@@stephentrout7879 It did have a bit of an appetite for I think "Mobil 1" oil. Not quite as bad as its petrol drinking habit. What always "got me" , was the "afterburner" on the OEM exhaust manifold. It wasn't there to make it go faster, in fact it restricted performance. The "afterburrner" was just putting in some extra air into the exhaust gases to help burn off the fuel that had gone straight through the combustion chamber. i.e. it helped with emissions, and made the OEM exhaust pipe one of the dearest on any car at the time. (about £1500 ish) Janspeed offered an exhaust, that just threw away the after burner, and let the unburnt petrol out. Half the price (£750 ish ) of the official Mazda one , and it got a performance increase , IIRC of about 20 to 30 BHP. I never fitted the janspeed one, I got rid of the car before the exhaust fell apart !

Great interview & discussion of the event!
These road racers are a different breed.

Still great race. I fell out of my chair ,leaning over so far to make the corners.
Best stay free I've ever seen and I've been here a long time this is the key we'll beat then at ther own game
What a great film
Wow I would love to see a commentary version like this of every year of the TT. It’s so great hearing the backstory while watching bits of the race and hearing all of the details of what was good and what was bad. Was the engine going to make it?? ETC
Is there any more episodes like this one??
HIZZY 🏆 🥇
'White Charger'
@@kmc7355 Yep ! :)
Hizzy had a supreme natural talent, really the 2 wheeled version of the late Jim Clark [ another fellow borderer ] When Hizzy's head was right he was unbeatable by anyone anywhere.
You know, I bet that 120mph lap at 5am was something awesome to see.... I need to build a time machine.
fantastic content
Greatest moment for me meeting Foggy, and the funny thing is- he would not have a clue meeting me or a single memory of it lmfao 🤣
great race all over, love it.
For me the first bikes I remember seeing on TV were the Captain America bike in Easy Rider and Evel Knievel's XR-750
I love Fogarty's overt thoughts and feelings. I think the same way.
Love the 💗 helmet 😂, darn I should have chose the pink striped Arai myself 😅
Norton was indeed a rocket but unreliable. Rotary engine and produced 220bhp! mental.
history fades of course, in the 60ts a ride PHIL REED achieved the first Racer to break the 100 MPH average at the Isle Of Man, and so honored to watch these amazing Racers on the amazing development motor cycles, Heros all racers in the Isle of ManTT races
WOW that was awesome!!
God, Foggy's scary. Seriously though, in 1991 and 1992 me and my Dad drove over from Yorkshire to Llandudno's Great Orme where we could pick up the Manx Radio commentary. Both races were incredible but I think the Honda v Honda duel just pipped it for me.
I had a Mazda RX7 from the late 1980s back in the early 90s. Yeah it drank fuel too . That's rotary engines for you !
Did it drink oil as well?
@@stephentrout7879 It did have a bit of an appetite for I think "Mobil 1" oil. Not quite as bad as its petrol drinking habit.
What always "got me" , was the "afterburner" on the OEM exhaust manifold.
It wasn't there to make it go faster, in fact it restricted performance. The "afterburrner" was just putting in some extra air into the exhaust gases to help burn off the fuel that had gone straight through the combustion chamber. i.e. it helped with emissions, and made the OEM exhaust pipe one of the dearest on any car at the time. (about £1500 ish)
Janspeed offered an exhaust, that just threw away the after burner, and let the unburnt petrol out. Half the price (£750 ish ) of the official Mazda one , and it got a performance increase , IIRC of about 20 to 30 BHP. I never fitted the janspeed one, I got rid of the car before the exhaust fell apart !
Foggy, king of the back handed compliment.....
Great film, fantastic interviews
Never a Foggy fan but I've sort of warmed to him and understand his drive after watching this
Wat a great great pair of riders 🏍️🏍️♥️♥️
Foggy had about half an OWO1 left at the finish. lol
Respect !
Didn't you used to be Marty McCloy from Newtownards ?
In 1973 Peter Williams. Won the Formula 750 TT on a Norton of his own design. That was the last British bike win before Norton did it in 92.
Fantastic!
