I really appreciated your demonstration. I’m buying an Outlander 2022. I was hesitating between Santa Fe 2021 Calligraphy edition and Outlander 2022 GT premium. Your video helped me to make a final decision.
A CVT should not fake shift IMO. I wish automakers would let us choose between different software modes so the driver can choose "Shiftless" or "conventional" modes to suit their taste at that given moment. I've always likened a shifting CVT to wrapping tape around a fork so it works like a spoon. Just get a spoon. That said, I actually like this vehicle a lot. Mitsubishi deserves the attention.
Under light throttle it doesn't shift and stays at a low rpm but if you want it 2 sound "sporty" then you push hard and you get a locked in gear feeling 2 prevent drone.
CVT should fake shift, having the engine at constant high revs is not good for the long term durability of the engine. the outlander cvt is tuned perfectly, The engine does not rev high under light to moderate acceleration, and under heavy acceleration it cuts the revs so the engine has some breathing room, the older cvt would constantly stay in the red line and the engine becomes overly noisy. This cvt drives as if it were an automatic and still has the benefits of cvt , such as overtaking at higher speeds. It will also be more durable than dual clutch. Dual clutch are not good if they are poorly designed, such as the ones from Hyundai and kia
Listen, I have had two of these with cvts, and if you drive moderately and change the trans fluid every 20000 miles you will get at least 200,000 out of them. And the motor is bullet proof.
Maintenance Maintenance, maintenance, is the key to longevity with these cvts! True they can’t take people with heavy feet driving them without problems, but I have 165000 on mine and I drive like an adult and change fluid everyb35000 miles with no problems at all!
I'm about to buy a used (but well-maintained) 2022 SEL, has 31,000 miles. I plan to get the transmission serviced around 35K, is that just a "drain & fill" ?
The car isn't doing those gear shifts under heavy throttle to make the driver happy lol,... The management system is "changing gears" in the max torque range.
The problem lies in when they fail. They dont really have a repair option or really any other option other than replacement. Friends last gen Outlander cvt failed at 105k. Of course not covered. It needed a 7k cvt replacement.
I don't understand how direct metal on metal contact, being the chain on the rotating CVT drums, doesn't produce huge amounts of heat, friction, and metal wear particles that is going to begin it's built in obsoletic death sentence.
It’s Jatco CVT8 Xtronic, much improved and reliable now, all the previous known issues has been resolved in 2023 model..! And secondly this transmission has been manufactured by Jatco but tuned by Mitsubishi Motors..! And this is the reason Mitsubishi is offering best drive train warranty in the market right now..!
I had a RAV4 it was nice but the road noise so I traded it in for a used 22 outlander ! The outlander has more quiet ride n has the better warranty than the RAV4!
I haven't seen this. The cvt here in ny needs to be changed every 30-60k miles. I change my cvt fluid every 60k miles usually except for the last 2 times I changed it ever 40k miles
I like it and they are reasonable price range..but no one is aware if Mitsubishi already fixed the historical problem whit the CVT transmisión problem..Even 2022 no one know yet about it i better wait some time and see,,they already have 3 recalls for the 2022 ,,,
CAR seems perfect for non-driver oriented people. In other words, CVT= boring. Where'd that interior color come from? Here in U.S. the only choice is black. Does this model vehicle always come in 3 row configuration?
The lack of rear led turn signals, cheap car horn, lack of led interior lights and that cvt killed this for me or else I’d be a outlander owner. The cvt was actually not bad by the way it try’s to mimic gears but I want real gears w/a little more power.
The lack of sense that you have. You can change those lights for LEDs. You can put another horn, either low or high tone (whichever you need), and you can upgrade the interior lights. And the CVT is good enough. Those little drawbacks really kept you from owning one? Make a list of pros and cons.
I bought my 2022 outlander and I’m super happy because I got a interior luxury and a beautiful design

Happy to hear it, what made you decide?

Love this new Outlander. We haven't got it in Australia yet. I'll be cross shopping the Outlander, Outback and Tucson... ???

Sounds like you want the 2013 altima lol

Great feedback, maintenance is key!
The cvt and motor are a heap of shit.
I agree on your caption we have a 2022 outlander drives really well with the CVT
Lucky you, waiting patiently in Australia.
@@joelcolgate3683 inside no doubt
Same, I love my 22 outlander. Already 50k miles on it and only routine maintenance and a set of tires.
2 weeks ago replaced the rear brakes.
love the outlander 2022. for those who want to feel more power or accelerate faster, it does feel more aggressive in manual mode.
Wow! great explanation of the Mitsubishi tunning of the CVT transmission!! Thank you
Bought a 2022 outlander love it !
Can’t wait to get my black beauty 🖤
Excellent demo. Thanks!

It would of been nice to had seen the lancer evo platform as an option. This body with a sporty engine and trans

Aisin or still Jetko?

Still a pile of junk.
0-100km about 10.5 seconds, normal for what it is but kind of slower than the previous 2.4L 166hp, compared to this 181hp 2.5.
Previous model is 100kg+ lighter than this.
Hi there!
Do you know if cvt is chain or belt .
Thanks
Belt
Between this or the Rav4 Prime what would everyone choose?
I had a RAV4 it was nice but the road noise so I traded it in for a used 22 outlander ! The outlander has more quiet ride n has the better warranty than the RAV4!
@@abbyhunker3956 Appreciate your insight!
what about CVTs performance in stressful off road situations. Previous CVTs have performed poorly in off road
Define off road? Most of these new suvs are not meant for extreme off road. Maybe for muddy, snowy, or gravel trails.
you shouldn't take this 20inches wheels to offroading. This is city suv, having AWD safer than not having FWD.
Thank you !
Does it have steel gears just for first launch? Cvt?
I believe the only CVT I've read about with an actual first gear is found on the Toyota Corolla Cross. Might also be on the Corolla.
Spare tyre?
Awesome
Ok what RPM is it revving at to maintain a steady 100km/hr?
Normally, at 100km/hr it maintains exactly 1500 rpms on outlander 2023..!
Its like my 2019 kia forte
Is it still a jatco cvt?
Mitsubishi has been using Jatco transmissions since the early 90s, the difference is they use their INVECS programming.
Has Synthetic CVT Oil and only needs to be changed @ 15,000 miles unless you do all City Driving, according toThe Dealer!
I haven't seen this. The cvt here in ny needs to be changed every 30-60k miles. I change my cvt fluid every 60k miles usually except for the last 2 times I changed it ever 40k miles
What does the owner's manual state? Normal maintenance schedule or severe schedule will determine what you do.

Cvts will never be as good as a good old gear operated trans. I've got 293,000 on a gm 4l80e that's never been rebuilt. Let's see a cvt do that.
Almost there at 230k miles on my Nissan Sentra
@@idkwhattoputformynameythey tell more about the cvt

0-100 km / h in 8 seconds
It's too bad not many people will even be made aware of this car.
Why would anyone in their right mind buy car with CVT?
Because they are efficient and nice to drive
My 3rd car with CVT no issues at all.
Please do your research. This is a JATCO CVT. They have an absolutely terrible reputation for quality
Heap of rubbish,i had my 2024 outlander 5 months then got rid of it,pile of junk.

Which vehicle did you find for this price point that included said features?
The lack of sense that you have. You can change those lights for LEDs. You can put another horn, either low or high tone (whichever you need), and you can upgrade the interior lights. And the CVT is good enough. Those little drawbacks really kept you from owning one? Make a list of pros and cons.
Just switch out the bulbs to LED.🤦🏻♂️
