Fuji reflected across the lake at Oishi Park or get a higher perspective at Mt. Fuji Panorama Ropeway, you're definitely in for a spectacular sight. You can actually hike up further past the pagoda, about 1 hour up and you get an amazing view of Mt. Fuji. I don't really see many tourists past the pagoda, usually locals only.

      On the red line sightseeing bus, from Kawaguchiko station to the end of the line at Oishi Park, it takes around 30 minutes. If you are getting off at stops along the way and doing some sightseeing then you could spend half a day to a whole day visiting the area.

    Thank you for this up-to-date video of Kawaguchiko! Could not have come at a better time as I am currently planning to host visiting family. Fujisan is on the top of their list. Could you please clarify a few things:
    1. What time did you leave Tokyo? What time did you arrive in Kawaguchiko?
    2. Did you use the bus or train? I did not hear in the video which transportation option you chose to use.
    3. Were there already many people when you started doing your sightseeing?
    4. Which site should be visited first to avoid larger crowds later in the morning/day?
    Thank you very much!

      @tokyocheapo  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hi there! Glad it was useful!
      We used the highway bus and left Shinjuku at 7:35am, arriving about 2 hours later. If you can visit Chureito Pagoda earlier in the morning, we'd recommend that. We visited all sights in the same order shown in the video, so we arrived at Chureito Pagoda around 10am. It was not too crowded when we arrived but it was getting busy by the time we left.
      There were quite a few tourists when we were there in mid January but because Kawaguchiko is a large area, it didn't feel too crowded at each location. Have a great trip!

I saw the bus brochure, it said the bus didn't stop near shibazakura site, but google map said that the bus stopped near shibazakura site(around 1.5km from the site. It added 1 more stop). Which one is right? Bcs if we can use blue line bus to arrive there, it means that I only need to buy the 2day bus ticket instead of buying a specific bus ticket to arrive at shibazakura(which costs about 2000 yen cmiiw)

    Thanks for sharing, where to buy the bundle pass of Ropeway, Boat Cruise & Bus?

    • @ret4kind
      @ret4kind หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They stopped selling them in March 2024. You now have to pay individual prices for each by actually going to the location and paying extra for it. I strongly recommend just buying the bus pass, and skipping the ropeway and boat cruise: they're tourist traps. I'd recommend walking near the park that cuts the local river leading into the lake for free. The park is called Kogamasao Memorial Park and you can get off at the Musical Forest Museum bus stop. Don't visit the Musical Forest Museum. It's not authentic to the area and simply there to overcharge tourists.

    Can you take the jr pass to chureito from shinjuku or from kawaguchiko station?

    • @tokyocheapo
      @tokyocheapo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately you won’t be able to use the JR Pass to cover the entire fare to Chureito. If travelling from Shinjuku, the JR Pass covers part of the fare with around a ¥1600 surcharge. If travelling from Kawaguchiko station, you cannot use the JR Pass and will need to pay the fare of around ¥300 for the non-express train.

      We completed this itinerary in one day - we arrived on the highway bus at 9am and left Kawaguchiko around 4pm. It's certainly doable in that timeframe but if you want to take it slower and relax then an overnight trip is also a good idea.

      Yes you can. When you arrive at the first set of stairs at 1:54, you can take those up to the first shrine and then from there take the pathway all the way to the pagoda or you might be able to go around to the left of the stairs and take the pathway up to the first shrine as well. Hope you enjoy your trip!

      Glad to hear you found it useful! You can catch a bus or train to Kawaguchiko Station as mentioned in the video but from there, you'll need to choose between the red, green or blue local sightseeing bus to get to your hotel. Alternatively, if your hotel is located somewhere near Fuji-Q or Shimoyoshida Station, you could get off there a stop earlier, rather than going all the way to Kawaguchiko Station.

    Hi from Canada. I booked a tour that includes the pagoda, lake Kawaguchik, Iyashi no Sato Nemba and oishi park. I haven't paid but I was wondering if it is worth the money or if it is better to use the bus you mentioned. The tour costs $252 Canadian dollars. Also, if I take the sightseeing bus and stop in one place, and after spending some time there, do I need to wait long for another bus to get to another place? Thanks

    • @tokyocheapo
      @tokyocheapo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends how simple you like things vs saving money - assuming the tour includes the trip to and from Tokyo, it’ll probably save you having to figure out bus times, bus stop locations etc, but sounds like it costs a lot more

      The places on your list are scattered on 2 bus lines and 1 train line. However, if you start early you should be able to hit them all on your own. But you'll need to be well prepared ahead of time:
      1) Lake Kawaguchiko & Oishi Park: Red line
      2) Iyashi no Sato Nemba: Green line
      3) Pagoda: Fujikyuko line
      The pass that covers both the Red & Green line is ~1500 yen, and includes a trip up the ropeway and a cruise in kawaguchiko (both of which I highly recommend). The green line runs less frequently so be sure to plan around the schedule if you want to do it yourself. Personally, I was't too impressed by Iyashi no Sato Nemba nor oishi park. And if pressed for time I'd choose the ropeway and the cruise over those 2 places.

    • @bewellenespanol

      @@CuriousVelociiraptor Thank you. My plan is to take the bus( I don't remember if it was bus or train...) to the pagoda first, because there is no point to get to kawaguchiko station and then go back to the pagoda. Then, the train to kawaguchiko station. From there, to pay for the package to take the ropeway and boat cruise and if we have time take the red line to oishi park. \How does that sound? Thanks for your help.

    • @CuriousVelociiraptor
      @CuriousVelociiraptor 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bewellenespanol That makes sense. For a day trip that's plenty already. Ropeway, cruise and Oishi Park are all on the red line and I bet you'll have time for them all. Oshino Hakkai is another interesting place but you likely won't have time for that.
      Enjoy! Mount Fuji is truly a majestic sight to behold.
