    This is my video about the Arrow Thunder Titanium full exhaust system with a catalytic converter, which is (at the time of writing), the only homologated road legal aftermarket exhaust for the Honda CRF300L and Rally.
    I used the stock system for a few months when I bought the bike, then tried the MotoX exhaust (much lighter, but not road legal, and has that melty end cap!) and then thought I'd try this.I'll
    This video is a close look at the exhaust components and then how I fitted it to my CRF300 Rally.
    It isn't a noise test. That will come later. It was quite late when I finished up and we had guests so I thought better of running and revving it.
    It is lighter than the MotoX and at idle, quieter than both the OEM and MotoX exhausts.
    It is 3 times the price of the MotoX, and as there's nothing wrong with the stock one, other than the weight, it is a bit of a luxury purchase. I'll find out if it was worth it when I've ridden with it for a while.
    I hope it's interesting and useful. Thanks for watching.
    00:00 Introduction
    03:06 Close Look
    06:28 Weigh in
    09:24 MotoX removal
    11:12 Side by Side comparison
    12:20 Fitting
    18:00 Realising the forward clip is the wrong way up
    19:42 Close look at it fitted
    20:40 Bodywork refitting
    21:20 Conclusion
    After putting this video up, a few have asked where I bought it. I couldn't get one from any of the UK Arrow distributors, so mine came from a seller called mototopgun who ships from Italy on eBay. The following are affiliate links, which means if you use them, a small commission is paid which supports the channel. This is paid from eBay’s cut and there is no extra cost to the buyer. If you’d rather not, just look up MotoTopGun on eBay and search for CRF300 homcat and you’ll find them.
    Fanciest, all titanium with a carbon end cap and catalytic converter (this one): ebay.us/nDCTqS
    I nearly bought this version in black: ebay.us/uVUnCu
    or this (I think this is the cheapest, stainless, black coating and stainless end cap): ebay.us/kBXumH
    The choices that affect the price seem to be how many titanium pieces vs stainless, with/without a cat (not road legal without), and if you have a carbon or stainless end cap.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure if you’ve ever tried recording an exhaust sound, and then listening to the playback. Unless the viewer has a sound system with a linear characteristic and the volume set to the same level to reflect the recording, it’s pretty meaningless. If you watch MotoGP using the speaker on your phone you might as well be listening to mice. If you’re there in person, you feel every exhaust whine and roar through your skull and chest as the bikes race by. Even the dynamic range of an exhaust from idle to full is a challenge to be picked up by a standard voice mic, and with the compression for TH-cam and others, even if it could be captured, I doubt it would be reflected even in the perfect sound system. So for all those reasons, please accept my apologies for not adding the impossible. There is another video where I’ve tried to measure the sound levels for comparison with stock, and another trail ride video where some of the exhaust sound while riding is picked up.

And though it's not as fast, it's got a longer range, weighs 40kg less, and has better suspension than a T7. Probably a little as it restricts the flow but I guess you’d also need to get more air in, so an airbox mod, and then if there’s and problems with reduced back pressure. Perhaps if you do all, and have an ECU map designed for that you’d get the real benefit.

    Thank you from British Columbia, Canada.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rob,
      I’m not sure if it has a Canada compliant spark arrester. They aren’t really a thing here (too damp?) so I don’t think they are needed for an exhaust to be road or trail legal. As for repacking, I’m sure you could but I don’t think they need it. I had twin Arrow exhausts on my 2014 Speed Triple 1050R and had no need to repack it up until when I sold it in 2020. I would think that a 130hp 1050cc triple puts more heat and force through the packing material than my CRF300, so I guess it’ll be ok.
      It might be worth asking the Canadian Arrow importer about compliance, as they might know more.

      Andre

    If you left the dB killer in the Motox silencer , it will be quiet but the stock dB killer is completely incapable of passing sufficient gass for any performance. The stock one , despite being very well constructed has only 8 bleed holes of just over 6mm. A crossectional area of approx 226sq mm. The outlet of the exhaust is about 29mm or approx 707sq mm. Even without taking into account the fact that the holes are at right-angles to the flow AND the much smaller holes will have vastly decreased average flow/area, that restriction of gasflow will not be good for power or quite likely the engine. That much restriction means that the holes act as bleed holes for the silencer chamber only. The temperature in the exhaust system will be raised and also raise the cyl temperature.
    I drilled my holes to 10mm and added a 12mm holes in the blanked end. The should pass about the right amount of gas, but still break up the sound pressure wave ( not the same things). It would be nice to have seen dyno difference.
    Big thumbs up from me for weighing things, especially exhausts. Modern exhausts don't usually restrict power much ( if at all) , but weigh a ton. The main reason for changing them is weight loss and accompanying accelleration increase. I would post a pic but youtube doesn't allow that facility.
    ps I love Arrow exhausts. Genuinely smart design.

If you can get some jubilee clips with captive nuts, it might be possible but you’d still have to find a way to recreate the locating tabs. I think the Enduristan Inferno would be easier. Hi,
      I’m sure it is, though what sort of riding are you thinking of doing? If mostly paved roads and some dirt roads, probably ok. Not sure I’d fancy much single track or Sandy/rocky/technical sections loaded up like that. The Honda OEM rack has a plate that’ll take a Givi box. For others, you’d need a rack and probably an adapter plate. I find it gets sort of snug with something on the passenger seat, but again, it’s down to where you’re riding and where you need to put your backside. Also, getting on and off might be a challenge depending on your height and flexibility. I’d probably suggest considering where you’ll be riding and then doing some test rides to build up to it. If it’s too much stuff, I’d probably lose the top box. The security is nice to have but it’s extra weight high up, far back where you don’t really want it.
      Good luck!

    Hi André, thanks for doing this upgrade, I know it's a while ago, but my stock is rotting away and the arrow seems the way to go in the UK, noise and cat etc, any regrets with it after the time you've had it?

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, None whatsoever. Maybe still a little on the price 😁 but that's the yorkshireman in me! With the cat in, it's homologated to have the same response as stock, so I haven't really noticed any change in power or where it's made. Top speed is similar to stock. It's also fairly quiet and I can pass horses on the road on a little throttle and they don't really notice me, and also sound ok (but not too loud) opened up. If you need a replacement, it's a good weight saving, and maintains both emissions and noise levels.

    • @steveh100
      @steveh100 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Peak Motorcycles brilliant, that's more than enough info, that's exactly what I'm after, I wasn't sure what homulagated meant, I wasn't expecting more power (although I would never complain lol) just as long as it does the job and sounds sociable, lots of people seem to regret buying others just because of the noise. Thanks again Andre, as always. Top bloke!

      @@steveh100 I think homologated means it has the same flow profile as stock, so as long as you’re not expecting a performance improvement (other thank weight) then it’s fine. This is me passing horses!

    Hi , great info here. i have a question. your moto x system had steel header pipes, and the arrow is all titanium. there was a 700 gram difference. moto x also does a full titanium system still at half the price of the arrow . any idea what that wheighs? i am guessing it would close the gap quite a bit...

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the header and link pipe on the Arrow are steel, and just the silencer is titanium. (If I said otherwise, I was wrong) I’m not sure what the all titanium MotoX weighs, I think it’s a bit of a saving, however I’m not sure what grade the titanium is. The end cap of my MotoX started melting after a week and they weren’t interested in doing anything under warranty. It was quite a big step up in price to the all titanium and it wasn’t worth it to me. I’m sure some folks have one though.

    • @bondibeast

      Am I right in saying it's 72528PK + 72178PZ + 72179PD? I have been thinking about getting the 72528XKI + 72177PD + 72179PD (X-KONE) set as it is even slightly more light than the one you fitted on the video. I think also the end can is a bit nicer to my eye.
      Nice video! Very helpful.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think so, yes. I looked at the X-Kone, but I wanted to use it with soft panniers, and I think it's harder to fit a heat shield to a conical exhaust. The X-Kone is also a little shorter. I know a few folks that have them though and they are delighted with them.

    Hi Andre what is the price of the Arrow system and where can you purchase them from. Thanks

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi,
      I couldn't get one from any of the UK Arrow distributors, so mine came from a seller called mototopgun who ships from Italy on eBay:
      Fanciest one: ebay.us/nDCTqS
      I nearly bought this version in black: ebay.us/uVUnCu
      or this (I think this is the cheapest): ebay.us/kBXumH
      The choices that affect the price seem to be how many titanium pieces vs stainless, with/without a cat (not road legal without), and if you have a carbon or stainless end cap.
      If you're elsewhere, then perhaps try your in country Arrow dealer and you may get a better price and avoid international shipping. If you're in the UK, then I'm afraid you're in the same boat as me!
      Good luck

      @PeakMotorcycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      With rackless panniers? Or panniers on the racks? If with the racks, you might be ok. Just check the clearance and how hot the exhaust gets. For rackless, I think they would be touching the silencer so I think a heat shield of some description would be needed.

    Another great video ! Thats an expensive exhaust but I am sure it will be worth it. I would be very interested to know the difference of the internal diameter of the header pipe compared to the original.
    I believe the 250 l and Rally had a bigger diameter compared to pre 2017 models, but the 300 models seem to be smaller again.
    Anyway, looking forward to your sound check video, and again my compliments on all your hard work and research. 👍

      @PeakMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David, I’m glad you are, I’m not sure if it’ll be worth it 🤣. I guess there’s not many videos on it due to the cost. If it’s quiet, light, and either replicates the stock power or makes a slight improvement, then it’s a question of is it worth it…. Everything is marginal, and I think it’s pretty expensive compared to stock. We shall see. It’s a bit late now to return it!

      @@Bruneello thanks, though that’s a fuel controller right, rather than a remap which changes the ECU software? I don’t think you can remove the jerky throttle with an EJK. The Arrow is homologated so should have the same back pressure characteristics as stock, so shouldn’t need any changes.

      A little, but generally it's ok. it's so draughty in there that the airflow seems to keep it dry. Dry enough at least. I don't bag the bikes, and I've never used a humidifier and even on the 30 year old XV1100 there's minimal condensation on steel parts.
      Just got planning permission to replace the cowshed though.... that'll be the new motorbike room/studio and will be waterproof, draughtproof, and might even have heating if I'm allowed! Probably won't get built until next year, but I can dream. Might even get a bike lift in the floor if I'm lucky!

If it’s a big home cinema sound system with a sub, it probably sounds amazing. The same clip played through the speaker of a cheap smartphone sounds terrible and I have no control over how people watch.
