Glad you found the video helpful! The distance around all the 5 lakes is quite far, but renting bikes just for one lake, for example Kawaguchiko or Yamanakako, is a great way to see these spots at your own pace 😊

@@jamescc2010 I hope this reply doesn’t come too late. When I tried to book at the JR office the express train to kawaguchiko it was booked out. So I booked an express to Otsuki station (covered by JR), got off train and took a local train from Otsuki to Kawaguchiko (paid using IC). If you can manage to book all the way to kawaguchiko without having to get off the train, then payment for the non JR part of the trip is done on the train by staff is what I’m told
Update: I went to japan and used the highway bus from Tokyo to Fuji and I confirm that there is a ton of space for your luggage in the bus compartment.

I can't speak specifically here except to say you should be able to buy the specific section ticket in Shinjuku or rely on staff at the destination or a conductor on the train. Ticketing staff generally know enough English to help with purchases. If you can't obtain a ticket in Shinjuku, I would just get on the train and see what happens.

That's correct 😊 You can use the Fujikyuko Line between Otsuki and Kawaguchiko. You'll need to purchase tickets on the day or you can also use Suica. Just note that if you use a limited express train, you'll need to also purchase an express ticket at the station as this is not covered by Suica. It really depends on what you’d like to see. If getting a good view of Mt. Fuji is your top priority then you’ll probably have more luck at Kawaguchiko. If you’re not as fussed about Mt. Fuji and just want a nice mountain escape then Hakone is a good spot. The main thing about Hakone is there’s a lot of different transport - pirate ship, ropeway, train etc. - which can be a lot of fun but it’s quite a long, tiring day if you do all of it. Hi there! If you’re talking about climbing from the very bottom of the mountain, the Yoshida Trail starts at Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine. Otherwise, most climbers start from the 5th Station, halfway up the mountain. There’s no fee for climbing but there is a voluntary ¥1000 donation for the maintenance of the trail.
You can take a train from Hakone to Fuji via Hakone-Yumoto and Odawara. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Hakone to Fuji via Tomei Gotemba in around 2h 13m.

Seat reservation can be done at the station. Whether it's required depends on the popularity of the train at the time. I can't speak about this one because it's quite new. During the week probably OK. Weekends is a different matter.

Hi there! If you’re talking about climbing from the very bottom of the mountain, the Yoshida Trail starts at
Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine. Otherwise, most climbers start from the 5th Station, halfway up the mountain. There’s no fee for climbing but there is a voluntary ¥1000 donation for the maintenance of the trail.

How to go from hakone to mt fuji via pubic transportation
You can take a train from Hakone to Fuji via Hakone-Yumoto and Odawara. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Hakone to Fuji via Tomei Gotemba in around 2h 13m.
At least do some research and get the right coffee can instead of putting a Korean one 🤷🏻♀️
