How to work with ratio - sharing money GCSE question.
This is a fairly standard GCSE question and will be usually grade C at around 3 marks.
"Three women won a total of £360.00.
They share the money in the ratio 7:3:2
Donna receives the largest amount.
Work out the amount Donna received."

@@3minutemaths $x is divided among 3 people ( call them A,B and C) in the ratio 2:3:7. We know that C gets $15 more than B. what is the value of x ?

@@loganhayne6422 Hi - I've slightly changed the numbers to make it a little easier:
If A:B:C
2:3:6
it means that, if they share $11, A gets $2, B gets $3 and C gets $6
In this case C gets $3 more than B
So, if actually, C gets $15 more than B .... it's the same as saying 5x more.
Once you've got 5x, you just multiply each of the original amounts by 5:
A:B:C
10:15:30
So, C now gets $15 more than B.
