      @@kahki2704 I actually don’t have a PSU for it yet. I’m waiting a little while before I start building in it but I wanted to buy the NR200 before they ever went out of stock as I know a lot of SFF cases go in and out of circulation every year. I think once I have a good amount of money for everything I’m going to need then I’ll start buying all my PC parts. I have a 2080 Ti I’m using in an eGPU setup (Alienware 17 R5 w/ an i9-8950HK, 32 GB RAM, and the 2080 Ti is in the Alienware Graphics Amplifier), and I’ve had to slowly buy everything for that over the span of a few years. The CPU right now is my limiting factor but it’s serviceable.
      I’m probably looking at at least around another $800-1200 US for CPU, RAM, PSU, MoBo, case fans, CPU cooler. I know I’m going to be spending quite a bit but at least I’m covered with the GPU.

For example, I have an M1 and I wouldn't change to the NR200 and they are very similar and even the NR200 being better in different areas like temp and price, but for me, the component compatibility is more important or even the placement of the PSU.

  • @bern1268
    @bern1268 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I’ve actually just got the Meshlicious, changes to 4-slot gpu, used the GPU card mount (on the bottom) that is the furthest from the motherboard, and you can use long motherboard stand-off extensions to mount the pcie riser to where the gfx now is. There is now a big gap between the motherboard tray and the back of the GFX card.

    Great video as always, happy to see my NR200 up there ^^

  • @Weezedog
    @Weezedog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    In the SSUPD Meshlicious, can you un-screw the PCIe riser from the chassis and slide the GPU over to occupy the 2nd and 3rd, or 3rd and 4th PCIe slots so there would be a gap behind the GPU? Seems like given how the riser cable is bent, there should be enough slack to slide the GPU over a bit. Possibly could even use some brass standoffs on the chassis to move the riser over.

  • @niller8p
    @niller8p 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is anecdotal, but I had an NZXT H1 which I modified a bit to add fans and even cut part of the case to give more airflow. I removed the SSD tray and cut that part of the inside panel and that helped keep the temps from getting horrifying but it wasn't a massive improvement (high 70's, low 80's under load). On top of that the extra fans were louder on that case because they had to spin constantly to cool things down.
    I bought an NR200 and now I can keep my RTX 3080 FE under 70C and the case is pretty silent most of the time. If I had the patience to wait for another case option or even print to put in a custom loop I might have, but as it is I could get the NR200 quickly and the whole process was pretty smooth to move to a new case (I didn't keep the AIO or PSU from the H1 which could have worked potentially)

    I’d take a little wider case to avoid the riser cable. For one, they do not support PCIE 4.0 and higher, which will limit the longevity of such a case. For cases this expensive, modular front I/O to avoid outdated USB ports would be nice too. It helps justify the cost if you can use it for 10 years.

    I have a 3070FE in an H1 and while it worked OK while stock, I modded my case to make it work better. I removed the 2x SSD mount and cut a section from the center panel. Folding it back, it makes a decent duct that allows the pass through air to quickly exit the rear of the case without much resistance. I saw a ~6% decrease in fan speed under max load, which is a decent difference in noise. I still have the blower fan shooting into my desk, but i also plan on customizing my desk to give clear cable and air exits down into the space under my desk. we'll see how much it improves after that.
    not sure if it can support a 3080 FE, but it would definitely be an improvement.

    They are useful just if you really don't have space or you want some kind or portability.

    You should do a video about the 3080 fe in the ghost s1 and a meta customs RTX 3000 spine. It makes thermals and airflow much better. Kind of like what the formd T1 does

    I paired my NR200 with my 3-slot ROG Strix 3080 OC and an NZXT X62. It runs so quiet 🤫 and cool 😎. Especially with the Arctic P14 and P12 fans.

    NR200 my choice. U can pair (short) MATX board, ATX PSU, GTX 1650/1660s 2 fan. Budget small build case.

    I have a Dan A4 with a 3080 FE. I offset the riser from the spine by adding motherboard standoffs to the screws to give it more room for air to flow. My temps and sound levels are perfectly fine, even for crypto mining Ethereum - maybe a bit of hyperbole at the end of the video? ;)

    Sorry for reawakening this Video. The Sliger SM560 has a triple slot GPU mount. Monst 30FEs have a two slot desing. Putting the card, with an adapter, into second and third slot, would allow one slot behind the GPU to be free. Do you think that would help with the FEs cooler design?

    Will you be testing blower fan design 3080's (Gigabyte Turbo, Asus Turbo and GALAX Classic)? Well, if it will be possible to get your hands on one of those.
    Very curious if those blower fans are capable at cooling the cards while maintaining at reasonable noise levels in SFF cases.

    Do you consider the Silverstone SG-13 in your tests? I don't see this case quite often on your channel and it's, in my mind, a good challenger in term of performance/price compared to the other itx cases. Great video 👍🏽

    I've seen some good spin mods for the Louqe were a cut behind the psu is used for better airflow. Worth looking into for those lucky Ghost S1 owners who manage to also attain a FE 3080.

    Ali, if your PSU supports it, you should get a direct to 12 pin cable from the manufacturer. Many like Seasonic, Corsair, and EVGA make them. It cuts out a lot of bulk from the adapter, and looks quite a bit better.

    I hope Sliger changes to Gen 4 PCIE cables. Would love to see this data on the SM580 with the bifurcated cable and the GPU in the furthest slot.

    Wonder why you didnt just offset the GPU in the Meshlicious case. Theres so much space there that you can put standoffs to move it closer to the panel away from the motherboard.

      The LTT review of Winter one was a wasted opportunity. It needed Ali and his experience to do it justice. The airflow should blow all other sff cases away.

    I honestly cannot wait to build a new system in the nr200 or whatever revision of it that will be out when component prices and availability finally goes back to normal next year or the year after. I dream of an all white and nickel setup. And I dream of finding someone with a heavy grail hhk upgrade kit that is willing to sell it. I’d give someone 1500 bucks for it. Possibly 2k if the keyboard is included and it has custom caps that I like.

    Does the Meshlicious not allow you to offset the GPU so it's mounted closer to the side panel with a gap behind it? Seems like that would be ideal.
    That said, I'm not a fan of sandwich style cases. I'd rather have the mobo lying flat and the GPU right where it's supposed to be... :)

  • @Keavon
    @Keavon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you do a video testing a cutout in the spine behind the PSU of the Ghost S1, with standoffs to keep the PSU as far from the GPU and close to the side panel as possible?

    NR200 wins for me for not needing a riser cable and proper fans underneath the GPU whilst allowing liquid cooling the CPU.

    This might be a stupid question; where to get psu cables that bend properly in a SFF case? The standard are very unruly and all I find are extensions.
