- One of the most frequent questions I get is how to clean this oven! It is small and tight to get in there and do some scrubbing. Being an air fryer, it also blows the grease all around the sides as it cooks. So I am finally getting my hands dirty and doing some scrubbing. Join me as we figure out together how to clean this little oven.

If you have watched any our other Ninja vids, you know we love our 'toaster oven'. But it is so much more and we just upgraded from the 8-in-1 (SP101) to the new 14-in-1 (SP350) which sports dual heat, a smart thermometer, and a sear crisp tray! And of course an increase in interior height. We use it for just about everything and invite you to learn and use yours more effectively.
Thank you for watching! I hope you found it useful and entertaining and will subscribe and watch future videos. I am creating these for you and appreciate the support. You just saying there was a door on the back of other models made me look. Hallelujah I had one. Thanks!
Glad I could help! And thanks for watching and commenting too!
what is the model for your which has door at the back
@@SairaSaadTheNikonGirl Ninja Foodi SP101 i think.
Thanks for the "how tos"; great demo! Our oven wasn't as challenging as yours; we don't use it that much. But we're going to be more vigilant about wiping it out after each use.
After watching your video, I went straight to the kitchen and cleaned my Ninja! Very motivating 😊. Thank you!
Haha! After doing it I was thinking I may never clean again. J/K. Glad it helped!
I made a tik tok about this, I have the exact same Airfryer and it looks like the day I bought it. I use the pink stuff miracle paste, a scrub mommy, and a tooth brush (now denture brush, to get into the fine details) and it works amazing ☺️ Definitely recommend!
I will try the pink stuff. Thanks for the tip. But as you saw, like new is not all that important to me. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Can you share the tiki tok? What do you use, a cloth, microfiber cloth?
Doesn’t that stuff specially say not to use it on anything that might contact or come near food?
@@ChrisDelChris yes it would be hard to rinse all of it off
IthnkmI found your tik toc, but I didn’t see the video you mention. Could you share the link?
You must only use your oven as a toaster mine is much more grease covered from cooking meat and chicken.
Ha! We don’t eat a lot of meat and when we do we tend to cover it. That might be why.
@LenBanks just a helpful tip I have found that spraying a little Goo Gone on the tray and then using an abrasive scrubber either plastic or steel wool it comes right off! Then you do need to follow up with some soap and water to remove the residue Left Behind from the goo gone, but let me tell you this has been a life-changer
@@jenniferdunbar9467 fascinating. I would never considered that as I think of goo gone for adhesive removal, not grease and food residue. Thanks for the idea.
@jenniferdunbar9467 I am pulling the trigger today on the Ninja Air Fryer today. Thanks for that tip. I have goo gone in my cabinet 😊❤!!
How you cook chicken and meat. I don’t know how to do it
Stand it on its backstand on a lower surface (such as a chair) which will make it easier to see and reach the back.
;)
Thank you, Len! While I've been emptying the crumb tray after each use, the overall cleaning of the entire unit had me stumped. Elbow grease with a steel wool pad will be my go-to! And the hydrogen peroxide to the exterior after a vinegar wipe off - brilliantly shiny and looking like new. Thanks for your interesting and informative presentation!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Sounds like you’re keeping it up!
Great video, thanks! Mines still new and after seeing the amount of work involved, I will try to stay on top of it. We’ll see if I stick to it. And I appreciate you avoiding chemicals. We get enough of that in our food these days. Wish the FDA would mimic Europe’s standards and force food manufacturers to stop pumping so many chemicals in our food!
Glad it helped! And thanks for the affirmation.
Thanks for doing all this, Len. I just unbox my unit and was wondering how to keep it clean. Your video was most helpful. Like your nice and mellow voice. All the best.
Thanks. My voice gets a lot of compliments. But I hope you like the tips even more. Thanks for joining us.
I use a damp magic eraser inside after messy cooking and while the oven is still warm. It helps keep the grease down.
I use a SOS pad to clean all the elements when stuff is stuck..
Seems to be the best option. We are in agreement. :)
Maybe lining the crumb tray with aluminum foil will help?
You can cover the crumb tray with foil, thats what I've done. Ninja official FAQs say you can use foil. That'll take care of 1 of the 6 sides - best of luck with the other 5! 😅
Yes you can use foil inside. However Ninja Customer Support FAQ specifically states it shouldn't be put on the crumb tray. Don't take my word for it. Look it up, for yourself.
Quote: Ninja Customer Support: "Yes. Use aluminum foil on the SearPlate or wire rack for easy cleaning after cooking. Make sure the aluminum is not touching the top heating elements. *Do not wrap the crumb tray in aluminum foil* ."
Thank you so much Len, this was very helpful. My Ninja looked just like yours and I share your sentiments on cleaning frequency as well as the results.😆 I just want improvement and you showed exactly how to achieve that. Really appreciate it!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for commenting!
Hello, thanks I just bought one from Costco and after watching your video it's going back! I've only toasted bread so far. I just don't need the mess!
Oh, I'm sorry you feel that way. We REALLY LOVE OURS!!! The mess is worth it to us.
Greetings
I just purchased this oven and prior to using it, I'm going to return it immediately because of the complex cleaning issues.
I'd rather get this oven with backside trap door.
I’m sorry to hear that. The sear plate is so far superior and huge benefit to my preferences. Please think that through.
Thank you so much Len! It was hard work. I tried to clean mine with Barkeeper’s friend and Easy off, it left some discoloration on the inner frame. The tray I had to replace and it wasn’t expensive, they gave me some discount too. I ended up using a parchment paper on the tray and on the baking griddle at all times, it doesn’t affect quality of cooking, but it is much easier for me to replace parchment paper sheets than clean the entire thing. And periodically I just remove crumbs because my husband also likes bagels. It works for us. Next time I definitely will try Mister clean and SOS too. Thanks again, great video ❤️!
Yeah the crumb tray I thinks is only $9. I’m gonna replace ours too. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for suggesting the parchment paper!! I was looking for a solution. Mine is brand new and I used it first time today and immediately could foresee the cleaning issue
Could you place a Reynolds’s wrap over the crumb tray..
Thank you, Len. I didn’t realize when I bought this machine how difficult it would be to clean, what was I thinking or not thinking? Ours looks like yours and I only cooked meat in it a few times because of the splatter on the inside! Not sure I am as committed as you but I shall give it a try, off to buy SOS Brillo pads! Thank you!
Glad I could help! If you've watched a number of my videos, you know I am not so committed to cleaning either. I have no desire to keep it new looking. LOL. To each his own. Good luck with the steel wool.
Great video. What I've always done in the past, with all of my toaster oven crumb trays is cover the top of them with aluminum foil. When they are soiled, just replace the foil. Also, I have tried to clean inside of my oven and no luck there. I will have to just use the SOS pad.
Thanks. Do the foil at your own risk. ;). The instructions specifically say not to. Not sure why. But they do.
Great point. I do the same with my toaster oven. Putting foil on the crumb tray makes it much easier to clean.
@@MrAndMrsBanks The foil reflects heat back onto the heating elements. Depending on the components used to make the elements, it can damage the rods, thus shortening the life of the toaster. And, the excess reflected heat can cause a fire in some circumstances. How much reflected heat can parchment paper take before it ignites? Or, cooking oil, for example?
I keep foil on my crumb tray from day 1 (shinny side up) and just change it when it gets dirty.
I have the air fryer model, yesterday I spent and hour with 4 or 5 SOS pads to get some really bad grease at the back, worked quite well, didn’t get every bit off but it is certainly a lot better
yeah, I think just a bit of elbow grease, as they say, is what it takes. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yeah, I think it just takes some elbow grease as they say. Thanks for watching and commenting!
When you turn the oven up to 500° all you did was bake everything on a lot more permanent. What you should’ve done is put a tray of water and maybe do the same temperature and leave it in there for about 12:30 hour you’ll find that it will all just break down and then you can clean it up.
I wonder how spraying vinegar water mixture in and heating it for a bit would work. That's how we used to clean our microwaves in the restaurant
Thanks for your efforts. I guess I will need to buy some SOS pads. I already use Powerwash and Barkeeper's Friend on the trays. For the stainless steel exterior, if you use a very small amount of olive oil on a paper towel, it shines things up nicely without chemicals.
Thanks for the comments. Yes I’ve done olive oil too. Works well.
I wear a head lamp when I clean mine but still have the same struggles with getting it clean. 😂
that’s creative, certainly helps to see what you can't get out. ;)
Dude, yours is so clean compared to mine. I think the bottom of my toaster is worse than that. My kids put everything in there. I’m using Easy Off on mine.
good luck.
Thank you for making this video! I’ve been putting off cleaning mine for a while because of all the baked on and hard to reach gunk. But today, I put cheese on an everything bagel and it dripped everywhere! I figured I’d bite the bullet lol
It’s all about the ba…gels! Lol. They’ll get you every time.
thank you so much ! i shall get the smaller one next week and I doubt I would have ordered it after watching you doing this brutal work ! Less power consumption seemed to me to be progress for the environment. Considering the use of all these chemical clubs, this will be my last oven. From today's perspective, I will consider cleaning it after each use. In any case, I'm taking this seriously. great work ❗️❗️
Glad I could help! Hope it works well for you. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Get a parchament tray for the onion bagels. Or put them in a regular toaster.
hey, lots of comments on one video. thanks for watching and engaging! The nature of toasting is that the heat elements are exposed to both sides - in my estimation. So I wouldn't want to use something under the bagel. But cleaning out the crumb tray is not unreasonable. ;)
I got a silicone thin mat for the base tray. It’s not perfect but helps. I wash the trays after every use but not too fussy about the inside usually wipe it over with a cloth every now and then.
Yeah, I could put my mat on the tray. Good idea. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Magic sponge for me might be the way to go. I've been testing out baking soda as a paste; Koh cleaner and they worked to varying degrees however not entirely. So I had a brainwave. I use denture tabs to clean a range of items. What I found was disolve 3 denture tabs in a sink of hot water and place the crumb tray into the water for around 2-3 hours and then (depending on the size of your sink) turn the crumb tray around for another 2-3 hours.
Then wipe off and whalla the crumb tray comes up like brand new.
My challenge is how to get the inside of the oven cleaner (not bad however if I don't get the grease grime off now it will be harder to clean later). So what I've done is filled a bowl of water from the sink of water with the denture tab and wipe this down - with varying degree of success. So next step has been to soak a chux wipe into the denture tab water and stick this to the sections of the oven where the most grease grime is.
Will let you know how this works. However for the grease grime on the crumb tray it brought the tray up like brand new. Hope this assists.
(PS: If you have those oven mats which gets grease and grime on. Depending on how baked in the grime is I again used the same steps as above and Koh definitely helped with a good scrubbing brush. Am also going to place this into the sink of denture tabs water and see whether it lifts the remaining grime off the mat.
Great tip, thanks. I will try that. thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for your video! SOS pads seem to be the star for cleaning a lot of kitchen bakeware. BTW, lemon oil is excellent for cleaning outer stainless steel surfaces. Shines it up like new.
Yes, steel wool is amazing. I used it all the time as a kid but stopped over the years with the rise of non-stick cookware. But I am bringing it back to my arsenal of cleaning. And yes, the light oil on the outside works well. I have used olive, but lemon sounds nicer.
Dors it leave an oily residue? Seems like it would.
Thank you for this video. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this, as well as your honestly. You certainly saved me at least 2 hours and a lot of disappointment. The Foodi oven is a monstrosity to clean unfortunately. Thankfully I don't tip my up, but that's a good tip, to remove the crumbs before doing so! Thank you
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching and commenting!
When I got mine I cleaned it out after every use and it still cakes on. They do say not to use course cleaning items that will scratch it like brilo pads but that's all I found too work so I'm gonna keep doing it till the unit dies and then I'll be avoiding the ninja brand from the on unless they make them easy to clean like the 12 in 1 pot that just wipes right up.
Oh, wouldn't that be great if the interior was a non-stick surface? I use this far more as an oven than air fryer, so I don't really want to get a different type of appliance. But the cleaning part of it is very difficult.
I think at video minute, 11:19 that is perfectly fine. Pristine is not possible. I like it pristine but I know when I'm being ridiculous. You did a wonderful job and I think it's still a great piece of equipment. Thank you for the work you've put into this. Wait...Stainless steel has a grain?
Thanks, I agree pristine is a fantasy. lol. So as for grain, yes. Not on all cases for example, flatware. That is a high polish. But appliances seem to be done in a way that has a fine linear grain and your final was and wipe down should go with the grain for a better appearance. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
I like this oven for what it does but it might be the hardest cooking appliance I’ve ever tried to clean and I makes me wish I bought something else. Every other flip up model has a removable bottom except for this one that us suckers bought apparently.
Support even apologized to me for the design but still couldn’t offer any decent suggestions on how to clean as the manual only details cleaning the OUTSIDE of the unit.
Sorry the cleaning has soured your experience. As you saw on the video my threshold isn’t there so I put up with it being a bit less clean. ;). Glad you watched and commented!
Hi Len, thank you for this videos.
My friend has food on the heating elements and I cannot use it without it going up in SMOKE!
Can you help please 🙏
Well they will just need to clean them VERY carefully. Let them know to begin using the trays or liners under food that would drop onto them in the future. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Here's an excellent cleaning tip for many items. It might work for the crumb tray, but don't know about in the oven.
In a shallow dish, lay your crumb tray, ad boiling water to JUST cover it and then sprinkle Cream of Tartar liberally. Swirl a bit, but make sure the CoT ends up ON the tray. Allow to cool completely. Even to evaporate enough so the crumb tray top is dry. Then scrub with warm water and whatever scrubber tickles your fancy.
Great tip! Thanks
@@MrAndMrsBanks Cream of Tartar is an amazing, non-toxic cleaner. I use it all the time to great effect.
I even make cakes in that small version with the tray I bought which is a deep tray, the bad thing is the cleaning but after a year it still works super well, chicken, bread, pizza, lasagna And I've even made cakes there.
yes, I find it, for my small family, to be a near oven replacement as it can handle most things for us. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Norwex cleaning paste and microfiber towel worked great! Not perfect but took grease off!
Good to know! Thanks!
Wow! Your hard work paid off!
Yes! Thank you!
Yea, you have to clean it after every use and not use it to bake really greasy meals. I use my oven for chicken etc but the ninja for reheating baked goods or making French fries. I applaud your effort. lol. I was rooting for you and for it to look brand new when you finished 😂
lol. Thanks for the support! ;)
I was just about to try cleaning mine. It has over a years worth of built up gunk and I'm not looking forward to it. You've inspired me. I was most concerned about getting the glass clean but i love your tip about a magic eraser.
I was thinking about cooking a small bowl of vinegar for 10 or 15 minutes like cleaning a microwave. Any thoughts?
Update! I cleaned the glass with a magic eraser and it worked perfect. For the inside I used a Scrub Buddies stainless steel scrubber. It worked like magic and you don't get those steel slivers you get from brillo pads. I highly recommend. Mine did have the back door so I'm sure it was infinitely easier but the scrubber will work the same I'm sure
Never heard of the vinegar thing but it couldn’t hurt. I hope it goes well for you.
@@dougwallace457thanks for the tips! Scrub buddies it is!
Nice video but... Can you link those bagels??? 🥰
Link? They are a local bakery item from Charleston Bakery and Deli. So legit and good
Do you get heavy smoke when you cook meat in air fryer? I get enormous amount of smoke for example when I air fry chicken wings ( not frozen). Do you use any liners?
I do not get much smoke. Do you keep the tray in under the basket? If not the drippings would be falling directly on the heating elements and that would cause a lot of smoke. If you do have the tray in, then I am not sure why this happens. Others have commented they have this issue as well.
I do! Doesn't help that the kids cook brauts in there. Smoke alarm goes off every time we use the thing. Good luck!
Why the heck would they take out that back door!!?? That's awful! I picked up the one with the back door today at a Goodwill and can't wait to use it. Thanks for your recipe videos! Oh - would you think aluminum foil would do well in the crumb tray?
Hi! I have no idea why they would remove the door. It was so useful. As for the foil, the manual says not to and I am not sure why, but am guessing they are concerned it might impede or touch the heating element if not put on well. Just a guess. Thanks for watching my videos!
@@MrAndMrsBanks I did suspect it was too close; thanks. Thanks for the tip on the 12x12 parchment; I followed your link and ordered from amazon. Been binging a bunch of your videos! Great tips and ideas.
Thanks for the purchase! and BINGE AWAY! :) @@AccioPadfoot12
Dryer sheets and dawn in hot water will take that right off.
Love my ninja but I always thought that anything abrasive was not good. Will try this.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Yeah also not a fan of scratching things. I wouldn’t use on the outside but inside it seemed to be fine.
Got mine about 8 months ago and used to clean it very often, however, that became very tedious so it is now greasy at the sides, the top and the back, which is why I am looking at this video as the grease does not wipe off easily. I guess I have to start scrubbing with SOS pads. Luckily since the beginning I lined the drip tray with aluminium foil and it remain as it was when I bought it. Too bad this version does not open at the back.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I couldn’t imagine cleaning often. Lol. But yes it must be done eventually. ;). I’m not sure why, but ninja says not to use foil on the crumb tray. So just be aware and cautious.
Thank you for posting-I just purchased mine. The instructions say NOT to put aluminum foil on the bottom of the tray. I wondered if that was a silly instruction. I will be putting aluminum foil on my fray. Thankfully I did make sure I purchased the model with the back door opening. Len’s hands are much stronger than mine. I REALLY appreciate this video! Thank you Len!
I put an oven liner sheet on the bottom. Food or grease that falls on it wipes right off.
I’ll look into it. The user manual does say not to cover the crumb tray, however.
@@MrAndMrsBanksleave the sear plate in and lay parchment paper or aluminum foil on the plate and/or rack. Helps a ton with keeping the clean up to a minimum
I’m concerned with the fan inside the vents which must be greasy, how to get inside three??
I don't think you can. That said, it likely is not AS greasy as you might think. Just guessing here, but the fan blows into the oven pushing the splatter away from it instead of pulling the grease into the fan. Again, guessing.
A couple of things I've found helpful: amonia/water solution (1 part amonia to two and a half parts water) and oven cleaner.
The former is a spray bottle. Spray it on and wipe off after 2 minutes. It works on grease very quickly, but you will need to wipe down with a Dawn and water solution after.
Easy Off on my ceramic tray wirk very well.
And wipe it down after every use. It keeps the crusties and stickies at bay.
Thanks for the tips!
@@MrAndMrsBanks Thanks for this tip. I use 1/2 cup of ammonia in a sealed plastic bag oven night for my old oven racks. They are easy to wipe clean in the morning. I've thought about doing the same for the Ninga AF oven. I was concerned if the a ammonia would harm the stainless steel.
I love my Ninja but the struggle is real for cleaning it 😅 I'm not sure it's worth it. I do have the version with the back opening so that's nice.
As I said in the video, my bar is low on the need to clean it fully and I also guess I don’t make a lot of foods that spatter much. So the need isn’t as great. Each of us has a different approach. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I think I’m gonna try sitting a pan of vinegar in there and boiling it. Kinda like cleaning a microwave oven and then try the steel wool or magic eraser. I’m pretty sure you could’ve soaked the pan in the bottom of the oven in vinegar and just wiped most of that stuff out… But idk, I’m about to go attempt mine too…😅
Hope that works for you. The bottom tray thing is just baked on ruined. Noting will help it. lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@MrAndMrsBanks yep, I learned that the hard way yesterday… I couldn’t believe vinegar wouldn’t loosen it up…😳 Vinegar will literally take mill scale and rust off of steel even paint if you leave it in there for a couple days… I couldn’t believe it literally didn’t even make a difference. I just used steel wool and elbow grease…😄 Oh yeah, you can spray WD40 on a paper towel and make the outside look like brand new. Just don’t use it on the inside. You don’t have to use much either.
Es mucho más recomendable la version 13/14 in 1 o la version 8 in 1? Hace mucha diferencia?
Hello. I did a video review of both of them. I prefer the newer model with sear plate but both are good. You need to decide what’s important to you.
We have the flip up Ninja Air Fryer.
Makes fantastic food.
Cleaning it sucks ass.
It’s a piece of Sheit.
Ninja should take these all back at full value.
It’s a disposable item every year because you cannot get it clean.
It is difficult to be sure. Not certain I would consider it disposable though. LOL. But I also as said in the video don't have an expectation it should be 'like-new' clean all the time.
I tend to agree with you. I like the way it cooks, but mine is a baked on greasy nightmare! There is no way to cook any kind of meat in it without the grease splattering everywhere. And mine leaks the grease out onto the countertop, even without flipping it up. I am sure that there is grease between the inside wall of the oven and the outer shell also. I am going to try to clean it and then just use it for toasting and /or baking. I bought the Ninja Foodi 7-in-1 FlexBasket Air Fryer with 11-qt MegaZone to use when cooking meat since it has the nonstick coated drawer. It should be MUCH easier to clean.
I’m shook that you and Lady Di don’t wipe it out every time. 😂 I would think you would. No judgment, just surprised. Haha. Love watching your videos. 😃
Pretty sure you're joking ;) But yeah, no intention of doing that every time. LOL. Thanks for watching!!!
Try Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser on the tray
I did. Didn’t work. Just gonna replace it.
I have one and cleaned it daily but it still got baked on grease which won’t come off. I’ve replaced trays cause it got too much. I love how it cooks but would never buy another one because it’s too hard to clean.
I still think I would buy one again because of the form factor. But I understand. Hey thanks for the watch and comment!
you neeeed a scrub daddy, it’s a life changing cleaning sponge!
Ha! I’ve heard that. I may have to get one. Thanks.
But the manual says not to use abrasive cleaners...doesn't that mean brillo pads also?
I imagine it could include that. I am not rubbing so hard as to scratch up the metal. Was only cutting the built up grime. But it just adds to the reality these things are a challenge to keep clean. Thanks for the watch and comment!
great video. yes, clean after every use!! not me lol ok anyways, mine was like yours and YES EBLOW GREASE IS THE ANSWER i used steel wool pads coarse 2 ( no chemicals, just plain) .. it came out alot better than before, mine was all brown inside
lol. Not me either. ;). Hey thanks for watching and commenting!
So mine isn’t super dirty but my heating elements got dirty. My hubby put wings in and they dripped all over the heating elements. Any advice for that? I scrubbed it a bit with a damp towel but idk what else to do.
I try never to touch them so honestly no idea. But for future reference put black tray in under rack or basket when dealing with items that would drip
I am wondering the same. I forgot to put the pan under the rack and grease dripped onto the cooking element 😭
There are silicone sheets to cover the bottom tray.
ha! yes, that would work. I already have them and recommend them in other videos. Thanks.
The light when out in ours. Is there a way to replace the bulb?
I have not tried or even looked. I would think it uses a standard option. However, the Ninja site doesn’t sell one in the parts and accessories
Is there air filter in there? Seen clips talk about that for other models
I don't believe there is. There is a fan and vents, but no door to open and replace a filter.
What type of SOS pad did you use? And did you have to wet it first?
Hi. Thanks for asking. Actual sos and yes wet them first to activate the soap.
Thinking those high temp are hard on it.
lol, well it is an oven. ;)
Baking soda works good to, just pick this oven up yesterday, I paid 299.99 for this machine, oh Sharky should of engineered this machine in a better way for their customers or come up with a non hazard cancer causing cleaner spray on, I should just take it back and exchange it for the Ninja Foodi Smart XL Pro Air Oven and spend the extra 30.00 dollars, I'm a new subscriber I like your spirit good spirit carrier are god people.
Thanks. If you just want the air fry feature than yes trade it. But as you can see on my other videos I use many other features mostly.
Nah now. The front 3 or 4 inches of mine is pretty clean too. I can reach that. This isn't the model I have. It's two years old, I'm going to have to buy a new one LOL I can't take it.
well sorry that is the conclusion you feel you have to come to. But yeah, not easy to clean. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I just got one of these, some grease spilled on the bottom heating bulbs, any thoughts on how to clean this? can I remove the metal cover on them?
I honestly don't know if they can be removed. Please be cautious if you proceed. It seems to me the elements are some form of glass and I would hate to see them break or worse explode. I personally would not even attempt this. Just take the oven into a space with good ventilation and crank up the heat to burn off whatever spilled as best you can. And just in case you didn’t do this, in the future use the sear plate as a drip tray when cooking on the middle rack. That will help to prevent spill getting on the bottom elements.
I air fry chicken thighs once a week & attempt a good wipedown as the fat splatters all over the inside. After several uses air frying chicken, a lot of rendered fat is draining out of the unit on the side the controls are on in front as well as draining from the right rear corner where the pivot henge to flip the unit up for storage. I assume the internal fan is drawing in the fat. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a "fat collector" or a trap door behind the control panel. Anyone else have this problem?
I have not heard of this and don't do that much chicken frying like this, so have not experienced it either. I hope someone else will confirm this for you.
Yes, did you figure anything out?
Thank you sir ! Very helpful
Most welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting
Good Job 👍🏻
Thanks!
Respectfully…you are very wordy. “Economy of words” is your best friend
Respectfully...I am who I am. ;) That said, always room for improvement. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I've seen videos where the bottom opens to clean?
There is an older model that did open on the back/bottom. You can see each model on my "Best Toaster Oven" and "Best Toaster Oven Got Better" Videos. Thanks for watch and comment!
Did anyone have any luck with cleaning the mesh tray. I usually airfry for my kid and it builds so fast. I tried most of the products mentioned here and a steamer and good ol elbow grease 💪 no luck
I don't usually have problems with that. I run it through the dishwasher and sometimes give it a once over with a soft brush. Nothing seems to stick to mine.
This video is a lesson in why it is important to stay on top of it. These little ovens are handy but need cleaning as recommended, okay, maybe not everytime but at least once a week. The crumb trays are easy to clean after every use so why let them get encrusted?
Not gonna argue. That said, I just can't be bothered with cleaning that often. ;) Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
I’ve stayed on top of it to no avail and multiple people have said the same 😩
I wonder if you can hot steam clean it. 🤔
Some have mentioned it, but I think it has been unsuccessful. If you give it a try and it works, let us all know. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I tried cleaning it all these ways, then I flipped it and there was the door that opened it completely giving me access!
yes, the older model has the door, but the new one I am showing in the video does not. I'm sure we are ALL wondering why they changed the design.
Next time try “magic erasers” from the Dollar Tree. They have a sponge on one side so they don’t disintegrate like the real ones
Oh thanks! That is good to know.
Thanks for your video. I'm looking for how to clean the heating element. Any advice?
The metal cover in the bottom you could gently deal with that but I’d be VERY cautious in the glass rods. I personally would not touch it. Good luck. Be careful
@@MrAndMrsBanks Thanks. I guess I'll have to leave the metal covers stay dirty. UGH!
Looking for the same information about cleaning the heating element covers, did you happen to find any information out? Thanks in advance.
how do you clean the bottom heating element btw?
I personally try to avoid the elements as they seem to be made with glass. I'm concerned with them shattering if I touch them. My approach has been that they get so hot everything burns off of them and they 'clean themselves' any way. Your experience may vary, but that is my approach. Hope that helps.
Thanks appreciate your time
You bet. Appreciate the watch and comment.
where do you buy the crumb tray replacement?
I think it is only sold on Ninja's site: www.ninjakitchen.com/
EasyOff was always my go to...
We use that on the big oven, but as I said in the video, because of it size and difficulty rinsing, we were concerned. And it also seems trends are moving in ways to avoid harsh chemicals. But I did try it on the crumb tray and it just about ate the finish off. LOL
Whoa!! Thank you!!!!
You're welcome!!
I used soap and water plus Sos pads to clean inside and it worked fine. It’s a crappy design and you obviously need to use more than soap and water to clean it. Really disappointing. Thanks for putting this video together.
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Do the heating elements come out for cleaning?
I didn’t see that and don’t believe they do. Ninja doesn’t state they do either.
No.
:-(
Cleaning this is a nightmare.
Mine has the back door and it still sucks and smells even after 2 + hour cleaning.
how long did you let it cool down before you started scrubbing
Fully and unplugged. I know some oven cleaners use heat to activate, but this is just a small appliance and I wouldn't want to risk burns or electrocution.
Thanks for sharing😊
My pleasure 😊 thanks for watching and commenting!
Every use? Wow. I don’t have that much concern. ;)
No one answers my question as to how to open the back door on my model?
Hi. I’m happy to answer your question. Only the first model, the 8 in 1 has the back door and it has a black bump out in the top middle of it that has a small button. All other models had the door feature removed. The button is fairly obvious so I suspect you don’t have that model. Hope that helped.
Try Oil Eaters spray.
Hmm, just looked at their site. No mention of inside an oven, but certainly a lot of similar uses mentioned. Sounds intriguing. Thanks. Have you used it in an oven, specifically the Ninja?
A quick wipe over after each use eliminates a major cleaning job.
Not gonna argue, BUT also not realistic for many of us as our personalities and time don't prioritize that action. ;) Thanks for commenting and watching!!!
Thanks
Happy weekend
You too! :)
why you didn't turn it on?
Not sure what you mean? After I cleaned it? I just didn’t see the need I guess. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I wasn’t aware that mr clean erasers had chemicals in them. I thought they were just foam.
From google: Magic Erasers are made from melamine foam, using a compound called formaldehyde-melamine-sodium bisulfite copolymer.
SOS pads works
Yes they do. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Steamer?
didn't try that, but I think it still would need some scrubbing.
I tried the Bissell steamer and it didn't work even with the scrub brush.
@@mizfizwiz wow, I wouldn't have thought of that.
to run that Ninja at full speed for 3 hours the electric bill will give you a stroke , bet it would be cheaper just buying a new oven lol
I have not noticed that to be the case, but then I don't know how to measure the specific amount used by individual appliances. But I do find it hard to believe it is more than a full-size oven.
@@MrAndMrsBanks Hi Len , do you see a huge difference in the pizza between the sp101 and the sp350 ???
@@Anne6621 I never made scratch pizza in the 101 as the pan is not flat. The sear plate makes all the difference for a number of items. One could do a pizza stone or something in the older model but would need to preheat it well. That should be equivalent I think.
Cover that crumb tray with foil.
That does get suggested in the comments a lot and I can’t see the problem in it but the ninja user guide says not to. ;). Thanks for watching and commenting.
Isn't that a fire hazard??
I have the larger version of this and it’s just as much a nightmare to clean. Easier to get your hands into it but much more surface area. ninja air fryers work well, but they are very un user friendly when it comes to cleaning. They need to re-design the interior.
Good to know! Thanks!
What is the vertical space in your oven? Please!!!!!! 🙏 from the lowest food could go to the highest food could go?
@@suran396 I have videos showing the dimensions of the flip up version. The comment above is a completely different model and will be more of a counter top oven that takes up more counter space
@@MrAndMrsBanks ok, thanks! We have already purchased the Ninja Flex Double Oven, so, counter space was already OK. But it was a close tie with the flip up. There were 2 main tie breakers, the main one being the cooking space (height) of the Flex was 5" and the Flip was 4" and that makes a difference! But I was also unable to find a height of the Flip Tall anywhere, so I am still curious. Thank you!
@@suran396 ahh. Yes. I have the review videos. But it also is determined by what rack you use. Please watch those. ;)
