Congratulations and keep always the excellent work!
Thats one hell of a compliment... thank you so much man. That motivation will do to keep us running a while. Now... everybody else has to see it that way, too and we will go somewhere ;-)
Media Division - Im very sure everybody sees it that way. Some might be a bit lazy to write a compliment but just look at all the comments below...none are bad. The ones that could think bad are really way out of line or are plane envious and pooping outside the toilet. Oh, I am not discouraged by a bit of trolling… you can't get it right for everybody and I see TH-cam as a playground to at least get it right for us. As a creator yourself you can read analytics and you see how many people "walk by" and how far one is away from making money that buys more then an ice cream
Absolutely crazy. This channel is so underrated. Very interested in these lenses, have heard many times about this but love the in depth look. Moved these lenses to a top on my list
@@MediaDivision I believe it, but at the same time I bet if you put the 2.8 against the 1.4 nobody could tell a difference just like in this test 😉 Anyway, insanely good content, sir!
Been wanting to build a Contax Zeiss set for awhile now. Still aways from happening, but this video was an excellent reminder of why I'm such a fan of the look of those lenses!
I would love, love, love for you to do the same comparison of Canon FD lenses vs Canon k35. My understanding is that it's the same deal: Same glass, coatings and general element configuration, but K35's are 30K per lens, while even (mint) cinemodded FDs are around 300.00. Keep up the great work.
I looooove my FDs. Filmed a concert with them recently. Paired then with a Red Gemini and they're so good. They're still very sharp in the middle but they have such a beautiful flare and creamy rolloff. The bokeh is great too.
@@salvadorvega9834 Same, my favorite lenses. Would love to see a test to see if it's worth modding them all. I have a 55mm 1.2 out for mod now, but would love to see compared against ridiculously expensive k35s.
@@MediaDivision you'd be surprised. Look up Christopher Probst, shot many commercials and Taylor Swift music videos with FDs. But that's okay with me, keep the demand and the prices down for the lenses :)

Thanks a lot… Good hunting. These lenses where not produced in Jena but in western Germany (just so you know, which you probably do). We will release an episode featuring a f0.73 Jena Biotar in a month or two.
Thank you so much for this beautiful presentation. Not only the technical content is fantastic but also done with such a talent, the picture quality is just amazing. I have looked several times and was even more impressed at last as I saw some more details I missed at first... Thanks.
This has just become my favorite TH-cam channel. The work you're doing is amazing, beautiful and very informative videos. This is indeed quality content. Thank you!
I got the AEJ version of the 50mm for cheap in an auction, but has a mark on the front that, doesn't affect the image in any way, bothers me so I'm selling that and trying to get a mint one as I'm seeing these as a lifetime investment.
An outstanding episode! I was just amazed. Also, you introduced me to the firm Leitax. Besides the Contax Zeiss converters, they had also had converters for many other makes of prime lenses from my olden, golden days that just sit on a shelf next to my rocking chair. Your video has given me a wealth of new ideas!!! Danke!
as someone who has made independent features and music videos for over 15 years now, I have to say that this is one of the most epic channels out there!! Feeds great information in an unparalleled way (Im talking the also the classic movie incorporations into the videos - my classic film fanboy heart is so happy lol) ...just bought the Contax Zeiss Distagon 35mm with the pro cinemod for my Canon c70 and can't wait to use it!
Thanks a lot man… we are always hope to get that nostalgic epic gist into our episodes to make learning just as fun as useful. Enjoy the 35mm CZ. The focus through is a bit short, but optically it is excellent
i reiterate what lots of people here have said : the production value and content of your videos are peerless. You and Juan Melara are why i come back to youtube!
Your videos are incredible, and I have so much respect for the time you take to polish them to perfection instead of rush them out like every other TH-camr. Amazing dudes!
Thanks a lot man… one needs one way to differentiate from the others. I think we overdid it with the latest one. To be released in days… worked on it for halve a year?!?!?!
First great work on the intro. Anything with The Shining or Kubrick's work I'm all for. Bravo! The only lens that caught my eye is the 15mm Contax Zeiss. It even looked amazing on the MFT sensor.
Media Division: "This lenses are adaptable to all types of mounts - well maybe except Nikon F mount" Me: having a F mount camera, looking on eBay to sell it and buy any other mount camera
Yeah, it is a bit of the curse of F mount, that it has the slightly longer flange. Any new mirrorles mount solves the Problem. Z,E,R,L...pick your poison
To be clear, many of the Contax Zeiss lenses CAN be adapted to Nikon F-- it can just be a little more tricky. I own the 28-85 zoom adapted to Nikon F with a Leitax adapter. You can check out the Leitax site for more info on lenses they've tested.
Sorry that I post so much comments but I am really excited about what you create. I actually see the difference as I know these lenses really well and I instantly knew that A was the Super Speed but I am impressed by the contax lenses. I am gonna complete my set with contax lenses as now i own 35,50,85 - I need wide angle 15mm in my life and a long focal length - THANK YOU!
Sure thing… if you are on FF be aware that the 15 is very very special… nothing all day… but we shot the new Media Division intro on it, as it offers very Deep DoF

@@MediaDivision I don't know... We've seen some prices staying inflated for years cause of social media before :) "Olympus Mju" is the obvious example. But, I'm only half-serious. More informed people are the better chance that the manufacturers will adjust their engineering instead of adjusting peoples expectations and opinions. As for my lenses, I don't have the whole set yet :( ...cause I'm only using them on Contax RTS and Fuji. I do have a set of ZF2's for my DSLR work but no matter what Zeiss says they just aren't the same. That would be interesting video btw ;)
This is a superb piece of work! Thank you very much for the great info, comparison & how-to's. The esthetics and vibe are also nice. Excellent compositing and narration. Btw, the main difference between cinema Zeiss and Contax Zeiss that I noticed in this video was a bit richer color reproduction in Superspeeds, though not enough to justify the price difference. You did an awesome job editing yourself in to the movie!
Thanks a lot … you useless Duck! What a name name man 😂
Watch the canon fd video, the way he edits himself into aliens is jawdropping!
The first TH-cam channel that i feel it's from the pros. Image quality, intros, content, simply amazing. I learned a lot. Thank you so much. I'll keep watching.
Thanks a lot Reyda… lovely to have you around.
I'm always amazed by your work. It's so interesting for a photography studant like me. Thank you, you deserve a bigger comunity
Thank you… thats why I ask you guys to spread the word!!! ;-)
Mignon.
After having this video suggested to me multiple times after viewing initially, I finally gave in and picked the 28mm up. 😅 looking forward to Cine-modding! Superb video as always, Media Division!
TH-cam………… knows... you... soul. Thanks Austin. I hope you will enjoy it.
Hey Aystin, did you cinemoded your lens?
This has got to be every film makers favourite channel to binge on!!
I hope man... I hope. Thanks a lot.
Lovely video. You guys could have easily done 4 videos from this one video but you’ve combined everything and no click baits, etc. after a long time, a quality, good and an organic video on TH-cam. Thank you. Very useful. Much appreciated!!
Thanks a lot man… this is the kind of contend that we would like to see on TH-cam… so we produce it ;-)
Been in love with the Contax Zeiss glass for several years now, thank you so much for fueling that love for further years of work with it. I did share the video with my friends. Again, thank you!
It was a pleasure… thanks a lot Dani… and thanks a lot for sharing brother!!!!
This is absolutely badass. I love the care and craftsmanship that went into this video, and I love the exhaustive work you've done in explaining and comparing these lenses' capabilities. The Contax line is definitely on my wishlist now!
Thanks man… not much you can do wrong with the Contax Zeiss if the prices don't go up… but I guess they will.
This has quickly become my favorite TH-cam channel. I check for new videos all the time
Thanks man… that is nice. Sorry we upload so rarely, but to do more we would have to make some money with it.
This is such a great production. I've actually watched this video twice and have shared it with my cinematographer friend. Thanks for taking the time to put together such a high-quality and informative video for us cinematographers on a budget! I truly appreciate it.
Thanks a lot Yulfi... especially for sharing... :-) it is our pleasure
Instantly subscribed. This was absolutely beautiful.
This channel deserves a million subs already.
Nice to have you around and thank you. Well... we are all for it
The most epic intro to the lens review I have ever seen. So much information! This is insane! I'm so happy that i've subscribed to this channel. Great work.
Thanks a lot Philip... very glad you are enjoying our little grab into the effects box!!
I gotta say, that greenscreen at the beginning is honestly one of the better ones I've seen.
Thanks man!
@@MediaDivision You're welcome.
Your episodes are all addictive. I spent lots of time travelling recently and I am binge watching and can't wait for the end of the year break. I will Mac gyver the shit out of old and new vintage gear I already own / just buy.... Big thanks 👍🙏👍
Very glad you feel that way… I am all for it. Good luck with your Mac Gyver ventures… hope you'll succeed. Let us know!
Absolutely genius intro and content here! I was immediately hooked up and fascinated by the uniqueness of this approach. Well done and keep it up please.
Thanks a lot João!!! Will try ;-)
The production quality on this video is absolutely godly. This made me appreciate my Contax Zeiss 50/1.7 even more, I was lucky enough to get it for $70 shipping included!!
Thanks a lot my dear Sir. Sounds like a good price!
'Change TH-cam from quantity to quality' omg this is the most epic channel on youtube just instantly subbed so resourceful and extreamly detailed explanation love your channel guys keep doing the great work
Thanks cube! Yeah… wouldn't it be nice ;-) Let's try together! Thanks for hanging around… and the motivation.
I come back here once in a while. Its my go to reference Video regarding the Contax Zeiss lenses ✌🏻
The comparison between the contax ziess and superspeed 50mm with the guy in the tunnel is epic, looks like you have a pro mist filter on the lens and that depth of field is insane.
Yeah… wide open the do have that haze… and the Contax Zeiss 50 1.4 is way cheaper then a full size Pro Mist..... priceless ;-)
Great to see actual quality content on TH-cam. Great work.
Thanks Vedanta… I wish TH-cam would see it that way, too
I'm going to rename my router SSID to "Wifey" 😛
Amazing video as always. We're spoiled for getting all this content for free. Thank you.
Perfect name! Thanks man……… I wish TH-cam would create a tip jar
You guys rule... practically a film for a review and comparison, incredible work... I'm just starting filmmaking and this is really inspiring... thanks
Greetings from Chile...
Thank you Jorge... it is great to hear that we could inspire you a little. Good luck on the long journey of making films
Media Division I will try to make a trío to Europe to get in touch with the filming community there, is it ok to try and get in touch with you if it works out?
This is your best video yet! Thanks for making this. Now I am going to be obsessed about getting a set like this.
Thanks… and sorry for that ;-)
I've watched a lot of your videos and I have to say, the amount of efforts you put for just one video and the information you provide is just incredible...
And that intro, it's just amazing and so good😂
Thanks man… appreciated. We always try our best and to improve from episode to episode.
The quality of your video are insane. Seriously thank you so much for this video !
Thanks man……… it is my pleasure… I wish it would pay a bit more
@@MediaDivision It will definetly pay in the long run ! And if you start a Patreon or something I will support !
@@7evive Thats nice....thanks man!!!!
I'm loving the effort&thought put into your episodes.Truly quality in design.
Keep up the good work.I look forward to seeing more historical themes.
Will try man… thanks a lot for your kindness and for hanging
Haven't seen such a wholesome content for an eon.
Thanks a lot man! Glad you like it.
wow your videos are incredible, blown away at the time and care involved! I have a bunch of the contax ziess lenses and didn't realize I could declick them! thank you!
Thanks man... totally our pleasure
Damn that was dope. I was fooled completely up until the close up. The lighting was the give away but wow was it close.
Thanks man... yeah... that was the closest we could get with the light we had available
absolute fantastic production and perfectly informing execution/script. hadn’t heard of yawl before and i’m amazed at that - you have a new fan. great work💎
Thanks David… nice of you to say. Glad to have you around
Thanks for becoming a supporter 😍😍😍David… you make it possible!
Genius, this was on another level. You made an impossible dream possible for the weekend warrior filmmaker. The value shared here is un-measurable. Thank YOU Nicholas for your time, hard work, and making this fun with your unique sense of humour 🍻
sniff… so king of you Richard… I would do it JUST for you ;-)))))))))
The quality of this TH-cam channel is top-notch, out of this world. A gift for the eye and a really impressive contribution to the world of videography/cinematography.
Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia.
Thanks a lot Oscar!!!! Kinnd of you to say! Greeting back from Europe!
This is a great video who needs film school when you have media vision.
Thanks Marcel... glad to be that for you!!!!
You are BY FAR the best channel of product reviews, how-to’s, format explanation and general cine topics. The quality of the visuals, the in-depth content, the way pf presenting it, the audio, the lighting, the specs...ALL! Really, its such a pleasure to watch high-quality content on the internet and you are pushing the bar way up in the stratosphere for others who do similar stuff. Definetly the best of the best.
We get every now and then bad comments under our stuff and you can tell when its trolls or pure envy. Criticism is good but one needs to know when one is good....and You are Good.
Oh, I am not discouraged by a bit of trolling… you can't get it right for everybody and I see TH-cam as a playground to at least get it right for us. As a creator yourself you can read analytics and you see how many people "walk by" and how far one is away from making money that buys more then an ice cream
The quality of this channel is surprising
Thanks you my dear Sir!!!
Absolutely crazy. This channel is so underrated. Very interested in these lenses, have heard many times about this but love the in depth look. Moved these lenses to a top on my list
Let's work to change that 😉spread the word… thanks a lot. Glad this episode had something for you.
I've had a set of slower cinemodded Contax lenses for a while and they're so freaking great.
Yeah… I have a few two, but the Super Speeds are even better
@@MediaDivision I believe it, but at the same time I bet if you put the 2.8 against the 1.4 nobody could tell a difference just like in this test 😉
Anyway, insanely good content, sir!
@@pogoprofilms of course not.... but under 2.8 is where the super speeds shine
so much effort behind this video! i'm thinking about buying the contax zeiss for photography but this was still very usefull!! thanks
Glad it was helpful for you Bernhard
I'm one minute in. This is one of the greatest videos I've ever seen.
Oh, thank you man.... that is very kind of you to say!
Been wanting to build a Contax Zeiss set for awhile now. Still aways from happening, but this video was an excellent reminder of why I'm such a fan of the look of those lenses!
thanks Virgil... have fun lens hunting
I have a 55mm 1.2 out for mod now, but would love to see compared against ridiculously expensive k35s.
thanks.... unfortunately that would be way too specific to appeal to an audience large enough. Thats the famous niche of a niche of a niche
@@MediaDivision you'd be surprised. Look up Christopher Probst, shot many commercials and Taylor Swift music videos with FDs. But that's okay with me, keep the demand and the prices down for the lenses :)
This is one of the best quality videos I have ever seen on YT. Great work.
Thanks a lot Claudio! That is nice to hear!! Thanks for watching
Perfect timing! I’ve been building my set of Contax Super Speeds after i stumbled upon a Contax Metabones 🙌🏼
Cosmic ;-))))))
Lot of work put into this video. It is much appreciated.
Indeed Richard… thanks a lot and thanks for hangng!
Man your videos make my life complete
And your comment made my life complete… thank you man!
I have probably watched this video about 10 times now... So much useful information and just so nicely made
I'm all for it... glad you get something out of it!!
Closest thing I have to even one of those is a 16mm f/1.4
Sigma sony e mount?
ZEISS lenses are the ultimate in photography. I use six for the Hasselblad V system and couldn't be happier with them. Simply stunning optics!
Surly great lenses and total dedication to the craft throughout history
They just don't make them like they use to. Quality and history.
This was an astounding video. The production professionalism is off the walls for the intro and the info is amazingly helpful. I just love your sense of humor touches. It really is great to see this level of content creation being made on this platform. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks a lot man!!!! Glad you like it… we will certainly try and hope it might pay of one day
Greetings from Jena Germany (where Zeiss is from) i really like this video I'm going on eBay right now to check the prizing.
Thanks a lot… Good hunting. These lenses where not produced in Jena but in western Germany (just so you know, which you probably do). We will release an episode featuring a f0.73 Jena Biotar in a month or two.
no Zeiss from "DDR" ☝️ the West-German or Japan are the one👌
Thank you so much for this beautiful presentation. Not only the technical content is fantastic but also done with such a talent, the picture quality is just amazing. I have looked several times and was even more impressed at last as I saw some more details I missed at first... Thanks.
You are very welcome! Thank you for your kind words… nice to have you around
Fabulous, and even a diaper joke! Thank you for this brilliant comparison!
Pleasure man... glad you liked it.
This has just become my favorite TH-cam channel. The work you're doing is amazing, beautiful and very informative videos. This is indeed quality content. Thank you!
Thanks a lot Steven… and thanks for hanging around! It's nice to know there are viewers like you out there
I got the AEJ version of the 50mm for cheap in an auction, but has a mark on the front that, doesn't affect the image in any way, bothers me so I'm selling that and trying to get a mint one as I'm seeing these as a lifetime investment.
good luck with the sale
Media Division thanks!
Danke!
Thanks Keith.... that nice. Thank you. I am very glad my videos have that effect for you. Give those oldies a new life
A tack sharp review, without looking clinical!
😝good one... thanks man!
as someone who has made independent features and music videos for over 15 years now, I have to say that this is one of the most epic channels out there!!
*video appears in subscriptions list*
Me: meh, i don't know, i'll check it out.
*post intro*
Me: holy crap, i'm totally watching this later!
Glad it excite you man… hope you didn't get disappointed
i reiterate what lots of people here have said : the production value and content of your videos are peerless. You and Juan Melara are why i come back to youtube!
Thanks a lot Christian... it is very nice to hear that we have that effect on you. Thanks for hanging.
Videos like this: Ahhh. I’m home.
Thanks Omar.... thats a nice comparison
Absolutely loved the video! Quality > quantity all the way!
Let's do something that TH-cam sees it the same way… tell me when you found out how?!?
First great work on the intro. Anything with The Shining or Kubrick's work I'm all for. Bravo! The only lens that caught my eye is the 15mm Contax Zeiss. It even looked amazing on the MFT sensor.
Thanks Rahum... I can't say that the 15mm is "better" in any way than the other focal lengths... maybe, you just like extreme wide lenses?
@@MediaDivision Yes like I said it caught MY eye
Media Division: "This lenses are adaptable to all types of mounts - well maybe except Nikon F mount"
Me: having a F mount camera, looking on eBay to sell it and buy any other mount camera
I think you guys just won the Internet. I have never seen any sort of instructional video/educational video with such production values, wry sense of humor and great testing. WELL DONE! You've also made me want to acquire some of these lenses, they seem like a best kept secret.
Thanks a lot Daniel…. Very glad you are entertained. Nice to have you around and good luck hunting down some sweet glass.
Excellent production, information and entertaining delivery style. This is the first video I stumbled across from you guys but you've got me convinced already. Have my sub and membership already!
That is so kind of you David... you make all the difference. We are happy you found us and that our episodes are for you... we do this for you and others like you! Thank you so much
Man. One of the best channels on TH-cam. Thanks a million for doing this.
Our pleasure Marc.... thanks a lot for hanging around!!
Another EPIC production.
... and. a bit older... glad you still enjoy Sean
Your production value is masterful! If you keep this type of content up I'm sure you are going to explode! You will have hit a tipping point fast, you've gained my sub for sure.
Nice to have you Troy.... tipping point? We will see... this stuff is just sooo niche :-(
I went to the Kubrick exhibition in London and they had a huge collection of lenses out. Some of them were other photo lenses such as the Takumar 135
Sure.... Kubrick loved to use photography lenses and to mod them himself. He is basically the inventor of the Canon K35
The production value of this video makes it a pleasure to watch regardless of the content (which is also good).
Thanks a lot Ross... thats what we are going for indeed
Man, I'm fascinated about the resolution of your amazing work!!!
Thanks Rick.... always trying to get the best possible results
Damn man, the whole Contax lineup will skyrocket in price after this. It used to be such a sweet secret among the lens nerds... Great video btw, wish there was a photography chanel with this level of production and information on TH-cam. Amazing job!
Thanks man… prices usually only sore for a month or so… sharing is caring ;-)……… and don't forget… your lenses are more valuable now!I can't believe there is non… otherwise, tell them all to watch our channel ;-) most things can be translated to the other side of the river.
@@Swadaable Photo work is very different and I believe you that they perform different... for filming I guess it doesn't matter in a meaningful way
Phenomenal job! Can't believe, that you making your videos for free) The overall quality is mind-blowing for TH-cam!
Would love to do it for Netflix and get paid ;-) Thanks man!!
Bravo, keep the great high-end content coming!
Thanks Markus … it is not all day that a roman emperor makes such a nice compliment… ave… and, we will certainly try
that intro + the quality deserves a sub
Thanks man... nice to have you
