I love the use of the microtonal/non-Western scales. I love Civ 6's grand modern orchestrations, but one thing it loses is these microtones which are only present in Civ 6's Ancient Era themes, and even then the pieces chosen have to be ones that translate well to be 12TET-ified for the later eras. But here the microtones can just stand on their own. I really notice the microtonal tuning here and for the Khmer Empire.
Civ 7 themes seems richer and have more freedom to utilize their source inspiration fully. Like Khmer's Civ 6 theme felt really limited to how it should sound to be authentic. It ended up sounding kinda generic. But Civ 7 actually managed to compose a piece that's basically what Cambodians play to their traditional Apsara dances. Hella authentic, if you ask me. I can't wait what they have in store for Indonesia.
I'll be honest, for me in Civ 6, the only music worth listening to is the ancient music and ambient music. Why did they insist on using basically the same set of instruments for medieval and industrial? And for gods sake, atomic was just lazy.
@@beefusdoesstuff5194 Ancient Era Theme of Japan was incredibly good. Medieval to Atomic sounded really cliché, tbh. But I guess their Industrial Era theme was still pretty good, I guess.
I mean, personally I really loved the full orchestral Industrial themes of Civ 6. And the Civ 6 Khmer theme was actually one of my favorites. But at the same time, it's not fully "authentic" and loses nuances like microtones; Civ 7 seems to lean more in the direction of authenticity in that way.
Hititas seriam legais.

I’m really intrigued by who the modern era Middle Eastern civ will be since we’ve never had a modern civ from that region, but with this new civ changing system they’re basically obligated to add one! I doubt that it will be the ottomans, it would be a disservice to add them during their “sick man of Europe” period. I also doubt that it will be Hejaz or the Saudis for modern political reasons (even if i personally think the pan Arab revolts could be a cool gameplay influence) My guess is it will be the kingdom of Iran, representing Qajar Iran and the later kingdom of Iran, the 1700s up to the Islamic revolution in 1979.
Keep in mind that “modern” also includes the early modern - as evidenced by the Mughal Civ. So it could very well be the Ottomans. Or there might not be one.
@@coyotelong4349I would love if we get an Indonesian Muslim kingdom for exploration age, Indonesia has always been represented as Majapahit, maybe Demak or Aceh sultanate would be a nice change of pace
They have not mentioned that there is a predecessor of Germany in game yet. But I would guess that some important person of german history will be available as a leader or a civ. Maybe Bismark will return? Charlemagne / Karl the great? Frederick the great? Maybe Firaxis tries something different with Mathin Luther as a religious leader? The Habsburgs? Prussia? The Hanse as a economic city state pact? - endless possibillities. 🙂
At the risk of my ignorance showing, aren't modern day egyptians and arabs (and I assume medieval egyptians and arabs) pretty similiar demographics? Egypt -> Abbasids isn't that great a stretch (especially as they had ties to the mamluk sultanate). Buganda would be awful as a successor, though, hopefully it won't come to that.

Yeah this was a great one. Good job by the music director.

My favorite civ was the Hawabassids, even if their time on this earth was short-lived.
It's a joke about the original upload of this accidentally showing the emblem for Hawaii, a civ we aren't supposed to know is in yet.

Turkey maybe? With Ataturk
