Every year for the past 26 years, the Edison Dye Lifetime achievement award has been presented to a deserving person whose accomplishments have made a difference to the sport of motocross. The ceremony is held in the Glen Helen Museum during halftime at the Dubya USA World Vet Motocross Championships. This year, Troy Lee has been selected to join the Walk of Fame at Glen Helen Raceway for changing the motocross world in both safety and creativity. After making his name as a helmet and racecar painter, Troy rose through the ranks leaving his signature across visors and paint schemes across the industry. Now with a race team under his wing, a global clothing brand, and brand recognition spread across all of motorsport, Troy's reputation as both an artist and leader has made a name that anyone recognizes. Congratulations, Troy, for being the newest member of the Glen Helen Walk of Fame, and recipient of the 2023 Edison Dye Motocross Lifetime Achievement Award!

Kinda surprised it's taken this long to honor Troy Lee. The man is definitely a major part of dirt bike, extreme sports and many forms of auto racing around the globe. An inspiration of cool in all of em. Congratulations to him and his success because it definitely is well earned

Always wanted a flat black Troy Lee Design helmet with a Crome visor!!! So proud when I could afford my first TLD freestyle motocross pants!! I used it for years, till it was nothing left😊😊😊
I remember seeing the Troy Lee aluminum cross top screws on a helmet at corona raceway on a Saturday night( maybe Friday night, im 62) in the early or mid 80s and thought they were so cool. On Monday, i rode my daily transportation, a Yamaha DT 175 from Upland California to Corona airport, about 20 miles, where Troy had his tiny hanger he did his painting at. I got there, and found out i forgot my wallet, Troy was bummed for me and gave me 4 of them for me and my buddy for our helmets and said pay me when i can. A few weeks latter i met up with him at Corona raceway and wanted to know how much i owed him. He said dont worry about it. Been a fan of him ever since.( i still have one of the original aluminium screws, the ones about the size of a nickel, along with his first Shoei MTB helmet with his mouth guard, making it the first full face downhill helmet. Have one of his first visors also on a Bell moto 3.

I painted helmets in the late 90's for myself and friends. Would have been cool to of seen this when I was a kid. I havent painted any helmets in over 20 years now

In 1992 I bought a plane white Arai helmet and had Troy paint it to match the colors of my riding gear. Had no idea about the design.
He created an awesome helmet that I still have today, sitting on a shelf as if it’s a trophy.

Troy Lee is one of the vertebrae in the spine of motocross history..Troy Lee and Thor, I wear nothing else
I raced against Troy around 1978 when he came to my home track of Mountain High near Fresno. He showed up with an all white Suzuki RM 125. Not sure which one of us finished better that day. All I remember was I was mesmerized by the cool looking white Suzuki. It was several years later after seeing his work that I realized he must have been the one who painted it white. Congratulations Troy on a great career!

I painted helmets and motorcycles in the 1970s. The local Honda dealer had me paint a few new mini-trails and XR75s. I was inspired by Von Dutch.
I put his design on my bell helmet when I was a kid.was awesome
Don’t ride dirt bikes anymore, but I still ride TLD helmets on my mountain bikes, and still have the same TLD duffel bag I’ve had for 20+ years.

I had friend that worked for Troy and one year at Indi Trade Show I was blessed to be able to tag along with them. Troy took his crew and I to Stefan Johannesen’s indoor cart track. Rick Johnson was there too. About 8 of us, on the track in those carts. Troy smoked everyone….guy can drive. Great guy and great memory.
Mate your mum is a total legend for buying the compressor, dad's are wired different and go for the stable approach, where mums seem to be able to see past that . Ya lucky bugger! Im nearly 50 and about to buy my third Troy Lee designs helmet . Thanks dude and thanks mum ❤️

About four years ago, we moved from Corona to Northern Idaho after living there for 25 years. When we left, I donated quite a few things to Salvation Army Goodwill ect. One of the few things I didn’t know where to take, was my kart racing gear. I had a Sparco suit, shoes, a rib belt/kidney belt and a Arai Kiwi painted helmet. I dropped it off at the front door of the retail shop, hoping it could be given to someone that could use it. Hopefully it wasn’t thrown away. Used to ride my mountain bike up Skyline, rode many of the single track trails built by the Troy Lee crew…..
Really great to see this! I admired his helmets in the 80's Thought they were the coolest eve,r made such an impact on me. Today I ride Mountainbikes and love wearing his gear and being part of it. Always loved his designs and colors. One day I want to visit his company and just be in awe of being there.
When I was a kid in the 90’s and saw Troy’s helmets on McGrath and others I was blown away. I would draw my own helmets during school hoping I could be like him.

im proud to support his brand his family and his legacy when I purchase troy lee designs. what an incredible person from every angle. as a child I was always intrigued by his cutting edge one off designs. his art is unmistakeable and really just never gets old. congrats to you troy for this much deserved award.
As a kid I made a sketch of my helmet design and send it to Troy Lee by mail. That was around 1990/92. Weeeeks later I received a quote back to Germany by mail and I could not believe it! It was a very fair price and he or they even replied on the design ideas. Unfortunately I did not have the money back then to send them finally the helmet...
Troy is a huge influence in the bicycle industry, a custom painted TLD lid is the pinnacle of anything 2 wheels.
Let's not forget about the iconic mohawks for the lids of the early 2000's (can't even find those suckers on ebay) , or the cars in the original Fast and the Furious.
Troy Lee is an absolute legend and it is so rad to see how down to earth he still is.

All my gear , moto and mountain biking has been TLD . You gotta know.
Getting MX and MTB crossover is huge. Fitness is so big these days and training on a mtb is a plus for all riders.

Troy will remember this. The year was 2020. Was racing REM Saturday MX at Glen Helen.Troy showed up to race and discovered he forgot his helmet at home. So he casually walks over to the pit right beside him, me and my bro, and asks us if we have an extra helmet he can borrow for his moto? I said no, because I was about to race and my bro gave him his helmet to use. You have to understand, the entire time Troy talked to us and acted like we were just old friends...so we did too. He brought the helmet back dirty and sweaty and I asked my friend if he got hooked up for that? Nope. He didn't ask and Troy didn't offer and that's EXACTLY how it should be. For that moment, Troy was just another moto guy needing a favor and we're always taking care of each other.
I had no clue who Troy Lee was until I tried one of TLD MTB jerseys and here I am 😂😂😂
