  • Do off-road tires really make a difference?
    What effect do agressive tires have on fuel economy? How much will wrangler duratrac tires have on fuel economy? In this video we find out!
    In my videos I talk about my experience daily driving my 2020 F450. My truck has updated 6.7 Powerstroke with 1,050 LB-FT of Torque and 475hp. I also feature my 2019 F250 with the 6.2 L gas v8. Comment below and thanks for watching!

    Test Loop: 28.2 Miles Driven
    On-road Tire 16.97 MPG (1.661G)
    off-road Tire 13.96 MPG (2.020G)
    Total Difference ~ 18% Savings
    What would make things even better is seeing how much better MPG a 33" On-road will do compared to a 33" off-road

      Biggest difference is the gas that the other person uses to have to pull you out 😂 but I can see tire spin been being a factor.

    My ram 2500 Cummins lost 2-3 mpg going from stock street tires to 35in mud tires. I gained most of it back when some exhaust parts fell off

    Fill up at cooler Temperatures. Fuel is more dense at lower Temperatures. Also, be aware what Blend of Fuel you are getting. Summer and Winter Blends for example. Different Blends will affect Power, Performance, and Economy.

      I love the look too. I really wanted to put 35s on the 7.3. but now it seems as if that would be a waste! Maybe one fuel prices go down a little more

    I kept my tires all the same size but I did get more aggressive tread pattern. I run 10ply toyo open country at3 on my f150 3.5 eco boost I sit consistently around 16-18 regular driving. When I’m hauling a full load of wood it goes down to about 12-13 due to the weight. I never did pay attention to what it was before when I had factory tires. But I’m pleased with my fuel consumption so far and I love how well the tires are wearing. They also are great light off road tires. I would not want to do any hard off reading in them but they do great if you leave the road for drift roads or even forest roads.

    The biggest way to save fuel- SLOW DOWN! We have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, V6, 4” lift, 35” BFG Mud Terrain running 32 psi. At 65mph- 20- 21 mpg, 70mph- 17 mpg. Our 2019 F350drw with 6.7 PowerStroke and 4.10 gears- 70mph- 17mpg, 75mph- 15mpg.

    so dope, I really appreciate the effort. we are making the decision of switching to on-road tires for our agriculture company because fuel is so expensive nowadays. the off road tires are needed on some days but if we can save significant money that's probably what will do

    I have a 2013 F150 5.0L V8 with a 2” lift on 275/70/18 Goodyear duratrac tires that are 50% used up i’m getting 14.9 MPG using the 88 fuel (blue handle) at sheets here in PA currently $3 a gallon. I also have a K&N cold air intake, Borla dual exhaust, and an oil catch can.

    I do a long cross country trip and i bring my V8 truck. I have wrangler ultra terrain ATs an i get maybe 19mpg-20 with a added tuner. Im almost wondering if i should get highway tires mainly for that trip and swap them out here and there depending on my trips.

  • @Brandonpowerstroke
    @Brandonpowerstroke ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did a quick calculation. And I went from about 19-20 highway to 16-17 with my 37” tires, 6” lift, and got rid of that HUGE air dam under the bumper. Also Put the tremor valance on

    • @Step-n-Wolf
      @Step-n-Wolf 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The air dam is to increase mileage, not the other way around. Given the changes you made, it is obvious you are into looks vs mileage.

    Lol yeah they’re louder. I’ve got Toyo Open Country MT 38x15.5R20’s on my F250. They (tires) get louder as they break in and lose some depth as well, but you get used to it and don’t even notice it really until you get into something with all terrains on it.
    My dash “average mpg” shows 11.9 and my truck also has an 8” BDS suspension lift and an SCT programmer on ‘street’ tune.

    I have a bone stock 23 f250 7.3 Godzilla with 4.30 gears. I've got a little over 5000 miles on it. I can't get better than 9 mpg with it around town. It has twin alternators, but it couldn't affect the milage that much. Jacked up the front wheels and made absolutely sure the hubs weren't engaged even though they are set on "Auto". I can't imagine that 4.30 gears would destroy gas milage that badly. Any ideas?

    I check my MPG with the pump but I fill it up till it’s spilling out the fill tube. I want to SEE the fuel level. I don’t worry about fuel expansion because I only do that right before a trip and I may be wrong but I believe diesel expands less that gasoline

    • @DS-TRUCKS
      @DS-TRUCKS  ปีที่แล้ว

    Good job on the video but I am calling bs on the gallons used on the continental tire portion. The dash said 28.2miles and you used 1.66 gallons equals 16.9 mpg. However the dash said 15.1mpg. I definitely feel like you didnt do a second click at the pump or something. The duratrac portion the mpg computer was almost spot on.

    Your vehicles speed is more accurate then the GPS on the phone; you have a delay with phone.
