norton company in financial trouble owe 38 million pounds i think their bikes are too expensive average young guy cant afford
Freddie your're getting better and better. Thanks for visiting Bike Shed and showing us around ❤
That’s very kind of you to say so, thank you Michal
Great show that one isn't it - shame I couldn't make it this year (although funnily enough Norton didn't invite me!!)....nice to see some familiar faces around. Maybe see you there again next year....
A bad review of a Norton 🤔😀
Oh dear, how sad, never mind. You reap what you sow.....
That's the price of honesty Andy. Carry on telling it like it is though - they need honest feedback even if it is bad.
I'm not on their Christmas card list either 🤣
A sacrifice worth making for honesty....
25:20 I actually detailed this bike prior to the show (and the one heading to America for Biltwell).
This is Jim from Jim’s Detailing btw.
Great video Freddie. Look forward to seeing how it went at their workshop.
Nice video, was super cool to see Darcy and the Ol man. They are very cool guys.
One of my favourite channels👌🏻👌🏻
Freddie, Old man, and Darcy. UK's finest motorcycle TH-camrs.
Missenden Flyer..
Thank you! 🙌🏻
And of course The Wurks keeping Freddie on the road
Seen a few bits of coverage from the Bike Shed Show now Freddie, but you've knocked it out of the park. Great interviews, and loads more bikes than I've seen on any others. Superb work sir.
That CB 750 is one great looking bike! Brown on green!!! The tool role looks perfect on it.
Great video as always, although was disappointed to see you just skip past the British legendary Holy grail, the Vincent Black Shadow, a British bike made in Stevenage from 1948 -1955 and was the fastest production bike in the world up to the mid 70's despite production having stopped nearly 20 years prior, and still wining races and being raced by the like of John Surtees in the 60's, and written about by Hunter T Thompson. 1971 novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, he wrote "If you rode the Black Shadow at top speed for any length of time, you would almost certainly die. That is why there are not many life members of the Vincent Black Shadow Society." and not cheap these days with good example's going for up to £90,000.
Damn it, this is the best concise overview I’ve ever heard for the Black Shadow! I’ll pin this comment, thank you so much🙌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs I only know what i do as my wife grandfather worked in the factory then then went onto design auto gearboxes for the E type after their demise and he has so many stories to tell, and i just love to listen.
John Settees? Bet he always sat down on the job.
@@PDCRed His moto was sofa so good 🙂
60k for a Norton? 'Norton your nelly'
As an over 80 still m/cycling since 16 years , I hate that last orange 'bike' , it is everything a realm bike isn't !
You should get Maeving to loan you a test bike Freddie 😉
Hipster heaven (or Hell). I think you should tell people what the reason(s) for the show is. Having looked at your vid, I have no idea. You seemed to walk past some stunning bikes and paid attention to........things less worthy. Oh well, it's hipster season now. So, get out and dust down your Belstaffs.
Prickster (hipster) hell.
With increased ticket prices this year I couldn’t justify visiting, but thanks Freddie for showing us round.
A real pleasure to meet you Freddie, we’re brain storming ideas for a collab 🤔…
My experience of EV's is that they are the unexpected asthmatic sibling, that take hours to recover after the mildest of journeys, nobody really wanted.
Oh, people will want them after the legal bans to operate combustion engines go into effect. Better to ride on electricity than to not ride. The only problematic thing is touring, mainly because the infrastructure to support EV's is still lacking (combustion engine bikes/cars would be 100% useless without a gazillion gas stations everywhere).
@@KimmoJaskari EV's are so good that they need "legal bans" to make people use them. There is the "asthmatic sibling nobody really wanted".
@@KimmoJaskariperhaps but there are a gazillion gas stations everywhere 😂
Pulling heavy batteries out of a bike is not my future.
Fred, you know that was usernamekate and Duke of blonde on the Norton stand don't you? Lol
Norton making some awesome stuff nice to see a British manufacturer still out there
Norton lost £38m last year. More people are going to get fingers burnt buying one of these. They need to be warned.
The owners are investing in the business including trying to rectify the past issues and developing new products so it's reasonable to take a huge loss in the early days. As long as they stick with it they should be ok
Great to see Shoogly Shed Euan’s XJR1300 on the video Freddie, well deserved, he also built my ‘Musashi’ Vmax, hope to get down for the Friday evening next year, best to go and M, JB 🏴
Great to see you at the bike shed show and keep up the good work on the channel and an added bonus for my brother and me was we are on your film from the show the part just after the chopper bikes two old boys pointing at the bike looking forward to more content on the channel Steve and Andy.
Great video Freddie. And fantastic to see my shed build with the tool roll on TH-cam. 14:18 Build number 2 has already started - a 1980 CB900 F Supersport.
What a stunning bike for a 1st build, chapeau to you sir👏👏
@@TheNorthernClassicRider thank you. It was a fun build.
Really enjoyed that, but I would have loved to see a little more coverage of the old sports bikes you scanned past.
Love those K series BMW based customs. Something about them that lends a neo-futuristism to any custom despite being from the 80s.
Glad u interviewed the young Scotsman have been following, his vlog very interesting 🤔 nice video 📸
I’ve just started watching his channel. He comes across very well and his build’s great👌🏻👌🏻
Shoogly Shed is a fantastic builder and lovely guy.
Is it true that Norton are in a load of debt.. if so. Stay well away.
That Honda chopper was beautiful. I expected him to say it was more than 20k.
your bonnie looks beautiful m8
The Yamaha xj1300 is my favourite bike of the show. Its totally my type of motorcycle
Thank you! That means a lot!
@@ShooglyShedMotors oh I had to take a screen print of your bike,.it's beautiful and I know it's going to be ridden.
Thank you for adding beauty to the show.
Really enjoyed that Freddie 🏴🏴🏴
Thanks John- some very strong Scottish representation there🏴
how does the maervin compare to a 150 mpg 125 ?
Extremely good question. I’ll try and borrow one and find out
Now I’ve passed my CBT I feel like I can actually visit these shows as genuine rider…( although one who will admittedly work his way up to the full license) 😂
It was great seeing the stunning Norton bikes, a true display of British craftsmanship. I wonder how long it will be till they follow Triumphs lead and sub out their bike building to a low wage Asian country!
Dont drive 5 hours home at 2am after spending all day working ....get BnB hotel something spend night .....driving tired aint worth risk
gonna do a video dedicated solely to the bonnie? been waiting for a video of you going over it and talking about every new change. feel that people who didnt see the live stream probably felt a bit underwhelmed seeing you suddenly have the bike
Classic Legends who own BSA also own the Jawa brand btw...I'm not sure why they haven't tried bringing in that brand into the UK...they're a rage here in India! Of we do have some history with them cos they were also here in the 60s all the way up to the 80s after which they folded until Classic Legends revived the marque!
Sir, your channel is a great treasure for the real bike enthusiasts who doesnt like any other bullsh*t and idiot things as other vloggers.. or say reviewers do.
That’s very kind of you to say so, thank you sir
Thanks Freddie & Missing Monika.....Great look around without the sore feet...lol...some wonderful craftsmen in the house....
My first visit on the Saturday, to be honest a waste of £45 (entrance and 13th floor of the car park), looks nice on the video, but on the Saturday and Sunday, they crammed in as many people in as they could. Dont think I will bother again. However nice video.
It was a great show again at bikeshed.
Really loved Andrew's honda and he is a gent.
Thanks again for stopping and chatting with me and Jayne don't forget to tell Monika about the theatre tickets lol.
Great video as always 🏍️🏍️🏍️
It was a pleasure to meet you, Malcolm! Andrew is a gent and I think there may be a buyer for the Honda. Hugely appreciate it re the theatre tickets🙌🏻🙌🏻
It's a pity that the show wasn't on the bank holiday Monday too. If it's that crowded then an extra day might make sense.
I knew an old biker (ex-Hells Angel) who restored old bikes and had a 1920's Indian in his living room. I'd wake up next to it in the morning after parties at his place.
Love the bike shed in Whitechapel it’s the only reason I pop into London on my bike for a coffee! A few weeks ago I bumped into Joe from the Wurks with he’s wife Emily a wonderful smashing couple & another excellent channel to watch!
The trip around the Bike Shed was just ace! I was so impressed by some of the builds and shear attention to detail. So it's it's a big thanks from me Freddie for that! 👀
With increased ticket prices this year I couldn’t justify visiting, but thanks Freddie for showing us round.
What a great place for a motorcycle show !
Freddie, we met at the Friday bash and discussed you trying out a rotary Norton. You took my number. Let me know if you still want to take a ride. I can be found on LinkedIn too. Rupert
thought that honda hardtail was quite reasonably priced
The Maeving is brilliant but could do with tubeless tyres. Gopod to see the Bonneville back on the road. Nick
Notice the style for no front mudguard. Cute. The rider drowned in mud and wet. Cute. Or ape bars , oh my arms hurt. Are these people serious ? No they're posers.
maeving has the looks and the ease of charging that make it a good city bike. 7-8k is expensive but much easier to swallow than a zero at 12k
I don’t go to bike shows anymore. So it’s good to be able to see the bikes on TH-cam. I enjoy the custom bikes that people have spent ages putting together. To me that’s art. Thank you Freddie. 🙂👍
The Bikeshed Show is well worth a visit imo....it pretty much sets the bar for custom motorcycle events in the UK.
The Nortons look cool, didn't they just end up in court for some kind of retirement scheme and then lose a bunch of money recently? I don't hear much about them where I live.
Hi Freddie...not first today. Nicely done as always, Monika and your tool bag complementing the custom build beautifully. 👍👍👍👍
Well done guys I really enjoyed watching your travels 😃
Verry cool. My bike was heading there, until second gear collided with some, or all of the others.
Not sure about the electric bike, can’t force myself to call it a motorcycle, a great video as always Freddie
Excellent video! Attending this show is a bucket-list item for sure!
Wait wait, Norton is still in business??? How many more quarter losses can they report before India runs out of money.
Oh they’re still here! I’ll try and do a factory tour soon. I recently saw their annual losses- TVS will be making some changes I can imagine
4.00 usernamekate and dukeofblonde in shot 😂
Love a bike show but as a past exhibitor at classic bike shows it just got way too expensive with all the overheads involved so sadly I no longer participate.
7k for the Maving thats a lot of money for what it is.
Corporate event… what happened to the shed?
We've been doing the same event for 11 years now, since 2013 (this was show 13) and have been working with sponsor brands since 2014 (otherwise we'd have to double the ticket prices) - but it's still directly managed and run by the founders and the member volunteers, with a celebration of mostly shed built bikes and independant pros - and the format and feel is identical to our first Tobacco Dock show in 2015.
It did seem slightly empty this year, I was trying to work out who was missing - Malle and Bolt weren't there were they?
I went a bit bike-blind after a while, they all started blurring together. There were some standouts and I loved the increasing number of classics, clearly restomodding is a growing thing. And of course we're all getting that bit older and creakier so we're seeing more early adventure bikes appearing, even if they're dressed up as Dakar replicas. How long I wonder before people are welding the subframes back onto old R80s and hunting ebay for the original plastics?
Overall, I still think it's the best bike show the UK has to offer, Vikki, Dutch and the team really show how to do it, from the displays to the food to the music to the venue, they make you wonder why on earth you'd want to spend time in a warehouse of an exhibition centre in the depths of winter.
But oh, Freddie, Freddie, have you learnt nothing. Indicator off at you turn into the Shed, otherwise your cool disappears quicker than the steam from your barrista coffee.
I wondered exactly this; Merla Moto and a couple of other clothing brands weren’t there this year, and I couldn’t figure out why (I’d be genuinely interested to know)
@@FreddieDobbs Hi All, We did lose a couple of regular brands this year due to clashing commitments, which is standard each year as things ebb and flow, but we also added several new brands and companies who haven't ben before or are new. Some retail brands are managed by distributers who chose who to bring and who to leave behind, so losing one often means gaining another.
In terms of seeming more "empty", we spaced all the bikes out better this year. in 2022 and 2023 we felt that we crammed too many shed builds into the great gallery, all in long rows, which made them hard to view and photograph - so we moved more bikes downstairs onto the vaults and used more of our 'hexagon' displays to give each bike more space. We were also a little more selective this year, as we find it hard to say No to nice people. Last year there were 313 bikes, this year just over 270 - but bear in mind they are almost all new builds, and still had to get through our selection criteria - which we think is a staggering amount of fresh metal to see - and it still takes a whole day. Hope that helps answer your questions.
As always great video and great motoshow. I cant wait the next episode. Thanks.
Really appreciate it, thanks Diego🙌🏻🙌🏻
So funny, you crashed usernamekate's photos of the Norton.
Loved Andrew’s passion! His bike looks amazing!
Strangely I was more interested in the architecture of the building and its history. What a great use of old space
Really enjoyed this episode - like the alchemy ( what passion) and also saw a glimpse of a XT 600 that I crossed Australia on. The Bonnie looks glorious -- regards - Rupert and KTM in Karoo
I LOVED ATHAT XT600 too- a real over lander💪🏼💪🏼
Good walk round, I didn't make it this year so enjoyed your take on the bikes and the video walk round.
Thanks Dale- it was an excellent! I can imagine you’re thinking about your next trip🤘🏼🏍️
@@FreddieDobbs off at midnight to catch the ferry at Dover at 7am for a weekend in Holland, back Sunday night 👍
Charley Boorman Boo , Henry Cole would have been more entertaining LOL

Well Freddie did it again another well informed video

I’ve never come across this, thanks Tony. I’ll definitely visit👌🏻
not been / watch old bike car bits utube ... looks genuine, maybe a good video if special bike day sales event ---... good luck ..
So disappointed I didn’t see you there!
Loved the video but good old TH-cam decided to hit me with 16 ads in midst of the video. Really ruined the experience a bit. My hope is that my viewing got you a good amount of revenue.
You need AdBlock mate.👍
@@longjonwhite does it work on TH-cam videos?
Just get TH-cam premium. Best money i spend
I think the content creators can choose how many ads and when they happen. But if Freddie gets some money out of it, I’m okay with it.
@@yahoodlums Ad's are inserted by YT . The more successful the channel the more adverts.. Nothing personal, it's business
That was really great and the Bike Shed looks like an amazing building. I hope Maeving do well with their bikes. Very smart having the removable batteries as well since it will be make sense if you live in an apartment or flats and was glad to see Charley Boorman there even if only for a few seconds. Looks like you have scored another subscriber. All the best from South Australia.
The size and heft of battery packs are one of the few reasons why removable batteries can be problematic, but those Maeving batteries do look very sensibly designed. 80 mile range is plenty for commuting - heck, 40 is for many. Just like the flashlights of old - it just makes sense to be able to remove and replace batteries easily. I would imagine literally the only maintenance required on those bikes, too, is new chains and tires from time to time. With enough cash, getting two sets of batteries would be possible too I imagine - put one set to charge, use the other, then swap them out when you get home and done.
Thanks for this, Freddie. Very much enjoyed all the beautiful bikes. Wish we had something comprable here in Toronto or Montreal.
P.S. Love your sofa !
LOL I like how you just skipped the video on the Maeving electric bike when he starts explaining. When you ask the price and range.
Freddie welcome to biking world 🌍
I've never particularly been an electric bike fan but Maeving have hit on great idea with those easily removable batteries. The question would be how much do they cost and how long do they last . . .my thought is you could keep a couple of extra ones on charge for quick changeover's when needed.
One of lads went to this bike show. He came back saying he couldn’t believe how many bikes riding around London don’t have number plates
You do so much for biking in the UK Freddie just by making these amazing videos with Monica. Thanks.
Great video. I was there from Friday at 7pm for the full weekend and it was busy then. Sunday wasn’t too manic this year was it! It was great to see such a variety of bikes and better still if you’re able to chat to the owner to discover how much effort has gone into the build! 😁👍
Great footage Freddie & Monika. Some very talented and imaginative builders out there. Hope you’re enjoying the Bonnie… 😊😊
I saw some stunning Nortons and Royal Enfields. Thanks for bringing us along, Freddie.
Hi Freddie your so lucky . We dont get shows like this in Ireland . The Dublin show is good but its in Dublin 4 hours away from me so its so difficult to get there . We need more shows and over in the west of Ireland . Galway has so many good venues but everything here is Dublin based . Great stream Freddie many thanks 👍👍👍
I would rather be riding.
That's why the indicators look cheap! Something has to give! Condensation in the clocks however is a step too far! That upset me on my classic 350 but that wasn't 15k.
Great video Freddie … I could not make it this year, but it looks like this show is going from strength to strength ..bike heaven! 👊
You shouldn't have skipped that CB750 and Black Shadow at 8:12 and 8:27 respectively 🥰
Mavic has it together! Now, if there can just be a universal battery that all bikes use, exchange the battery instead of waiting for charging at "filling" stations would be such a better way to stay on your way.
Great walk around, cheers! You opened up Aladdin´s cave and/or paradise for us. A lot of stunningly beautiful bikes out there. Well done mate!
Enjoyed that Freddie. It’s not really me - but then I’m a child of the 80s and 90s and sports bikes and handling will always trump bling and paint jobs for me.
I turned off at the electric bike
That ducati cafe racer 😍. Hope it goes into production as I’ll have a new dream bike.
I assume that hard tail bobber custom got snapped up for 6750. That's a piece of art for that money!
Loved it all. The show looked incredible. The attendees engaged. And you Freddy are a great MC. Top video. Cheers!
