That thing is a beast! I just chipped and tuned my stock 1kz hilux and doubled the hp and torque. I thought mine was a weapon running less numbers than yours!!
I was concerned there wouldn't be enough air flow for the front mount intercooler, but since you have that big ass bumper I reckon I should be ok with a stock '96 Hilux Surf front end? cool vids. picking up my hilux in a few days (in america)
Heya Trav, do you think the 4" snorkel is overkill for this setup? I built my own stainless snorkel recently on my 95 series Prado and went with 2.75" diameter as I thought it looked less like a cop magnet but it also matches the stock filter box inlet. I completey removed all of the in-guard Toyota intake pipes with the dog leg bend etc and went straight through the guard into the filter box. 3"+ snorkel/pipe just seemed to look too stand outtish on my rig. So 2.75" seemed like the logical size to go for. However I've just ordered a CCT Stage One high flow turbo and am now wondering if my snorkel size choice is going to be restrictive? Hey mate id say that a smooth flowing intake is beneficial have removed all restrictions definitely i think what you have done will work just fine. Me personally i like the 4" snorkel its a personal preference. good luck on your build mate enjoy

I'm planning a Unichip instead of the manual pump but in the meantime, I'm running a PPD 3" exhaust, improved intake as discussed, 3 bar map sensor to bypass the fuel cut, scoop for the top mount IC (soon to install a shrouded fan underneath). New head, injectors, glow plugs, water pump, thermostat, radiator, auto trans cooler, Boost T wound up to around 18psi. EGT, Boost and water temp gauges. What can I expect from this new turbo? I suspect not a lot of difference until I can get the Unichip on there and up the fuelling but it's hard to find good feedback on these turbos with this engine. 😊👍
@@1samwhich Mate you've done quite alot of work and done it right so that turbo is definitely going to do its job what its going to do is increase low down torque and improve acceleration right thru the rev range's huge difference from the old turbo. Good job mate

how are you doing boss I'm in the USA and I'm building a set up on a 4runner or surf with solid axle in front as you guys know them but I'm having trouble with the oil sump and oil pick up tube becase obviously that 1kz-te never came in this car in the USA can you help me with that

I was looking into this sort of mod but mines done 317tho now so was abit reluctant to put 22psi boost into it, got me thinking about it again tho, did you put in a 3 bar map sensor as well?
@@mattelwes5681 you can still do the mods just done feed the hp into it all the time and aslong as its had a good life... and no to the map sensor once you go mechanical there is no more electronics on the engine other than the shut of solid and a couple other bits have a look at the rest of my vids there in detail
@@TRAV30387 The 1kzte are a good motor, i have a 90 series prado go quoted 6-8k for a rebuild my 1kzte almost died lol. Has the hilux got a quick throttle response and has the lag gone.

What was done for all of the tuning
In house jhhilux set the pump up on a pump dyno and all you have to do is bolt it up and set the timing lines up and send it
