    Looking at replacing 4 fans, and saw some smart Hunter Fans on clearance. My thought was to order the Hunter Universal Fan-Light Wall Control (Receiver Not Included) - 99815 from their website to replace the physical light switch itself. That appears to be a wired IR remote (paired), just like the remote (paired) that comes with it. That way you can use the Hunter app, smart home app, IR remote, or wall plate "remote." Did you happen to look into that as a solution, or was that also not something that worked. Also concerned with making it dummy proof for anyone who is in the room. Don't like people breaking my routines, and neither does Miss G.

    Disney is NOT disability friendly anymore. They have changed ALL the DAS requirements to for Autism or spectrum only now. I used to go to the parks all the time with my sister and with our ECVs but NO longer 😢

    • @MrAndMrsBanks
      @MrAndMrsBanks 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We were just there and you are correct the official DAS system has been severely modified. But they still do well to accommodated ECVs. It depends on the ride. Some rides they make you transfer to a wheel chair they provide as they are concerned if an emergency happened one could not turn back around to evacuate. If you don't have someone in your party who is able to push, they have told us they will. Some rides, they let you come in through the exit of the ride. So no significant change. There has been a lot of negative responses to the Das changes but again the actual impact for scooter users remains accommodating. So I hope you will give it a try again.

      I could, but I don't want to do anything that wouldn't make sense to next owners. Don't plan to move anytime, but all changes keep that in mind. I replaced all my switches with the decora style. Mostly smart throughout the house, but for these fans, just used standard ones and then put some magnet covers over them so they don't accidentally get turned off. It works.

    Sorry but the turning the wall switch off is a lame problem. Using clear tape is a reasonable solution. Does Hunter have a remote wall switch? If they do its definitely your solution. Did you try connecting to Alexa? Apple is not known for spending resources on their apps! I tried connecting my lights to Apple Home and ran into the same issues youre having with multiple fans. Also, I stopped using Apple Home due to it losing connections to several different utilities. Hunter has its own phone app how is that working? You have to diverse if you’re serious about having a Smart Home!

    • @MrAndMrsBanks
      @MrAndMrsBanks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, Apple home works just fine and the fans also are now working well too. And you are right that in all of life, making sure light switches remain on is not a big deal. BUT as for a smart home product, that is not so smart of a design. Choosing where the smart features reside is a filter I didn't investigate well enough. Smart switches and dumb fan is a far better set up.

    • @richardb7093
      @richardb7093 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MrAndMrsBanks once again, as others have advised, its all about the power control switch! You’re given 3 options but the one you’re looking has to be a wall remote switch. Minka Aire has one and it works great (unfortunately the loud hum of fan was a deal breaker). The switch allows the fan to be off yet still can still be remotely controlled.

    • @MrAndMrsBanks
      @MrAndMrsBanks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardb7093 Hey thanks for watching and engaging. I'm not sure we are all that far off on our conclusions. However, this is a review of the Hunter smart fan. Having a different brand fan is not my solution as I already had purchased this one. So I have to figure out the best way to use this one. And so, the light switches are left on at all times (or I need to hard wire them and put a plate over the boxes). If I had to do it all over again I would get the Lutron Caseta switches and a dumb fan. The Caseta switch is in effect, as you state, a wall remote, however, unlike a remote it can be added to the voice activation of any version of a smart home. So again, unless I am missing something, we are essentially saying the same thing. yes?

    • @richardb7093
      @richardb7093 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MrAndMrsBanks Nothing is perfect. The Caseta requires a hub and the Hunter wall switch remote requires a battery. A battery!! Should win the WTF Design award…Is the fan quite? Does it meet your fanning requirements? As of now its my 1st choice after installing and returning 2 MenkaAires due to noise..

    • @MrAndMrsBanks
      @MrAndMrsBanks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardb7093 Hey! I feel the fans are quiet. I like it well enough and happy with the fan itself aside from the smart home concerns. But nothing is perfectly without the 'white noise' and we like that. So you might feel otherwise.
