    This is a VERY helpful video. Thank you for making this. Please make more. You explain things well and are quite articulate.

    The new one he has is for the downstream o2 sensor. They look different because one is for before the catalytic converter (CC) and the other is for the sensor that's after the CC. The old one he pulled out is the upstream o2 sensor located before the CC, and the one he bought is located after the CC. Make sure you get the right one.

      How do u know which one to get? My car stalls out and I bought the upstream I believe. Haven't installed it tho as I purchased it less than 10 minutes ago.

      I was going to say... that looks like the down stream sensor not the upstream

      Ask your auto parts store employee if they are selling you the upstream or downstream one. They have different plug ins to the car

      Both are UPSTREAM Sensors just different brands, old one is OE style Denso. New one is bosch. But both of these sensors are for the bank1 sensor 1 👍 cool

    Thank you. Actually saw another one where they cut the wire off on top and used a regular socket to remove the old one. Saved me money.

    Great video. However, I have a 2015 with the same engine. Apparently between the 2012 and 2015 model year GM decided to make a major change to the 02 sensor locations. The upstream sensor is now located near the bottom of the exhaust pipe. The sensor is now covered by a 18 gauge thick heat shield making it impossible to get to from the top of the engine. I had to go under the vehicle to find both of the sensors. Another issue is that space is extremely limited between the exhaust and the firewall. My 7 yr old son couldn't even get his hand up to it. Great engineering. The downstream sensor is a piece of cake. But again, great video for that model year.

    Good video. Also a good tip is to add a coating of anti seize on the threads of the sensor and also maybe a small bit of electrical grease on the connector. That will make your install a little easier

    I sprayed too much penetrating oil and almost had a fire when the exhaust heated up. Very good video.

      Greg Randolph check your exhaust manifold, I found one the other day that was cracked causing a misreading at the upstream sensor. It was on an 2011 equinox

    Would this potentially fix the P0420 code? My 2011 equinox has no driving issues, other than check engine light.

    • @jrburger1987
      @jrburger1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LizzzYT no it didn't remove the engine light. I went to go to the yard and fortunately the catalyst converter was gone.. And to buy one was a big expensive and didn't want put too much into it. Since I had to replace the headliner since it was leaking water when it rain. Not to mention it also consume oil and it wasn't ready for an oil change. So we traded it in for a 2019 hyundai Tucson. That suv was about to be a lemon. I hope u trade that Equinox in soon since they had so many recall.

    Having trouble taking the sensor out. Sprayed W-D on it and will wait to try again tomorrow. Should I be using the special socket or regular. The space is to hard to maneuver any tool. Appreciate any help, thank you!

    You will be replacing this again. Bosch o2 sensors are junk. You should only be using a Denso or delco which is denso in any Gm.

      The best way of doing it is to spray a penetrating oil like PB Blaster, or Liquid Wrench. Let it soak for an hour spray it again and try loosing it. That's what I did on mine.

    • @Non-Artificial-Intelligence
      @Non-Artificial-Intelligence 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, P0131 indicates the Bank1 Sensor1 O2 sensor. This is the in the "upstream" unit in the exhaust manifold that the videos shows being replaced. The four cylinder engine only has "Bank1". If you have the V6 engine, Bank1 is the side of the engine that contains the #1 cylinder.
