@@RoniLeigh I KNOW it was a movie! I said "TO ME it's the first music video." How many of Elvis's other songs have this much play time coupled with this much acting?
I enjoyed your take on early Elvis, as it's such an important time for music and culture. As others have suggested, Elvis's live performance of "Suspicious Minds" in Las Vegas (1970) is a great performance and would make for a great reaction. I'll show up for it for sure.
Jailhouse Rock (1957). Broadway style song and dance scene from the movie. Music videos weren’t really a thing until the 70’s, but The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues made promotional films in the late 60’s.

So, a friend’s father took her to see him along with her friend to see him in Jacksonville, Florida. The friend’s dad was a car salesman and took them in a brand new car that he borrowed from the car lot. My mom got so nervous on the ride to the concert that she vomited in the car. A few years ago, she gave me her show program, and newspaper clippings to that show!
I was born in 1964 the last year of the Baby Boomers. I am 59 years old and Elvis is my favorite singer and the Bee Gees my favorite group. Please react to the Elvis song Suspicious Minds live version from 1970 Las Vegas.

Or in 1956 when he was 21 years old, and performed on The Bernie Alan variety show early in that year and then later his performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. A musical revolution called Rock 'n Roll that would eventually expand into many other guises (Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal etc.) began in the 1950s and went on until late in the last century. Elvis led this first wave which for various reasons such as deaths (Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and others), scandals (Gerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry etc.) and The King himself going into the army, seemed to stumble in the early 1960s. In late 1963 the first rumblings of what would be soon be called The British Invasion were catching some attention in America. Something was going on across the pond. The dam finally broke on February 9th, 1964. A band called The Beatles (heavily influenced by Motown among other sources) appeared live on the Ed Sullivan Show in front of over 70 million viewers. There was no turning back now. In their wake came The Animals, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and many many others. In 1967 The Beatles whose fame even today remains massive would strike again with the release of the Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Once again there was no turning back. This early multitrack (only four tracks) masterpiece literally changed music itself. If you love music this is truly a magical time to explore. Its depths are endless.
I think something that may be doesn’t come across to younger viewers, is that dance that Elvis did in this video was pretty wild for the day. Most artists would just stand in front of a mic and sing. Elvis‘s pelvic shenanigans were considered indecent by the adults, but the young folk thought he was terrific.😂
Great reaction and a real challenge for someone born 26 years after his early death. This is the tip of the iceberg regarding his abilities as other new reactors say after 6 or so reactions this guy could sing anything from from rock here to country, gospel, blues and neo opera. Try Polk Salad Annie from Vegas live 1970. (no auto tune etc)
What's crazy is that in 1957 tv was still very new. Radio rocked the world until after WW2. There was no color tv, only black and white on a very small, square screen. Color did not come out until around 1966-1967, my family did not get a color tv until around 1967, and there were still very few color programs until about 1970. Oh, and there were only 3 tv channels, ABC, CBS and NBC, which all three had been the major radio stations. No music videos until pretty much MTV and cable tv around 1980.
If you want great Elvis rock and roll songs, there's this, Blue Suede Shoes, Suspicious Minds and many more. If you want sad Elvis, there's Don't, Heartbreak Hotel, Are You Lonesome Tonight, In The Ghetto, His Latest Flame, Return To Sender, Crying in the Chapel and many more. If you want happy Elvis, Viva Las Vegas, Teddy Bear, Good Luck Charm, and sweet lovin' Elvis, Love Me Tender, Can't Help Falling In Love, It's Now or Never, Wooden Heart and so many more.
Because this is such an old film, you're not getting the full force of just how sexy Elvis was! His voice is obviously wonderful but he was a joy to watch too.

Stand alone music videos began with MTV music Television in 1982. Before that there were very few music videos made of bands. There were singers recorded during live broadcasts for rebroadcast later. There were also a lot of musical numbers in film. Movie Musicals go back to the 1930s, which had a lot of dance and song scenes in the movie. They were part of the movie so the quality was very good.

----------- Definitely explore Elvis BUT caution against mid 1960s movie music clips, because the studios began giving him bad movie music to record, along with bad scripts. He was stuck in those contracts until his comeback in 68 / 69 when Elvis was back doing serious music again. Also ensure you listen to studio versions of songs, if you want quality. May I suggest "Elvis 30 #1 hits" CD as a intro to the King.
I always think that also whenever I see reactors watching this bad version. They all click on the first one they see, and this is the one that shows up on top of the list because it was uploaded 16 years ago, so obviously it has more views because of that. It's too bad, the person that uploaded it probably didn't know how to extract the clip properly, or put it into the right format. But yes, even though it was black and white, the original clip was good quality for 1957.

He sang everything from gospel to opera with his almost 3 octave range. You are very pretty thanks for humoring a 80 year old Elvis fan. Be Blessed.
They were called Scopitones, before music videos
This wasn't really amusing video, it was part of the movie Jailhouse Rock. Back then we didn't have music videos. This was made in 1957, the year my younger sister was born, so Elvis is a big part of my growing up. I love seeing young people react to him.
This was actually taken from a movie.
I would not miss any of Elvis's movies growing. What girl would. He had never been in jail. He was very in touch with humanity, though.
This was'nt a video in the way you thinok of as a video. This was a clip from the movie of the same name that Elvis made.
Song called baby come back by group name player
I enjoyed your reaction and should you wish to go down the Elvis rabbit hole here are the links to some of his popular videos (We, Elvis fans are very particular with performances). Since Elvis sang live (except in movies), each video is unique showcasing different traits of his charismatic personality. He is know to have three phases, below you’ll find a sample of each one. But there is sooo much more, and people will definitely give suggestions should you continue with his reactions. Best of luck and I just subscribed hoping you’ll continue to discover the King of Rock and Roll.

There were no videos from the 50s or 70s this is a movie clip from the movie Jailhouse Rock 1957 .

It's a pity that people choose a low-quality version. In 1957, the quality of the films was good.
Great clip! It doesn't use the Rock Rock Rock Daddy-o backing vocals that wasn't on the recording either.
@@TheEccho I know that youtube wasn't always HD. This video might have been back before they switched.
Jailhouse tock 1958.
I think you would like watching a band called alien ant farm doing a cover from Michael Jackson called smooth criminal. Cheers
