your problem.

      @@detectingyoungstown330 So you can use the harness we show in the video but you will need a 68ohm resistor to keep your navigation working. Our limited research shows that MDXs from 05-06 need a resistor to keep climate controls/navigation working.

    • @AcuraAudioGarage
      @AcuraAudioGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      switch the blue wire on the blue plug to the red wire. The pioneer radio only puts out miliamps on the blue/white wire and its not enough to turn on the factory amp and that is why you are seeing that error. You are overloading the blue/white wire.
