    I’ve got the same model Hilux and done a 2” body lift, I can still shift into 2nd, 4th and reverse but my stick hits the plastic surround abit and also has a bit of resistance going into them gears, are you able to explain roughly what I have to do to make the shifter sit normal again/ possibly shift better? Love the vids the surf has been my highlight from the channel

    • @boostedbuiltgarage
      @boostedbuiltgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's because there is a perpendicular part of the shifter that comes straight up out of the box which then dog legs at about the height of the hole in the tunnel. You've now moved your body up 50mm, so that straight section needs to extend, otherwise the dogleg In the shifter is closer to the hole in the tunnel or the console cover. Long story short from where it comes out of the gearbox it just needs a 2" straight section welded in. Also worth reinforcing it a bit too

    • @screamitinstead

      Boosted & Built Garage your an absolute champion mate I appreciate it so much I have done so much googling to try find a straight forward answer like that, even called snake racing and they said there should be no issues with the shifter after 2” body lift which I knew couldn’t be right, appreciate the message mate thanks heaps and can’t wait for more content

    Hey Ben, thanks for the video mate. My 2000 Prado 1KZ-TE is running like new with all the power I need for daily driving however I'm trying to come up with a cost effective solution for tackling the problem these engines have with towing and long, gradual up hill climbs on the freeway etc. I have added a bonnet scoop, 8" fan on top of the intercooler, 3 bar map sensor and manual boost controller boosting max 15-16 psi (which drops to 12 psi? Not sure why it doesn't stay at 16 psi?). Driving up the long hills it feels like its being under fueled. Towing my 2T caravan on the freeway is just plain embarrassing. I've read these engines have a factory fuel cut which is set to kick in around 14-15psi boost? As such I am now exploring the idea of installing a Turbosmart FCD-2 to see if this will overcome the under fueling issue and give me some more strength on the freeway on hills. Am I floggin' a dead horse here? I know a Unichip Q4 will solve my problem but I don't have a spare ~$2700 right now so am exploring cheaper options first. Would love your opinion on this. Cheers mate :D

    • @BENgineered
      @BENgineered 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate, only just saw this. You won’t need a FCD if you are running a 3bar sensor. Your best bang for buck for sure is a Unichip, all the things you’ve listed will make small improvements but nothing will be as big a gain as a quality tune. Let me know if you want to go down that path. Cheers

  • @MussaKZN
    @MussaKZN 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I made a Mussa custom top mount and snorkel also 3” exhaust, then I got bored and fabricated a front mount cooler all behind the grill,
    It’s tight real tight, yes you can leave the AC Condenser in but you do need to remove the lower sheet metal trim from the grill, from memory 570mm
    300mm 75mm ! Bar and plate + custom made tanks, 62mm S/S boost plumbing hot and cold.
    Instead of a DP chip have you got any thoughts on the
    Turbosmart TS-0303-1002 Fuel Cut Defender FCD-2 (Electronic) and a normal boost tap,
    I’m a fabrication guy not a gadget guy!!

    • @BENgineered
      @BENgineered 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either of those devices will likely help a little however it would be far from optimal or getting the most from your mods. The only device I’ve seen that has the ability to maximize those types of mods on a 1KZ is the UniChip.

  • @joshuamunn144

    I've got a 01 sr5 with the 1kzte, I added a top mount from a prado but can't find any of the mounts to stabilise the cooler, any idea on where I could find them? Also need to do the same mods to airbox before I get my chip installed which leads me to think I should go stainless like you have done with minhs. Great work guys looks awesome.
    Where abouts are you located?

    • @boostedbuiltgarage
      @boostedbuiltgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can find them on eBay or other websites online. Just search vibration dampers.
      Yeah I would definitely recommend a full upgraded air intake system before tuning any power upgrades. As there is a clear restriction at about 80-90kw.
