    I own this car PDK and love it, taking on and off the roof is romantic,there's contact and communication with the car,that's what Spyder and Roadster are about!

      I think the Spyder’s are finally getting owned by the right owners. Some people just don’t understand the lightweight concept.

    Interesting! I didn’t know the Velcro was there and I am on my 3rd 987.2 Spyder. Thanks! And, don’t slam the doors. Thanks

    I also didn’t know there was a pocket! Guess I should have read the instructions huh?

    I actually think, in theory, that with some practice, this process of completely removing/putting back up the top can be done in about 1.5-2 mins. I may be wrong, but I feel that with practice, you can do it very quickly every time, actually looks pretty satisfying to do🤣. Though I’m talking about saving time, it is after all a pure drivers car, so messing with the roof for a few extra mins can’t hurt to someone who enjoys it as much as I would. Looking for a possible replacement for our 987 boxster base, would you recommend the spyder as an upgrade?

    • @GilsonMotorSports
      @GilsonMotorSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, I can install and remove the top quickly now that I have some practice. I think the top is very unique and even on the newer 981 & 718 Spyder’s the top is less unique. Porsche did a fantastic job in reducing the weight and increasing horsepower to make the 987 handle like the older Porsche’s. Very nimble and controllable. I would recommend the Spyder, but I think a lot of people that purchased a 987 Spyder didn’t like the top.

      @@GilsonMotorSports thanks for the quick reply! I could put up with all the work that goes into the top just for the look of it alone, not to mention the sound and performance. Do you estimate that the 987 spyder will keep its value throughout the next few years? (increase/decline/idle?)

    • @GilsonMotorSports
      @GilsonMotorSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sure I’m a little biased, as I love the 987 Spyder. Every time I drive it, it buts a huge smile on my face. I think values of 987 Spyder will hold. It’s like the 1989 Speedster, Porsche only built a limited number of Speedsters in 1989 and the same goes for the 987 Spyder, being 891 sold in the US and 71 sold in Canada. I was able to purchase of of the 71 sold in Canada and had it imported to the US. You are also correct in that the rear deck lid is something special to look at.

      You must give away comfort for "Soul" driving,the Spyder is a sportier version therefore is a stiffer car in every sense but rewarding as well!

    I'm worn out just watching you walk around the car so many times.
    Beautiful car though.

    • @GilsonMotorSports
      @GilsonMotorSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it takes a few times walking around the car to get the top on and off. Still one of the best handling cars I’ve driven. Took the Spyder to the Tail of the Dragon last year and was able to keep up with the GT cars.

    How water tight is the car with the roof on. Could you drive it in a heavy storm and it wouldn't leak?

    • @GilsonMotorSports
      @GilsonMotorSports  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The top is actually made to leak a little. The water runs to the back of the window and goes down to an area with a drain. I have been in some major storms with the car and the leaking isn’t a big issue because Porsche thought about how to manage a leaking top that does it’s best to keep the driver & passenger dry.

    It's such a pain in the ass. Did yours come with the black wheels?

    • @GilsonMotorSports
      @GilsonMotorSports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it came with the black wheels. I’ve seen just the centers done in black and the barrel in silver. And I’ve seen the all silver wheels. I like the full black with silver lip.

      @@GilsonMotorSports I have the same colour car (quite rare I understand.) with the silver lightweight spyder wheels and I love it. I get people stop outside my house and come and ask questions about it. I put the roof on in around a minute on my own and less with help. Best fun road car ever.
