The Acura MDX has an impressive audio system for its day and age but its lack of Bluetooth audio streaming brings many of its owners to replacing the factory radio. If your vehicle does not have navigation the replacement installation is rather easy if your vehicle does have navigation then you are in for a real treat.

There’s a place in NJ call Perù Primos. They especially in Acura they install any aftermarket radio with your factory speakers and amp and also make your gps screen working as screen to watch movies or whatever you want to do.

Wow! I did a lot of stereo installs as a kid. This one is over-the-top good. Wow
2022 a lot changed they make everything for this suv. I didn't use none of the factory speakers, I rewired all my door speakers and put comments in the front and 3 way in the back , and ran everything through my 5 channel amp.
U can run your interior speakers in a series in order to keep all your speakers in the car while using less channel
If you can figure it out on the Acura RL 2005 and up on how to put on a aftermarket stereo you will get a lot of people wanting to buy the plug and Play install....
I did one a 2008 MDX with NAV as well as a handful without NAV since (lol you wonder why I just swerve them ina sense- even my girlfriends 08 MDX is a NAV model but she knows the days at the shop with MDX's and acura anything for that matter are just painful so she doesnt ask haha) easy but just unneccesarily painful.
Any 08~ style MDX with NAV comes in I am automatically telling them yep lets do a nice carplay unit- pioneer kenwood w/e. Easy to slam that in. Now the fun part. Might as well just throw components at it & wire them to a 4 channel like a sundown/skar etc. Grab a monoblock and throw a little sub in the back. If you wana get crazy technical, making oem sub work/retrofitting stuff in there to an external mono is doable but if ya want it done cheap enough and easy on us and sound amazing for you- just give the unit power, ground, and switched 12v. & go wild with aftermarket everything.

You can make the factory navigation to work i bought the same kit all i did was cut the bottom to fit the navigation control
Yes we figured that also but can't mass produce the dash kit modified. How did you cut the shape of the navigation knob
I got a tl 2012 technology package so I have navigation but I put an aftermarket radio but the navi u can see it turning on but I cant see anything...what would I have to do to make it work? I bought a navitool do u think whit that it would work?@mobile max car audio

sure you'll have to rewire everything. find the speaker wire from the radio and connect straight to it
I would have to splice the aftermarket radios harness into the factory harness then run new speakers wires from the new radio?
If you have navigation like I do, get a FM Bluetooth transmitter. It's inexpensive and get the job done.
So to confirm ..... After you depinned the RS speakers pins and navigation pins did it still have a lower quality sound?
the rear camera still working like the original , becouse the original has 3 option of view when you touch the naviagation Botton?

I'm looking to install a radio in a 2009 MDX with navagation. I know your harness says (NON NAV) but would they still work for me if I bypassed the factory amp and went straight to an aftermarket amp?
No. You need to fix the crossovers afaik. From what I understood (having done this shit for a living for the better part of a decade, but not for the last couple yrs), the ONLY way to fix this shit is with an interface like the JL Audio Fix86.
How u found out the right inches for the size of the plastic black braket, I got a new radio and dint go tru that square thing. How u get the rigth size.

@@winslendyrodriguez2126 yes you can place a radio up there but it would take a lot more effort. You will also need a slim radio like an alpine ilx-w650.

Okay I've got a 2007 Acura MDX technology package fully loaded with the DVD play in the rear I would like to keep the DVD play in the rear but I'd like to upgrade everything which means I want a gut all of it I want no factory shit in my car how do I get all of that same comfort in my MDX but get rid of all the accurate shit. Like I like where everything is sitting but I like to upgrade to like a touchscreen that sort of thing and be able to still play movies in the back I don't care if I have to cut out that thing in the back the display and put in a new display what do I do do you guys have any ideas that would be great let me know
This is going to be a custom job you are looking at that will be big $$$ so we recommend working with a local shop to figure the job out. It is possible you can add a stereo and then bypass the factory amp and do a full custom system with a rear dvd player but we wouldn't be much help over the internet.

So I’m a bit confused, I have a 2009 Acura MDX with navigation. (Tech package) my Bluetooth has never worked. I’m looking at a CarPlay deck (power acoustik) for 200. Are you saying because of the amp, there is no good way to install it because it wants a signal from the navigation unit?
Yes you need to leave the navigation unit connected which will require some fabrication or bypass the factory amp.
Check out Primo Peru Sound for a work around.
So if you bypass the factory amp then problems solved?

Just bought a harness from you. Which wire do you have to tap into for illumination? I might as well just tap into it

no we haven't had the chance to work on an MDX with nav since this video. If we could borrow someones mdx it would help a ton. We are trying to buy one but used car market is crazy right now.
@@MobileMaxCarAudio ah wish I was out in CA I'd totally 'donate' mine for a couple weeks lol, thanks for the response though, hopefully one day someone figured this out. From what I understand though, they're actually data wires coming out of the HU, and everywhere they're not, the signal has already been crossed over so it limits your speaker options. I've seen people get around it before with Audison gear, and the JL fix86 I know works, but I definitely have yet to see anyone who's managed to get signal out of this ridiculous system. I have RSE though, so I'm wondering if maybe I can tap one of the 3.5mm headphone jacks and just leave the volume up on that.. idk I need to rip the thing apart one of these days, but please lmk if you guys end up sorting this out, best of luck out there the market is def the wild west rn.

I do have a question if you don't mind answering it. I have this exact model and have been trying to figure out a way to get an aftermarket stereo in it. I understand the issues with the speakers, the nav unit and the factory amp but my question is, if i had a 6-8 channel amp could i just use that and run wire from the amp to all the speakers and then plug the amp into the aftermarket head unit? My other plan for that was to take the clock that is in place of the nav unit in the MDX models that don't have nav and replace the nav screen with that. Might look cleaner than a unused screen.
Also, did you just tap the video feed wire from the stock back up camera and run that to an RCA plug or something to make it work with this set up?

Shane, yes your amp replacement would work. We recommend a 6 channel because you can pair the rear speakers with the satellite speakers. The connections are different between navi models and non navi but I believe that swap is possible. If you get rid of the factory screen you will need to hook up a new backup camera solution. I have a theory of how others have made it work, they leave the factory nav in tact and just modify the dash kit. We just haven't had another MDX to test it on yet.
@@MobileMaxCarAudio Awesome, thanks for the response! I'll probably replace the camera with an aftermarket one so i can use the new head unit and not worry about the nav screen. And i'll probably have to replace all the speakers, which isn't a huge deal. If i get it all to work i will make sure to share any relevant information that would provide some assistance in the future.

Why you simple use you’re stock stereo with rca converter? You have to cut and find the cables for the speakers then basically you don’t have to use the stock amp? I got two taramps with rca output converter and sound loud and clear

The 2010-12 MDXs have different connections behind the radio. While the concept is the same this video is not directly applicable.
Great video with good information. But 30 minutes long? And two weeks to install? With tons of camera shake and commentary? The vehicle isn't that complicated.
Yeah camera shake and commentary are our specialties. I really hope your MDX doesn't have navigation.

yes but the factory amp powers 8 speakers in the car a normal radio can't handle that load to power all those speakers specially since they are mostly 2ohms.

That's pretty cool!. We focus on factory integration and develop products/ideas that easily integrate with the vehicle. It looks like they make a custom dash kit by just modifying the metra one. In order to feed video the the factory screens it wouldn't be hard just need a converter. If you really want to see some next level installs check the russian forums. Those guys have cracked the GA-NET+ protocol and can do all kinds of crazy integrations. Thanks for the information though I hope it helps someone!
