Ich kenne von dem Fahrzeug nur noch die Werkstattbücher, da ich bei einem Opel Händler gelernt habe. Den ältesten Rekord in der Werkstatt war ein Rekord C.

I like to watch these kinds of resuscitation attempts. I was pleased that you managed to bring it back to life. I don't think the engine runs too badly at all. I would be happy for a followup video. 22:49 They *have* a can of brake cleaner at hand and try 20 minutes in vain to start up the engine with way *too* much fuel dumped into the intake. What a waste of time. It already showed it had spark - so dump in a spray of brake cleaner and get it going in a minute. Then fill the carburator float bowl with fuel. Most likely the fuel system (tank, pump, lines) is very much degraded at that time and compromize any attempt - even with a "fuel bottle" instead of the tank. The old Opel membrane pumps hate to get going entirely dry. Or the membrane gets brittle and breaks. The Opel Carter carb usually suffers from dried up and closed shut needle valve due to fuel remains. It needs either some minor disassembly or some bangs with a screwdriver head. I worked with these cars in the mid-70s and they are very easy to get going if you have a good battery and spark. This there takes *way* too long ... 😅 Thanks for showing non the less !

My father bought a similar Rekord in 1959. All black with a gray interior. Most reliable vehicle "der Zuverlässiger"!

The starter motor pinion is defective, which is why it sometimes spins. This happened more frequently with older Opels, and I experienced it myself.
Memories...😊 my first car was Pll caravan ,1500ccm ,6 V, front bank, 3 gears on steering wheel, zenith carb and smell of nostalgia inside...
