Thanks for the comment, yep; I am part of the generation who thinks that there is no need to buy full set of tools for one time use only. Then you have to improvise.
Glad you like them! I am part of the generation who dont find reasonable to buy full set of tools for just one time use only. I rather spend my budget on car itself...although, with proper tools work tends to be more satisfying...
Hello from Sweden 🙂 Really great videos, both high level of video editing, and metal shaping on the panels you make. Really impressive. Im myself is fixing an Opel Kadett City -77 with quite alot of rust repairs. Good luck with the rest of the renovation of the GT, I am going to enjoy to keep on following your progress.
Thank you very much for your comment, and I'm glad that you appreciate the editing style. I wanted to do it somewhat different and good to hear that someone find it entertaining, and therefore worth the effort.
Fantastic update...love the stop-motion animation too. Many hundreds of hours in this no doubt...not many watching will realise how much time this gobbles up...all looks so quick on youtube! I'm rebuilding a 50yo caravan from the chassis up and I'm at least 1000 hours in with so far to go. Anyway, keep it coming, reckon your numbers will really take off soon...
The car body was put together from a surprisingly high number of small panels. I think this is due to the fact the it was produced by a French company in a small series style. You are doing a great job restoring the car and filming the whole process.
Thanks for comment. Yes, I have notices this same. With very small production numbers, there were no possibility to make press molds for complete panels....Lot of factory welding, lot of small panels, lot of places where rust can have a feast.
Kiitos kommentista. Tämä on minun toinen projekti tähän ikään. Itsekin katselin vuosia toisten projekteja TH-camsta kunnes pelkkä katselu ei enää riittänyt...Projektia kehiin vaan...
Wow, incredible work for the tools you have available. Very impressed with your metal work and welding. BTW, by the time you are done, do you think there will be any panel on the car that does not need some form of metal work😇? Good choice on being safe about possible asbestos, but please note that regular paint masks are not rated asbestos safe, even the cartridge type. I believe you can get the correct cartridges for a typical cartridge type mask. Looking forward to following this build to completion. I have always thought the Opel GT was one of the prettiest cars of its time and can still remember the first time I saw one. Reminded me of a mini-Corvette. It is a shame they didn't sell more of them.
Oh dear, no. My welding is very poor. I get the seam done solid, but they look like seagull poop. And yes, I genuinely think that there is not a single panel that is good as they are...And regarding asbestos; I'm fully aware of limitations of reqular mask, but I lived my childhood in 80´s where we built tree houses with all the scrap material we found. I got my lifetime dose in those days, so if this GT is going to take me down, it is meant to be. Still melting and scooping and wet sanding is better than grinding it with angle grinder.
Grand job, you remind me of me👍👍👍 mind you, it’s a lot easier than my day when we had to gas weld it all.
Thanks for your comment, appreciated. Oh surely yes, but here comes the respect for those who did it all manually !!!
this is one of the best jobs that I`ve seen
Bit of a overstatement. But appreciated !!
All admiration , respect, and standing ovation, to the master craftsman. Thanks
A major overstatement... but compliment taken !! Thanks for your comments !!
beautiful car and better job
Thanks for the comment... GT is a beauty !!
i like the use of the tow ball to make a dimple die wished i'd thought of that when i needed one
have to remember it for next time i need one thanks 😉

I agree, this is an ingenious improvisation I have noted for possible future use.
Really enjoying your work. Especially the stop motion parts. :)
Glad you like them! Also fun to make ...
When you took this all apart I couldn't see how it was ever going to go back together, but you're doing it! Well done :)
Well, join the club....Neither did I
very good job
Thanks for comment. Appreciated.
Was viel Arbeit!
Na ja, vielleicht etwas größer als ich erwartet hatte
Super!👏

Unreal amount of skilled work. Would love, at the end, to know how many hours you will have put into the car's restoration.
Thank you for a comment. Still very much rookie level, but thanks. Yes, I have no idea what will be the final hour count.
@@GT1900garage "Rookie" is beyond modest...you would have been a coach builder if working in the 1930's and 40's...
👍👍👍
Thanks for your comment....
ROAR!
Roar accepted !!
I get the impression you might have watched some Soup Classic Motoring at some point. lol
Yup , it is the best. Did you read the video caption for episode 7 ? 😄
